Guys, after sliding myself with a Duster into a tree on a muddy forest road, repairs were 5000E. I'm just imagining what would've cost the same damage on an X, Q, or G. Truth is, no matter how performant these cars could act in off road, it's not worth taking the risk to make the most of them. What I think constructors have in mind when they say off-road is unpaved roads, dirt roads, but still opened to the public, so that would make it a safe road, where a 2WD would do it as well. It's just not worth the repairs on those expensive alloys, scraped paint, bent fenders/doors or broken spoilers on forest roads or wherever not actually opened for public. I think people have come to confuse off-tarmac for off-road. What I'd rather use in off road (unopened to public) would be a slightly older 4x4 that's lost its value, and then that would be a fearless adventure, just like that Suzuki. Otherwise, I'd enjoy the forest for a walk.

all has been said already...I love that self confident smile on Jimny driver's face...😎👌....one small observation: no braking lights on his car while descending in full control down the muddy road (10:33-10:46)- could it be that he is using HDC ?
I don't think it's HDC. Probably just 1st gear low range...

Where I'm from, the farmers would bury your corpses in the field for destroying their pastures and your cars would get dismatled and dumped in remote corners of the forest :) With the next rain, those shallow tracks you leave behind will become deeper and deeper gashes and in time the whole hill side will come down.
You should be mindful with the environment. And I'm saying this as an offroad lover myself.

x3 did good considering how versatile and comfortable it is. i'm looking at getting an x3 35i m sport and tuning it to 380-400hp :-). Looks like a ton of fun!

Duster have also off road tires but tjese tires are AT - All Terrain so it is 50% road and 50% off road with good performance on sand, gravel and snow but bad in mud. Jimny has MT tires for mid so on wet gras and on mud it would perform much better.

Goodyear Excellence is a summer road tire, severely crippled the BMW. Other 2 had All Terrain tires.
for me, jimny is best small offroad, but jimny has small fail, he dont have lock in basic (its possible offroad tunning for rear and front lock for 1000Euro) Duster is very good SUV, BMW have good power.
Jimny is a true 4x4, frame, dependent suspension, part-time.

Not so sure actually. Jimny is lighter but no diffs. Both bmw and dacia have electronic "locking" difs. System of bmw is a bit better. But both cars are a lot heavier. Nice comparison. :) would have been better with good tires on all cars and drivers with some more experience. (never let go of throttle while going up for exemple)
BMW would def win if it has the same tires... much more advanced system and locking difs
Ai pierdut cam mult timp in acest clip cu dealul ala cu iarba uda. Am vazut cum trag rotile in "gol", care si cat. Ok. Vroiam sa vedem mai multe flexari. Bmw nu e deloc renumit pt offroad. Dar uite ca se descurca.
Put semi-slick tyres on the BMW and try again, see if that works!

Just listen Dacia engine, it's to small for so heavy car. With bigger engine it will be more efficient. Suzuki is great, and BMW isn't made for wood, it is fancy city off road. It's crazy to drive car like that on this terrain, keep it in city.
Please, tell the BMW driver to push and hold the gas pedal. Not jerk it and play with it. Constant gas is what needed for any lock "imitations" modern 4wd systems. Especially You don't want to rock the car like he did, back and forth, when going uphill.

Nice vid, but why the inconsistance with driving styles? Some rev to red line all the time, some pump it like it's inflatable toy and finally some sensible one who apply nice and soft and evenly.. no matter the tyres or cars if the guy driving it has no skills nor brain of physics 😅

Te faci de ras frate te rog eu nu mai posta videouri cu duster daca nu stii sa urci o panta. Faci si masina de ras degeaba. Panta aia se urca cu avant si numai cu viteza a 2-a. Daca tu o urci din strat cu a 1 a turata la 3500-4000 fara MT uri o sa patineze de rupe.

Because these days most people think, duster is super good off road and beats bmw on every way, turns out, x3 is surprisingly decent here, as on aftermarket prices are comparable.

Lol:) BMW’s front wheels work as bad as rear wheels on the other SUVs with primary front wheels drive. The Duster is the best SUV ever among all SUVs (taking into account price $ performance of this car)

Unreal. BMW has at least 18 inch rims and tires made for city ride. Duster has 15 inches rims and better tires. Otherwise, BMW could “eat “ it.
Bmw could eat it if it'd be a landrover but it ain`t same as it is not an off road suv it is a city suv that can't run off road unlike the duster that can, and unlike the jimny that is the reverse of a duster an off road suv that can drive in the city. Btw dusters rims are 16 not 15 and the reasom the bmw doesn't have AT tires is exactly because it is not made for off road and AT tires on 45 wall do not exist.
@@rootfoo normal ppl with limited funds dont drive expensive cars offroad to the limit but dont kid yourself and think that the x3 cant do offroad, check some real offroad comparisons where the drivers dont use diffrent momentums for the cars

shitty dacia, shitty X3 ! Never saw X3 Owners on such a meadow ! Since i drove my friends X3 I know why ! 10 cm deep snow-covered flat road, rear wheel drive (because of the failure) is a real mess ! not possible to drive. And he's only in Town on the road !
the engine (2,0 D) maybe good in the first year, but then: 150.oookm Camshaft Chain broken, the whole engine must out for repair , and a never ending story happens!
at least the Transfer case between front and rear failure, takes more than a year to find whats the matter - nothing to fix, only to change the whole gearbox, so say BMW . if it's mine, i will make a big fire with the X3 in the center !
If i compare it with my E39 525d -- the X3 is far away from BMW Quality as known !
You need to be able to afford a BMW and repair everything. Your e39 is good because the previous owner (surely not you) payed big money to maintain it. Your friend had a guy like you as the previous owner... a complainer.
