Yes, they are free. However in order to get them both for free while signing up you need to select an option that will add an additional $5 a month to use the router that way multiple devices will connect to the internet. Otherwise, you will only receive the modem. If you didn't, you need to contact them to add it to the bill, and then they will send you the router.

The router is to connect multiple devices via wifi, which add an extra $5 cost to the monthly bill. Yeah, it varies. I might switch to T-mobile since my 2 year plan is expiring next month and prices will rise from $49 up to $75.

No, just wait for a minute and the lights should turn blue again. If they don't, it might be a signal outage in the area. You might have to wait a bit for the service to be restored.

@@SoIDoNotForget I have Internet Service only, no TV, no Phone. I'm in a new building, and my kit just arrived today. Thanks for the quick reply. Spectrum support opens Monday morning.
I canceled my cable and when I did a spectrum service guy came to my place to take my old router (which I was told was 5g) and swap it with the WiFi 6 router which he said was better. Why do I need to plug in the coax cable from the router to the wall? I learned that it needs to plug in after unplugging it and having the router flash red.
Because the coax cable is what provides you with internet access. Spectrum is a cable internet provider. They deliver TV and internet service through the coaxial cabling in your home. If you don't plug that in, your gateway won't have any internet service. That's why its flashing red.
You might have to use someone else internet in the meantime. Once you order the kit and installed it, you should go to spectrum.net/selfinstall to activate the internet.
Ideally, yes, depending on the length of the ethernet yellow cable. You might need to reset the units. I did a video for that. Please check it out. czcams.com/video/_QZUcYckT70/video.html
So I have another provider atm and it’s connected to the coax cable in the wall and I order spectrum few days ago, so my question is. Will the coax cable that my other internet provider is connected will it work if I just disconnect and put it on my spectrum modem?
Yes, If I'm not mistaken, it's kind of Universal connection for all different providers. Because once you connect the modem and the router, you need to go online, signed up, and establish that conection. Please let me know otherwise once you get it.
@@SoIDoNotForget yes I did all the connections but when I singing to active my spectrum internet I go in the website and my old provider pops out asking me to active my internet so idk what’s going.
@@SoIDoNotForget yes. But when I try to use my new internet provider network my old provider pops out asking me to active their service . Maybe it’s the coax cable idk
It depends, if you already have a cable coming from the wall and the unit is going to be nearby, no. In my case, I had to place it 9 feet away from the connection, that's why I used the white cable and the splitter. Also if you have an outlet from the wall, yes you need the white cable.
If you already have service, I don't think you need to self install it again. However you can reset them both or disconnect both units for 30 sec and reconnect them again. Worst case of scenario you might need to call them and ask them to reset your units from their end.
My original one used to go super fast during games and downloading and the power cable broke somehow and I got a new one today I installed it and it’s extremely slow and took forever to even open up a browser what should I do

Hello, I'm not sure, to be honest. But you should give it a try I would say. The other thing is that modem and the router are free of charge, I mean as far as I remember they charge $45 a month if you order just the modem but if you add the router is an additional $5 a month.

@@viperomen914 yes. We have never had any issues and our speeds stay around 170-220 mbs. And you have access to the router settings. I was enraged when we recieved the new routers from Spectrum. This has been a nightmare with this modem and router specifically.

@@mtzie no problem that way we all learn. Since you are moving you should try to connect your router and then go to their website and enter the information. Usually internet service provider are set up by the customer physical address.
I'm not sure, to be honest. The first thing that comes to my mind is that on the back of the router, there are several ethernet connections that can be used to connect multiple sources. The other thing is to use a splitter, so the signal that comes from the outside goes to the modem and the other one goes to the cable.
You can still use it, but according to a technician it kind slow down the signal. That’s what you have to use a barrel. However I did use a coax splitter for several months but I didn’t notice any slow down signal.
Yes, it comes with the order. You can do it online or calling Spectrum. Just make sure you select the option which states to use wifi to multiple devices, which is $5 more for a total of $49.99 a month for 2 years. I think but no 100% sure, if you don't select it, they send you only the modem and no the router.

In regards of the speed try speedtest.net to check the speed. Blue Lights should be solid blue. If they are blinking, try disconnecting modem and router for 30 sec and connecting then again. Or reset both units using the reset buttons on both of them. Worst case of scenario call Spectrum they can also reset them remotely .
I am in the exact same position how did you solve the problem?
@@SoIDoNotForget hey im contacting you late but what if the router light is blinking?
@@silverkage717 sorry I just seeing this and others comments. You need to disconnect and connect the modem and router again. It will reset them unless there is power outage in the area.
How did you connect your coax cable? From a wall???
Yes, there should be a connection(outlet) on the wall or a cable coming from the wall.
@@SoIDoNotForget what if it still doesn’t work?? I have a connection coming thru my wall but nothing. It’s just blinking blue after thirty mins
@@FernandaLima-qd8gm I hope you were able to figure out. When that happend, I usually reset both units by pressing buttons in the back.
My kit did not have any coax cables. Ther only cable was an HDMI cable that plus into a HDMI port on my wall. Where do I pluh in the other end of the HDMI cable?
Hum, interesting. To be honest I'm not sure. This is the first time I hear this. HDMI cables usually are connected to the back of the TV.
@@JJFlores197 That’s what I was figuring but I thought some routers could just be plugged in without a coax cable being required.
My phone connect to the wifi but there is no internet, how can I activate the modem if I don’t have internet to go to spectrum install web page?
You might have to use someone else internet in the meantime. Once you order the kit and installed it, you should go to spectrum.net/selfinstall to activate the internet.
Do both of them need to be close together and also why is my online light solid white its supose to be solid blue but its not need help plz
Ideally, yes, depending on the length of the ethernet yellow cable. You might need to reset the units. I did a video for that. Please check it out. czcams.com/video/_QZUcYckT70/video.html
What does a solid red light mean for the router. And why is does my modem have a white online light that blinks slowly
That the signal in your area might be down for a bit. If it takes longer than an hour or so you might want to to call Spectrum or rest the units.
What package of spectrum internet is in this video
Is the basic package, the one that costs $49.99 with the router included.
What if your house doesn't have a place for the coax cable to go then what do you do
Sorry for the late response. In cases like this should call Spectrum. They should be able to install the conection for you.
@@SoIDoNotForget I see I see. Sounds simple
@@SoIDoNotForget yes I did all the connections but when I singing to active my spectrum internet I go in the website and my old provider pops out asking me to active my internet so idk what’s going.
@@Animeguy549 did you go to spectrum.net/selfinstall ?
@@SoIDoNotForget yes. But when I try to use my new internet provider network my old provider pops out asking me to active their service . Maybe it’s the coax cable idk
So where does the white cable go to outside ???
The white cable goes to a box on the back of the house and then to a poll.
Do I need to use the white cable ?
It depends, if you already have a cable coming from the wall and the unit is going to be nearby, no. In my case, I had to place it 9 feet away from the connection, that's why I used the white cable and the splitter. Also if you have an outlet from the wall, yes you need the white cable.
Clucks cables put it in gello part and the madum ?
Check this video. czcams.com/video/pHvDrDZcbx0/video.html
Did this change guy there said it was ready to just plug in but Wi-Fi’s even slower do I still have to that self install ?
If you already have service, I don't think you need to self install it again. However you can reset them both or disconnect both units for 30 sec and reconnect them again. Worst case of scenario you might need to call them and ask them to reset your units from their end.
My original one used to go super fast during games and downloading and the power cable broke somehow and I got a new one today I installed it and it’s extremely slow and took forever to even open up a browser what should I do
Yea I got mine yesterday. It’s slower. If you check with your xbox/PS4 it tests you the speed
Not sure what really is going on. It happens to me too. I had to call Customer Support so they can reset them from their ends. It kinds of slow don from time to time.
What if I don't have a coax plugin thing? Is it over?
If it is not a cable should be as an outlet. But if neither of both are there, please contact Spectrum for a free installation. They should do it almost the next day.
I just got this last week and my modem is across the room.and my tv,dvr is on the other side..
My question is, am i supposed to connect the wifi router to the modem for my internet, or to the dvr? Cuz i connected it to the dvr and now my internet modem wont work.
Yes, connect the router to the modem.
Was wondering If this modem works with other supplier…I have RCN, and I suspect it would work..
Hello, I'm not sure, to be honest. But you should give it a try I would say. The other thing is that modem and the router are free of charge, I mean as far as I remember they charge $45 a month if you order just the modem but if you add the router is an additional $5 a month.
@@SoIDoNotForget I have these units as a reserve..my RCN modem is also 3.1 DOCSIS by Arris and it’s free cause of a promotion, so I keep these for promo period . I’m pretty sure they will work with my ISP. Btw this spectrum modem gets some awful reviews at Amazon..Like it is not really 3.1, or not really a 1GIG speed etc..go figure..but as I said I’ll keep these for now(got them for free from a friend). I hope this modem served you well.
Thnx!
I don't have a coax connector in my house.. not really sure what to do..
If you don't have one. You need to contact spectrum to schedule an appointment for installation.
What router type is this? Because I have it and I’m trying to figure which brand of spectrum it is
Sorry I skipped this comment. It saids "Spectrum" on the new ones.
I don’t think I have where to connect the white cable in my house
If you don't, please contact Spectrum for installation.
After I connect everything do I have to do anything else
Yes, you need to go online to spectrum.net,/selfinstall, and activate the service.
why if we dont have the cable outlet on the wall? are they installing that ?
If there is no cable, there should be a connection(outlet) on the wall. If there is not an outlet, Spectrum will install it free of charge.
Thank you sir
You are welcome!
I plugged in to 2 different coax connection in my apparent and neither seem to work after i continue to set up thru app runs 20mins to check then says connection not found
It that's the case. You might want to contact Spectrum for reinstallation. In my case, they replaced the old cable all the way to the box.
So would you recommend using this router with gaming and downloading? I bought a router but spectrum gave me their wave 2 router anyways with my 400 down package. My internet gets activated next Tuesday when I move into my new place. Just curious if I should give this router a try since I’ve been told in the past that cable routers are usually bad.
To be honest, not sure since I don't use it for gaming, downloading is ok but is worth giving it a try. You might notice the difference. So far I have no complaint. I have. two TVs, two computer sometimes three and a tablet connected to the internet with no problem.
@@jpayne3616 is it faster or something? I have the same equipment shown in this video but do you recommend buying that router?
@@viperomen914 yes. We have never had any issues and our speeds stay around 170-220 mbs. And you have access to the router settings. I was enraged when we recieved the new routers from Spectrum. You should never be blocked out of settings when you are the one paying for the service. I see many recommending these expensive routers but if you just want to stream, game and browse then this router is more than enough. Hope this helps. I've put ours to the test with running an Xbox, PS4, 3 phones browsing and one TV streaming HD Netflix and there wasn't any issues.
Do I have to plug in the white and black cable for wifi?
Yes, using the splitter or by buying a single barrel.
Can I get this kit at the spectrum store?
If they are open. I might say yes.
Do anybody knows what’s the name of the silver piece he use to connect that white cable and black cable at 0:54 called? PLEASE RESPOND BACK AND LET ME KNOW !!!
Hello young man! :) It's called a barrel splitter or coaxial cable splitter here is a link. amzn.to/4atWztR
I did everything. So when I go to the website for them to activate, it keeps saying “6mins remaining” for checking my modem
I wish I can help you with this one. I hope you were able to find the solution to it.
Did you fix it
Got the same problem today after purchasing spectrum. Stupid things said 6minutes for an hour
Lifesaver man it worked 1st try
Happy to know!🙌🏼
How I am going online if I am installing internet?
Once you install the units and show blue light on them, you should have acces to it. Just log in with the network and password from the back of the router.
This router and modem has been such a pain since we've got it a few days ago. Won't hold any connections to game console. Lucky if I get an hour of game time before they have to be unplugged or power cycled. We're getting a different modem and router and probably a new internet provider too. This has been a nightmare with this modem and router specifically.
I’m sorry to hear that, Such a bummer. I hope you guys can figure out.
why is the router blinking red?
There might be a problem in the area and I'm pretty sure Spectrum is working on it. Usually takes a few minutes to be back, or you can try rebooting both the modern and the router. If it takes longer than an hour please contact Spectrum.
@@SoIDoNotForget Thank you very much. The router turned solid blue after 10 minutes on its own. Thanks for letting me know

so if i hook my gaming router to the modem i dont need to go on their website correct? thats only if i want to use the router they gave me right?

@@SoIDoNotForget they came and it was totally free thanks dude
Wait do i need a router, mine only came with modem
Yeah, the router is if you want to connect multiple devices at once. You can always call Spectrum and explain. They might send you the router also.
Ok it shows you how to connect wifi unit but how do you connect router and modem to cable box ?
I'm not sure, to be honest. The first thing that comes to my mind is that on the back of the router, there are several ethernet connections that can be used to connect multiple sources. The other thing is to use a splitter, so the signal that comes from the outside goes to the modem and the other one goes to the cable.
what if we do have a coax splitter
You can still use it, but according to a technician it kind slow down the signal. That’s what you have to use a barrel. However I did use a coax splitter for several months but I didn’t notice any slow down signal.
How do you get the kit does it comes when you order?
Yes, it comes with the order. You can do it online or calling Spectrum. Just make sure you select the option which states to use wifi to multiple devices, which is $5 more for a total of $49.99 a month for 2 years. I think but no 100% sure, if you don't select it, they send you only the modem and no the router.
@@SoIDoNotForget ohhhh so that’s why I don’t have a router. So I’m gonna go to best buy and see if they have a router.
