That’s the best feeling in the world. Figuring out something that’s wrong, fixing it and it works. I’m sure you’re frustration was compounded with time and all your other projects going on at the same time. Congrats on catching something even the “pros” missed. Keep up the great content. It really is enjoyable and your editing skills are improving greatly!
It’s a wonderful feeling when that Ah Ha moment takes place many times it’s overthinking the problem and that moment that it’s the last thing from you mind it happens it just comes to you the relief is wonderful but you think why was that so hard. I’ve had problems with cars, homes, computers ( my occupation for 30 years), lawn mowers you get the idea. The solutions are most times right in front of you you just need a clear mind with new eyes. I can’t tell you how many times when I figured it out I was like how could you miss it or make that mistake.
I had a similar thing on my Seadoo Jet ski. It would stall at 5000 rpm and after months of looking at the schematics I noticed there was a 6mm restriction in the fuel return. What I did was, place a 6mm mig welding tip in the return fuel line and bingo, it fixed the problem. I had that same feeling of joy, knowing that you'd finally fixed it and the sense of achievement, well only you and I know Jimmy.
G'day from Australia. Loving the 310 build. Long live the mighty mouse. Should get some nose art like the old fighter planes with a mighty mouse for it.
Jimmy my name is Lindell Hardt in Litchfield Illinois and have watched your sight for quite a while and have told many people about it. I am a flight instructor with a one-man flight school and work on aircraft under the same conditions of an iA like you do. We have a piper Lance with the same motor you have that was overhauled by an unnamed motor company and it came back with the fittings the same as yours and had the same overheating problem. After having two flights of over heating problems our mechanic figured out by taking photographs before taking the motor off that the lines were in the wrong position. We had the same hallelujah moment when we flew it after lines were changed. Keep up the good work and CLEAR PROP.

Wow! Something so simple. Yet so difficult to find. Congratulations. And best of luck with the commercial checkride. For some reason I think that’s going to be a lot easier than the airplane. “CAN I GET A CLEAR PROP!”
@@therealjimmysworld you got it! If you work towards it with the passion you have for the airplanes it will be a cake walk. Wish I was in FL. I’d be more than happy to work with you. On the Commercial and the airplanes.
I do understand the fixation on Mountain Dew. Its been my favorite soft drink since I discovered it at the Brown County fairgrounds when I was 11 years old. It is still my favorite drink when Im eating salty stuff and Im 63 yo now.
Awesome Jimmy! Stay onit, and you'll get it!!! I really don't like the Re-Do it occasions! Dad says, you'll get it, and you did!!! Persistence Pays!!! Thanks for All the Fun!!! Mountain Do It!!!
I can relate to this feeling og victory and satisfaction. I've been on ground for 55 years (doing my EASA PPL right now 23hours as speaking) and have been fixing cars for nearly 40 years. When you discover the tiny little detail that the pro's didn't catch and you have the thing spinning as a cat on Monuntain Dew. Wow, what a feelin... Fly safe, regards from Norway.
Love the video. Not involved in aviation but took my first flight in a Piper Cherokee about 50 years ago. Love flying in real (propeller) planes ever since. Dont get much opportunity but hey I enjoy your videos! 😊
I sold some rivets, clecos and rivet puller to a guy yesterday from Tennessee and we got to talking about YT guys. We had a really great conversation about You and Mike Patey. We are both in agreement that you are someone that we’d love to hang with. Much love from NC and Tennessee 🤙🏻🤙🏻. Safe flights and landings that you can walk away from 🤙🏻🤙🏻
I love it. Had a similar unresolvable issue on a Olds 98 oil pump one time. I would come home from work and work until midnight for a week trying to figure out why it would not pump oil. Turns out I had the spring and the plunger reversed in the oil pump. I just thought it was unable to prime itself until I reversed the spring and plunger. I was like you and the Mountain Dew when I cranked it up and oil blew out all over the engine.
Outstanding. Reminds me of when I overhauled a pair of diesels in a boat and the captain had me remote mount the secondary fuel filters to a more accessible place in the engine room. During sea trials it wouldn't turn up to full RPM. Checked the tune up a couple times and still wouldn't turn up. Checked fuel pressure under load and it wasn't getting full fuel pressure due to the constriction of the fuel lines being longer. Upsized the lines and it ran like a r*ped ape. Thing had me pulling my fur out.
Awesome troubleshooting. Glad it wasn't mouse poop from the 310 stuck in the cooling fins? HEY....that gives me an idea on how you can make some money selling actual artifacts from the 310! Love the humor, love the show! Thanks Jimmy
fixed my 2007 jetta transmission. Would stop shifting .It was intermittent. it turned out to be a shift solenoid. I only found it after testing every one using hot oil in a cup and thermometer and finally I got one to go open circuit and stop working after 170 degrease. Boom done works good now.
Way to go Jimmy! I can feel the sense of satisfaction on figuring out the oil temp problem. More importantly, I relive the satisfaction of piloting a light airplane like I used to throughout the '80's up to 1990. Oh how I miss it! But your videos and sense of humour make my days brighter every time - thank you!
Haha YES!! GUIDO lives to see another day! You need some serious Lycoming/Mt Dew sponsorships. Mt Dew at the very LEAST! Also - any video with Cameron in it is a video worth watchin'! Can I get a #ThreeGreenDownAndLocked! #savethe310? #saveCameron
I am immensely happy that as a result of long and exhausting work, you finally managed to find that very magic hole that completely cools the oil and makes you happy! Keep it up Jimmy!
Great Catch Jimmy!!! I like you just had one of those aha moment's working on one of my Yacht Engine's. I just hope you never have a problem like that again! My Best to you and you Crew.
I had a Mooney with the Lycoming with the same issue, high oil temp, never did get it figured out. I wonder if my plane had the same issue. I have since sold it and went to a turbo Mooney with absolutely no cooling issues at all.
Jimmy, I think you should get a custom painting company to paint the 310 in a US flag scheme with flowing stripes with maybe a blue cowling with stars on it. Or maybe a blue tail with stars on it. The painting company gets a decal on the plane in return ala Nascar. It seems fitting if you are going to use it to carry veterans around.
Been there done that. I've banged my head against the wall for months on a mechanical or electrical issue before then you find a diagram and the seas part and the heavens open and you go... duh!! Then it's fixed. Greatest feeling in the worls.
Thanks for another great video Jimmy. Most interesting. Congratulations to you for figuring out the error on the oil line hookup. A simple fix that got over looked. Happens. You did great by figuring it out and fixing the issue. Congratulations again Jimmy. Enjoy flying that aircraft. Thanks for everything. Looking forward to the next video. Retired Air Force veteran.
I love how many comments I scrolled by without seeing any mention of the unplugged microphone you're using as a phone stand. lol. thats some good hollywood magic you got goin on.
Might want to double check the parts book. Most oil fittings that go into the engine are supposed to be steel, not aluminum. Probably wont be an issue for now but could be an issue in the future.
I attempt to fly a tiny airplane through a Deadly tornado storm!

@@therealjimmysworld so question... if you had the line in the wrong hole, where was the oil going? Hopefully not someplace that doesn't like oil...
@@americanpatriot3638 I think the oil wasn’t going anywhere because it was pressurized on both sides causing the oil to not flow.

Exactly correct. From an old A&E...before A&P, 1969.
Bad to the bone on that plane,, So happy you figured it out!!,, Very cool!!

GREAT job, I love the mountain dew shuffle. Cheers from Jacksonville Florida 🌞
