How to STOP Your Finger Knit Scarf From Curling

  • In this video I share 3 ways to stop your finger knit scarves from curling in.
    This is a common issue with "stockinette" stitch and also occurs in traditional knitting.
    If you've already finished your scarf, you can try "blocking" your scarf by pinning it into place and then spritzing the sides with water (steam works well also) . This is not a permanent fix but will help to soften that curl.
    Otherwise, you can embrace the curl and join the ends together to make an infinity scarf. The natural curl looks great around the neck and is warm and cosy.

    A few of you have reached out about the curling issue with your scarves so here are some ways to fix that. If you don't want to remake your scarf, you can try "blocking" it by pinning it in place and spritzing it with water (steam works well too) but this will only soften that curl. It won't get rid of it permanently because it's a synthetic yarn which doesn't take to this method as well as wool and cotton.
    I personally don't mind the curling, but I hope these tips will help! xo

    Thank you so much. I’m making these for family for Christmas. I’ve done two, and the sides are driving me crazy. The top and bottom end look so professional and neat and tidy, but the sides are a bit wonky. I noticed that pulling the loops straight up through was allowing them to get pulled out of place and it’s like the sides of the blankets look like i just twisted the yarn over each other if that makes sense. It looks sloppy and i was wondering how to fix it. I thought about knotting the first loop of each row to keep stuff in place but I hadn’t played with that to see how it would work. I also wondered if there was a way to braid up the side as you start each new row, but couldn’t find anything. These ideas look like they will solve this for me. Thank you!

      Oh boy, I’m sorry that it was giving you headaches. I really hope one of these will do the trick 💕💕

    For option one, how would you end the scarf? Same as regular one? Having trouble ending scarf due to skipping loop on each row.

      @PlayHookywithMe  Před rokem +1

      Yes, just end the last row as you would with a normal one to get your yarn to the very end. 👍🏻💕🧶
