Crime in the Bay Area is fucking insane. For such a wealthy area the lack of safety is wild. A remember a few years ago a group of thieves stole 1.7 million dollars worth of valuables from Blackhawk. And there’s many groups targeting the east bay hills in Lafayette, Moraga, Danville, etc. just a few months ago a group stole 300k worth of valuables from a single house in a gated community in concord. Literally no where is safe now
It's not supposed to be on the community members to protect the postal workers. Maybe throw out all of the judges and DAs in the state and start over and you might start getting better results.

USPS have their own Postal Police Officers. Also most crimes involving the mail are treated as federal. It's also occurring in other states, but sure keep believing what you like.

Mail is also being stolen internally at the USPS. I grabbed my mail right after the carrier left and there was a slash in my package that was supposed to have jewelry.
Same here, sliced on side big enough to pull out & peek. It was a cheap necklace, so it was stuffed back in. Everybody hustlin for a buck nowadays.

A month ago, I ordered a cute, cheap little purse in shape of a duck. Someone slashed the package and cut the fabric, probably trying to see if it was valuable.

This is a good example of why I started using online services for the past few years, services such as online e-statements for bills, online bill pay, etc, and only used physical mail/package services sparingly and if there were no other alternatives. Having less physical mail coming in as much as possible would be ideal

Stealing mails is one problem. It could lead to an even bigger problem if the criminals are using these keys for potential scam related crimes. For example, they can use these keys or sell them for identity theft using the names under these mailbox owners. The owners would have not even aware of what happened until it’s too late. Everyone needs to be more serious of this kind problem.

This is so lame. The US Post Office has known about this issue for decades. All of your keys are the same! Think about all the money they have lost in claims, lawsuits and customers over all this time… not including the money lost by the fraud itself.

Neighborhoods need to come together to protect their little communities. Neighborhoods watch needs to be live and in person.
Multiple people should be keeping eyes on their carriers and looking for suspicious vehicles. Know your neighborhood, when you know who belongs it's easier to spot what or who that doesn't. Rotate shifts even be discreet or obvious. Your carrier is very vulnerable and does the job so you can get your mail anyways why not have their back. Community is looking out for eachother, having a plan, introduce yourselves or go outside sometime, pay attention to someone or something other than you and what's in front your nose. Unity is key to having a safe community.
Sign up with post office to receive email every morning with scan pictures of your mail that is to be delivered that day, then youll know what to expect daily, have proof of what may have been stolen if carrier heldup or key stolen recently or if it didn't show up, my issue lately has been impirtant med, mail or stuff like that always comes half opened or envelope barely stuck closed or mail is ripped open or alittle bit.... Never begore but lots more now, dont forget lately theres been issues with hires running scams stealing mail and money before it even gets to mail box or on carrier trucks, in New York it was some 3 or more employess busted, seems that should be eadu to spot and stop but often higher dollar amounts or something more helps make case so authorities allow bad things to continue for the greater good later.

THEY NEED RADIOS IN THOSE MAIL TRUCKS. IF a carrier doesn't Carry a Personal Cellphone " THEY ARE SITTING DUCKS", With Only GOD & Hopefully the Kindness of a Caring Citizen should Danger come their way, they have NO Other Means of Comnunication. also on my training day, my trainer " LEFT ME ALONE" on the street & went home to Have Lunch & Watch Soap operas. I was delivering mail & became surrounded by Thugs wanting the Mail Gang box Keys and i Refused as i stated to them they would get Federal time before they jumped me my trainer drove up in the mail jeep, " The Only Reason" she came back , she ran out of cigarettes & left some in the mail truck and when she opened the back she saw my Jacket & Realized she had left me on the Street alone.
