Ezekiel Elliott + Cowboys reunion? Maybe, but I have a better plan (7 draft names to know)

- Jeremy Fowler of ESPN is reporting that Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys have mutual interest in having a reunion.
Step in here and I'll tell you why I'm not a fan of the idea, plus how they SHOULD and likely will address the RB spot this offseason.
I've got 7 draft names to look at as potentially part of the Cowboys backfield next year.

Yeah let’s go 12-5 again!!! Lock me tf up!!!!
Or MAYBE they KNOW what they’re doing and they’re SOLELY crooks!???? F*cK us maybe!?
Signing Elliot is pretty much running up the white flag for the season. Not that we didn't already see it waving.
Lets be honest there's a couple of ways to win in this league:
A: Have a top tier QB that makes everyone around him better
B: Have an above average QB, but a front office that is willing to surround him with all the pieces possible to get the team to the next level
or
C: Have a promising young QB with a team friendly cap hit and money spent else where.
Well... Dallas has neither of those options lmao
What would you do?
Let's be real if this is a last shot opportunity for Dak, he's going to fall short. This team is not built to win.
So in my opinion, there's not much of a decision here if Dak wants to be paid like a top 3 QB at the end of the season.
I believe you have to find a trade partner now, while his trade value is hot and get what you could to build a new dynasty. This would be a great opportunity to see what we have in Lance. We could take other positional needs besides qb, and build this roster up and either A, lance shows that he is capable and he gets a deal at the end of the year, or B we have a top 10 pick next year.
Thoughts?
I completely agree with you! As cowboys fans we know what’s gonna happen next year, and if anyone thinks that we can win the Super Bowl this year or even make a deep playoff run they are delusional. I lost complete trust of this team after that playoff loss against the packers and we have lost a bunch of guys this off-season and signed no one, even if we hit on a few prospects through the draft, I doubt it would make much of a difference. I personally want to see something new, something fresh. I have always been a defender of Dak, but I think we have big enough of a sample size which tellls us he isn’t able to step up in big games even with a talented surrounding supporting cast. Let’s give Trey a shot and if it doesn’t work out, we might actually be able to get a good first round pick to make a difference at QB!
Yall are both making too much sense and I agree w ALL of it.
@@mezaventuras3559 Yes, I too have always been a fan of Dak! This is not coming from a place of hate, there comes a time where you have to look at the future. Dude is a class act on and off the field.
@@MrMinionMoney I hope Jeff makes a video about this.
@Anthony-qr2je last year was there version of "all in" and it didn't work so at this point I'm just ready to get back to the drawing board. If it doesn't work for a year or 2 so be it.
Only time I want zeke back is for a 1 day contract.
It’s basically a we are completely tanking statement. What can it hurt? Or Cook? Basically both all but done.
@cowboysfan-rw4rf Nobody wants to bring Zeke back to be the bellcow. It would be for pass pro, short yardage, and goal line.. Or what we call in football, situational football.
That is an excellent Jerry impersonation.
You pretty much nailed it Jeff. Good job great video couldn't have said anything better myself
I meeaaaan. Look at Zeke as a Mentor to a newly drafted Braelen Allen. SIGN ME UP
You have such great input!!
A DAK TRADE right now would be great for both the Cowboys and DAK. Im sure Dak would welcome a long term contract with a couple hundred million guaranteed over a year in limbo with the Cowboys.
why would dak say yes to a trade? He can make so much more money next year.
Jeff I love that hat dude! Where’d you get it
Jus to keep being you Jeff! Don’t ever stray from that and you’ll always have fans.
My middle name is Jeffrey..Jeff your the best man😂😂...I truly enjoy you bro.
Is Zeke gonna play center again ?
No, Kellen Moore is gone.
@@KONEIL1775 then I don’t want him .
😂 #TooSoon! 😂
Love you Jeff.
Zeke would be a huge progress stopper. Was when he was here with Pollard. 100% look to the draft please.
He wouldn’t be a progress stopper- he’d be a 3rd down personal protector for Dak
@@issues3793Wouldn't that stop the progress of a younger guy learning to do it? Also, would eliminate another threat on the field. No one is scared of Zeke...
@@kevinburks6979 cowboys aren’t going to do on the job training for personal protector ….remember gronkowski missing a block that got Romo broke in half … and when you go max protect you are willfully taking people out of patterns by design….hence the max protect
@@kevinburks6979 the cowboys won’t do on the job training with personal protector - remember when Gronkowski missed a block and Romo got broke in half ? When teams go max protect they are willfully keeping people out of patterns to you know max protect

The Cowboys Organization needs to wait and see what we can draft as a RB and then look and see what backs are released from the other 31 teams, shortly after the draft.
Let's not get "nostalgic" about bringing Zeke back for the sake of the past nor to make Dakota happy as Mike Fisher suggested today.
It's about productivity this season and into the foreseeable future. Zeke is NOT what he was in his early to mid years...that's why Jerry/Stephen/Will sent him down the road...Remember this!
Jeff do you think the cowboys will draft a CB or SS at any point in the draft?
I sure did miss those 12 redzone TDs Zeke had his last season here
Yea well he was a below average short yardage back in NE. Because he’s washed. You can want a better short yardage guy but he ain’t it. You want Trey Benson.
@@JeffCavanaugh I agree, just wanted to throw a fun note to stir the pot. it's fun at times. I'm all in on trading back and tanking for Manning
Dude you named a bunch of dudes that are most likely going in the 2nd and first half of the 3rd. If you want them you'll likely need to use the 2nd pick not the 3rd
I think we need O line help
Please record with the microphone inside the house.
If we sign Zeke . Know we’re going all in on tanking.
What's the chances that if Jordan travis is available in rd 5 that we take him.i say 20% he's there n 25% we take him
Watch a Forest Gump clip and your Capboy imitation will be spot on.
One positive thing, I can recirculate my Zeke jersey…..
Not sure why they would sign Zeke with Hunter Luepke already on the roster
Is Zeke going to play center again?
What do you think of offensive lineman in the first and taking Jalen Brooks in the 2nd. That would make a good combination with Rico. I'm okay if they bring back Zeke as long as he's safe for the end of the season just in case and locker room kind of deal
Have there been any Dr Cooper specials that haven’t blown up in their face?!
At the vet min for 1 year sure Zeke has some value to block and goal line work and coach up the youngins. But him Dowdle and a 3rd round rookie doesn't inspire me. Especially for a team that is gonna look in alot of 12/21 looks with them flexing multiple TE's in and out.
Im pretty sure you could get far more out of Leupke as a power back than you could out of Zeke at this point.
Id go Leupke and Davis + a draft pick/ udfa.
Jeff 😂
Estime = ES- TIM-MAY. And hes gone be problem .....but I like Benson or Corum
I'm afraid we will pick a dud at RB just like we did last year at TE. They will wait too long in the draft, and then choose a running back.
Yes impersonations!!!
Coming of injury? Well, there goes our second round pick then.
Shirt sales, that's what it's about... they probably figure they have a warehouse full of his jerseys they could sell. News flash, you won't be able to sell them Jerry.
Jeff enjoy your show but the carnival Barker should sell the team and go buy himself a carnival he would do A better job with that!
Dobbins going to Kansas city
We’ll sign the guys who will sign for the cheapest. Not a good strategy but Jones’ be penny pinching it!
They really liked the way ZEKE ended his season last year. They are interested in Jonathan Brooks coming off a season ending injury. They like Payton Wilson the LB that has an injury history. I wouldn't be surprised to see either of them, or all of them, on the roster next year. And you wonder why no one has much faith in this team's ability to build a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Unless and until the Joneses figure out that they are business people and NOT football people this team is only going to be a playoff team at best, but will NEVER, EVER, EVER BE A TRUE SUPER BOWL TEAM.
idk man im sick of Dallas always and i mean always picking up broken players and hoping we can fix them..this is old we always wanna go after the cheap I don't know what happen to Jerry we use to go after all the big time players and guess what it always worked at the position and for the team..I remember the Dion days the Haley Days the Owens days it's worked more when we pick up bigtime players instead of broken down players coming off injuries that just seems to always fail.
Zeke is still on the books for $6 million, Jones’s are DELUSIONAL!!!
#dufusorganization
What is your “oh no this is shaping up like last years draft” worst case scenario, just so we can be prepared for the inevitable
Yay, let’s draft another hurt guy
Ray Davis outta Kentucky. Can grab him in the 3rd or 4th
If you want to average 2 - 2.5 yards a carry, by all means sign him. That said, if you do, you're basically saying you don't care about winning. Zeke hasn't been good in years. Always has to play himself into shape. A big no-thanks!
You couldn’t have watched nc state a duke
Bad take on women’s over men’s Jeff lol
Lets bring back our super slow beat up running back
How bout Tony Dorset. Or Emmitt smith. Zeke is done
Take dobbins
We let him go cause we thought he wasn’t good enough anymore and now he’s in play. This organization is dumb af.
I would suggest that, with DAK PICKSIX as our QB, we should value RB/TE a little more than we fo.
Miss you DALTON SCHULTZ.
Ferguson has not been bad….
@@cowboysfan-rw4rf I think we should have kept both Schultz/Ferguson, running a dominant 2 TE set. I think it would be more Dak Friendly and make us better in critical situations.
Also, what we could have drafted Rd. 2 last year...
The Ezekiel Elliott rumor is clearly fake just to get clicks
For league minimum I would bring Zeke back just for red zone offense alone.
I appreciate your perspective. I love it, but I'm just too bullish about Zeke. Even If there's a 0.1% chance of bringing Zeke back, I'm taking it. I'm of the mindset that he should have never been released. Even at this stage in his career, he's still my favorite football player. I remember him as he was, not as he is (if you could say). With a better O-line, Zeke can be good. I still think he's a thousand yard back in Dallas. Yes, you know the math. You got the stats. You got all good...stuff. But man, Zeke needs to finish his career in Dallas.
After he got paid he would hit the line and fall down. Didn’t want to get hurt. He’s not a serious option. If we’re seriously going to try to get better we’ve gotta do better than Tony pollard. Otherwise why didn’t we just pay him.
@@SpDt237 Pollard played on the same O-line Zeke played with and didn’t match Zeke’s production. Zeke is still better than Pollard. The Cowboys line needs to improve regardless. Derek Henry couldn’t run behind what we had last season
We need Rico to be the second running back
What do I want from you?- nothing new, what you're doing here on CZcams is just fine. As far as drafting a RB goes, looking at the group they currently have, it's imperative that they draft one who can pick up the tough, short yards, on 3rd and 2, 4th and 1, 1st and goal inside the five yard line, etc. This is what they lacked last year. Having said all of that, it would not surprise me at all if this team once again infuriates me by drafting a RB like Bucky Irving, who's lightning, not thunder.
I saw Zeke's "Highlights" tape and this is one of the situations where you can't just stick to numbers. he was getting first downs from short yardage and occassionally broke off for 10+ yard carries. he also score at least twice from the red zone. I love Jeff, but this time he's wrong.
You Zeke fanboys are something else. Yous make it seem like he’s the only RB in the league who is avg 2 yards a carry bc the only time he touches the ball is on 3rd n 1 or 4th n 1. They said he took over the leading role which means he got most of the carries. Face it he’s washed up n wack now. Deal with it and move on. Crazy how yous are sooo desperate to get back washed up players and wonder why we’re always avg.
@@seanpaul4101 maybe you should look at his highlights before you talk a bunch of S*&t to me.. I'm not a zeke fanboy.
Jeff you are too rational for cowboys.
Ehhh Jeff player analysis no thanks. I come here for the corny jokes. Otherwise we would have Levonte David , sky moore , and Blake Corrum . Ugh
Avoid braelen allen, bucky irving and estime. I would take estime of those 3 if forced to
Why no to Estime?
@jonathanday7502 too slow although he ran a faster time at pro day than at combine
He's not a speed back, but he is one of those that when you put pads on him and a ball in his hands, he will have just enough speed to put would-be tacklers in a position where they have to tackle him with their arms and he breaks alot of arm tackles...I think he is better than his combine suggest.
@jonathanday7502 I agree but I think Benson would be a better pick in the third round
@@jonathanday7502Really look at him on tape he reminds me of Emmitt, great North South runner and can bestchoo sideline to sideline
One of the things that frustrated me with Zeke is that he can’t catch. Wasted down every time
Dak always threw the ball over his head
Bullshit and click bait....I don't think Elliott even makes the ring of honor ??
Jeff, no. 😂 Zeke would be (hopefully) coming in cheap to play RB2 behind whoever they draft, and given that, Zeke is better and cheaper than anyone who is available at RB2, and WAY better than Rico.
Women's college basketball still a bad product
Y’all hate Zeke and people hate Dak
If they reunite with Zeke they will do nothing more at RB!!! You are already pay 6 million of dead money for him so your going to bring him back and pay even more money!!!
Typical Jerry
@@operadoc I consider this typical Stephen as much as Jerry.
