Get ready for the most incredible mountain peak of Austria! Not only is it an amazing mountain to watch from the valleys as it rises from the idyllic town St. Wolfgang, but also because the top offers one-of-a-kind panorama views.
This is a popular tourist attraction because of the easy access via cogwheel railway and because of it’s 360° views of many lakes and mountains from an altitude of 1,782 m.
The cogwheel railway “Schafbergbahn” takes you up 5,85 kilometers within 35 minutes. The station is super nostalgic as it feels like a train station in the midst of the mountains.
Up there is a huge platform to walk around and enjoy the picturesque views. You will catch beautiful lakes and an ocean full of mountain summits.
