Kryptek can be a very difficult Cerakote pattern, however, it's one that I really enjoy. In this video I go through a project that I did for a customer and how I apply Kryptek from beginning to end.
This upper receiver, lower receiver, hand guard, and trigger guard project was fun.
You'll see the finished project and then get walked through all the steps I took in order to accomplish it.

It looks like you are a very patient person. I was getting aggravated just watching you apply the stencils! Also you have a great work ethic. Great Job!
Thank you so much for watching!
Great job! love this one...about to tackle my first kryptek on an SBR..Your video really helps tie things together! Love it when our community has guys and gals like yourself willing to share knowledge!
Plan on doing more! We're in the process of getting our shop moved.
@@Gunner411awesome! Can’t wait for more videos!
I must say, it’s refreshing to see someone properly apply cerakote as taught at Cerakote. Great Job 👏
Thank you for watching!
It’s actually the pattern I did in my certification class. It and flags are my most requested patterns.
Funny, because when I took my first training class ( I went back a couple years later for advanced training ) they asked what I wanted to do, I said, “looks like stretched out honeycomb” the trainer said “Kryptek” I said “that’s it” and he shook his head, because that’s what most people pick. Anything with transfer tape fetches a premium. Such a pain in the butt.
Beautiful job. Your attention to detail is wonderful. I love the finished product.
Very well done! Looks awesome! Thanks for showing us the magic!
Thank you for watching! Be sure to subscribe for more videos! Been recording all day in the shop. Going to be editing this weekend for battlewear and for a cheetah/leopard print.
Absolutely amazing. Your attention to detail is superb. That pattern is spot on.
Thank you so much! It’s so rewarding to finish a project like that
Pretty great info, lots of people doing cerakote all wrong out there in the wild..
For sure!
Like that multiple shades of a one color tone, subtle yet enough.
thank you for the video. The first one can be tough without some help. deep in debt to you for this one.
You're welcome! This video made me realize just how annoying this pattern really was.
pleasure watching you work , love your setup and your attention to detail is spot on. your informative videos will be handy for my next project starting a kryptek pattern this week I am now a
subscribed viewer .
Thank you so much for watching!
It's been crazy cold so I haven't been spending time in the shop but hope to crank out a few more projects in January and get them on video as well.
@@Gunner411 well I promise I will be waiting for you and watching them for sure.
Great job, just doing a Kryptek rifle now and good to see how it's done. thanks
How did it come out?
Very cool video! Want to do this myself, just don't have the space. I used airbrushes for years building scale models (Mostly German tanks, so camo is natural) and then later did heaps of uhhhh.... "Art" with rattle cans. I Love the care you give the customers gun and it looks fantastic!
Thank you for watching!
great job!
Thank you for watching!
I see this a 9 month ago video but you need to realize at 3X video speed your on screen text messages last only 1/3 of a second, never able to be read and very hard to reset the video to read them....put the text in a text line or something for several second times your video feed rate.....trying to educate myself to do this at a diy'er level
All and all Your work is Crazy Good and I have learned a ton...Thank You
I’ll go back and rewatch. Text should be up at normal intervals because that’s added in the editing and not sped up.
Very nice work.
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing 👍🏻👍🏻
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching.
Looks awesome!! I did want to recommend finding yourself some actual vapor cartridges for your mask though, those only take the stink away they don’t actual stop any of the harmful vapors, just an fyi. Get some n95 or something instead of the p100 with fume 👍
good job idk know who told you pvc was a good choice for air compressor but that's dangerous it can explode and cause injury its not ment for that kind of pressure.
Enjoyed watching this one. I am curious, how long do you bake it whith the stickers on? And how do you take them off without boogering up the beautiful paint job? I like the color selection. Look forward to seeing more videos.
I go about 20 minutes to make sure the coating is tacked decently well. Cerakote sells these plastic razor blades that are a life saver.
Absolutely amazing! I wish my upper and lower had that look. How do I become a customer?
My store is 2A Tactics in Beaumont, Texas. You can ship stuff for coating or you can find a local applicator that’s certified ok Cerakote.com
Do you ever do low pressure passes for inside the hand guard or magwells? Or do you do full air and fan all the way?
On handguards I’ll do lower and kinda pump spray the inside. For magwells I just make sure I get good angle of approach on my passes and never have coverage issues. If I notice a spot I’ll lower way down and just kinda touch it up after it ambient flashes and before I tack it
When doing something like a lower, do you need to specifically target the inside areas or does simply spraying it when rotating gets enough on the inside? I noticed when doing the upper barrel sleeve that you pointed it directly in from both ends and pulled out when spraying.
How you work the angles when spraying can cover the insides of uppers and lowers. The handguards need the extra TLC because of the spacing of the holes, etc
I noticed the parts looked like they had not been blasted and that you were applying the stencils with your bare hands. Are you not worried about contamination from the oils on your skin?
The parts were blasted. I just don’t bring anodization down to bare metal because you don’t have to. I’m a certified applicator and it’s all done to the proper process.
The stencils were applied using transfer tape. I brought them to the bench on hooks and if I had any contact with bare hands 1) it was minimal, and 2) my hands got washed and dried immediately before applying stencils.
Do you make your own stencils? Buy?
If you do make them....how? Lol ..
Would love more information on that
Thank you. Great video!
I make my own stencils. I have a US Cutter vinyl cutter and I got the patterns when I went through certification.
PITA pattern, but really nice results.
Yeah. I love how it looks but it is annoying to get done. Thanks for watching!
Where do you get your transfer tape from? I have some but way to sticky. Won’t release the pattern after I apply to firearm
I order it from US Cutter where I order the Vinyl
Thanks for the info. Appreciate your time
what was the prep process? I thought Cerakote parts were supposed to be sand blasted. Those do not look blasted at all
They were prepped per Cerakote standards. I’m a certified applicator.
A lot of people think that anodizing has to be completely stripped and that’s just simply not the case. As long as you’ve degreased and etched a profile, they’re good to go. Occasionally aluminum will bleed oil and then you’ll want to repeat the process but anodization does NOT have to be completely removed, just dulled essentially.
Hi. Do you have a link of the Kryptek file. I really like that one the best.
VG
I don’t. It’s part of the stencil pack you get from Cerakote when you become certified.
Oh thank you very much.
Can you please give me a contact. I can't contact them through Facebook.
You have to contact Cerakote and sign up for their certification class and then complete it. Then they send you the stencil pack. You can’t just buy the stencils.
Why couldn't you put the upper and lower together for the wet on wet?
Everything is wet, there'd be uncoated portions where the upper met the lower and it could cause the parts to stick together after the tacking because it's the base coat.
Oh I thought you tacted it. I see.
ice work, but the color choice makes it prett pointles... could have just sprayed it tan with no stencils, and it would blend into the "environment" just the same.
I say again.. you do nice professional work
Some people like subtle patterns, not everything has to be flashy
What vinyl are you using?
Avery Denison High Bake from US Cutter
Are you guys Texas based? You look familiar!
Yep. We know you from gun shows. You gonna be in Pasadena the 15-16th? If so I’ll see you there!
@@Gunner411 No I’ll be in Dripping Springs, but I’ll see you guys soon. Fantastic video! I’m looking to get started here soon for our Lever Actions while I wait to get certified. Lots of good information here I really appreciate you guys taking the time to share your experience and thoughts.
@@ossoutfitters absolutely! I've got a leopard print and a couple camo jobs in the shop right now, I plan on recording them :) Also have some battlewear footage I just haven't had time to edit together yet.
@@Gunner411 Battleworn and stenciling are where I’m at in my youtube “education”. I’m also trying to figure out an affordable oven and a spray booth that can sit on top of a 4x8 table built into our shop.
Drop me a message on Facebook or Instagram to the store account - 2A Tactics and I'll get you my personal contact info to bounce stuff off of.
Show top top top 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Not sure what you mean, but thank you for watching!

We’re in the process of moving so not sure I can help out unless you’re local. Where you at? I can refer you to somebody
@@Gunner411 I,m at the end of the world, outside of Pittsburgh Pa
Those mask filters are for dust only gotta get the cartridges don’t spray that ceramic coating without the right protection it sticks to your lungs
Cool even though it provides essentially no camouflage whatsoever.
People like the pattern 🤷♀️
It’s on tons of attire these days too.
