    I just got the 000-28 and I love it soooo much!!! The shorter scale makes it so comfortable to play!!! The sound is incredible!! I never want to put the guitar down!!! Way to go Martin!!!

    Both instruments sound amazing. I’ve had a 000-28 for close to 30 years and it’s always sounded bright and balanced. The OM ramps it up just a notch. I’d love to play one to compare.

    Quinton does such a nice job. I have actually come to appreciate his reviews more than Tonys(no offense to Tony)- mainly because I can just concentrate on the sweetness of his playing
    I do miss Mike Gurzi's lessons- they were some of the best on youtube

    Both are great. I have a D-18 and I thought my next guitar would be a om 28 for a couple of years, but hearing them now I think the 000 28 covers more of the sonic palette that I do not currently have. You get that extra "zing." From the scale lenght in the I'm, but I kind of have that in my D-18. I feel like the 000 is slightly more soft and mellow.

    Quinton's outfit is on point, as always, and it's so good MV invested the time and care into these videos. It is paying off tenfold now with some of the best demos, great comparisons, and some happy banter. I've always felt the shorter scale led to a deeper (not necessarily bassier) tone and sweeter (less strident) trebles. Adds another wrinkle with the (perhaps more important) bracing difference.

    Actually, a dreadnaught would probably be best for a singer/song writer. These are mid-heavy which is the range for your voice. They are probably best for finger picking and music where the acoustic is on top of the mix.

  • @gregorycarpenter
    @gregorycarpenter Před 4 lety +2

    The 000 seems to have more resistance and tightness in the attack, even though you'd think the long scale OM should. The OM seems looser and more forgiving in the attack. Quinton's initial reaction to the OM feeling "Iooser" may be justified in this case. I have a Larrivee OM which plays like a dream, and any tightness that may be attributed the long scale is certainly not an issue.

    I'll take the 000, myself, feel it has punchier bass and a more soulful sound, but to each his own. I currently own an Eastman E8-OM. Having owned their Adi topped guitars, I've come to prefer the Sitka, even though Adi is supposed to be an "upgrade." My dream guitar would the the Martin 000, sort of like the difference between Seiko and Rolex. Seiko makes an incredible watch, but Rolex is more than a watch; it's a brand! That said, I played a D-18 with the new neck profile a while back, and I did NOT like it. I prefer the chunky neck of the Eastman, so it's a conundrum. Love the Martin cashet and soul, think the Eastman is killer value and prefer the neck profile. Plus, I already own the Eastman and love it (I'm rambling). BTW, love Quinton's playing and vibe. He sounds like a real dunce in terms of education, however:)

  • @mlc.61
    @mlc.61 Před 4 lety +3

    To my ears the 000 sounds a little looser, sweeter and produces more pleasing overtones; the OM is a little more tighter and focused. Can't tell the volume difference by this video, but I know Martin introduced the OM style w/longer scale length to add volume. I think the finger picks he is using would work better with the OM, as here. I'm a finger-style player who doesn't use finger picks and I expect I'd go with the 000. A flat picker would likely favor the OM.

  • @DJWRailroad
    @DJWRailroad Před 6 lety

    6th, 5th strings sounded muted. Maybe it was the capo, maybe the thumb pick, the strings, maybe a lot of things, even me but, when compared to a larger body like the J-40.

  • @BrianWMay
    @BrianWMay Před rokem

    The guitars are superb, but I really don't like toner. My 000-28 has a natural Sitka top which has mellowed in daylight over the last 15 or so years. Is that impatience on behalf of owners or salesmen?
    That said I've just bought a CEO-7 with a sunburst top! Go figure eh?
    Different strokes for different folks.
    'Playing' like that in the discussion really doesn't show the guitars at their best.

  • @IndigoJo
    @IndigoJo Před 5 lety +2

      The first guitar Quinton played is the OM. You can easily spot an OM because of the teardrop pickguard. The OM has a longer scale, as Paul mentioned. The 000 has the shorter scale... as Paul mentioned. Let us know if we can help with any other questions on these guitars. They're both really great, just different scale lengths. -Chad

    These are great reviews, but one request -- please avoid capos when you can. Even if it is only mental, it makes be think the sound isn't as good as it could be. At the very least, play a section of a song without it. I want to hear it completely unrestricted, in the way it came from the factory! Thanks for the video, though.

      Acoustic Letter Thank you for the reply. I have read so much about these models. I'm told that the shorter scale makes bending the strings easier. But also that the OM is better for finger picking. The OM sounds brighter but the 000 has a beautiful earthy tone. What to do...
