  • In honor of Louisville Mats next week I decided it was finally time to release the how I show polish aluminum video. Yes it is a very lengthy video. I'm sorry I couldn't make it any shorter to save time as show polishing takes a ton of time. Mid way through an advanced training course with Nick Wey I knew he was the guy to do the show polishing video with. I have a very distinct process and wanted to prove that even someone new to the polish scene can replicate the process. Now understand he is very talented so that put him at an advantage to pull it off. He showed great pressure use and great at following his overlap and stuck to his pattern. Most at home can use this same exact process and achieve great results.
    Now I am not saying this is the only way to achieve a show finish. There are hundreds if not thousands of ways to achieve a perfect shine. I wish the camera showed just how great this shine is. The natural sunlight outside made this look amazing.
    But sit back and enjoy the content. There is so much jam packed into this one segment. I hope you all enjoy it.

    What an awesome video. So much detail explaining all the small steps. Really appreciate you taking the time to explain everything going on. I always ended up leaving hash marks and now I know why. I had the pleasure of talking to you at Amcan. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. God Bless you for being such a neat guy. Thank you..!

    Killer content. Super helpful. I’ve polished some things but a long time ago. Trying to get up on the new wheels and rouges. My main takeaway though is how and what do you look for to know when to reapply rouge?

    The differences between a “hash mark and a rouge line” is what?

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  Před měsícem

      Rouge line is the black line in front of your buff. Hash marks are the friction scratches left behind by the buffer. Hope this makes sense.

    I’m doing a small old boat, sanded to 600 , using orange buff, brown compound, and after a few sq/ft the aluminum won’t go shiny and just gets smooth black. What can I try to stop this?

    What metal polish are you recommending? You didn’t use mineral spirits to clean between compounds.

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  Před 2 měsíci

      You don't need to clean between when using these compounds. I use my Time2Shine aluminum polish. Everything can be found at www.goshineon.com.

    What's the best Aluminum Alloy to polish... Any corrosion protection after?

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  Před 6 měsíci

      The best is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone has their own preference. I make my own called time2shine aluminum polish. It has a lot of wax in it to protect and is easy to use. I use it everyday in my shop. So to me it is the best. But I am biased. LOL Thank you for the great question and for supporting the channel.

      On a chrysler 300 c they are likely chrome. If they are chrome they cannot be polished like this. Be sure you figure out what material they are.

    Just curious, I just subscribed, do you polish the back of the tanks when they are on the trucks? Or just the front that people see? Thanks in advance, really learning a lot.👍🇨🇦

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  Před rokem +2

      There is no real point in polishing the backs of tanks on the truck. If we do it is typically for a show truck and those are pulled off for easier access and of course safety reasons. I do not recommended polishing the back of tank while they are still on the truck.

    So, according to what you say, in the video,“If you use less compound, you have less hashmarks“. Right? So if there’s more contact with the wheel that’s doing the work and less compound that’s lubricating the wheel, What is the compound doing? What are “the hashmarks“? This is your learning lesson after two decades of disrespecting me. The term “hashmarks“ is stupid. What you’re talking about is a grade of clarity. This grade of clarity in your video is a number six. Because, there are still lines from the work being done. Number seven is clarity.

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  Před 7 měsíci +1

      It is hard to say because you have to take in consideration the conditions in which the aluminum will be in for example, weather, roads, the handling of it. It can last several months or it may need touched up with hand polish more often because of those conditions.

    lol its kinda funny listening to the terminology. 400- 600 has notjing to do with color or brightness. the SHOW BROWN and regular brown is funny. if chrome platers could see this it would be comedy.

  • @technetrium
    @technetrium Před 19 dny

    you should be able to cut with a white bar almost and be able to 2 step when rotary sanding proper the absolutel dept and clarity is absoltely not comparable at all.
    palm sanding ruins the survace making it much much hardet to obtain true mirror finishes.
