- What does it take for you to call a fashion item, specifically handbags, an investment piece? Is it about its price, rarity and potential rise in demand? Or is it about its longevity and timelessness? I’m with the 2nd group here, but I’ve realized that many people are saying that it’s an investment to buy a luxury handbag and I simply can’t understand!

If we all collectively just stopped buying luxury bags, they would break their exclusivity illusion and start begging consumers to buy their products. They are not an investment, just another commodity.
Agreed but lots of new money and/or social climbers out there now
@@blake1001x so true...... I get the feeling that people who see luxury bags as investments, grew up impoverished.
Couldn’t agree more. I hate how reseller keep saying handbags are investment misleading people that are venturing into luxury brands. We shouldn’t think about resale value even before buying a handbag otherwise we will never end up with something that we want or happy with. So stupid!
Exactly!
"You become a foster parent of your handbag." Brilliant analogy!🙌🏼
Thank you!!
Oh wow, I never really looked at it that way. “It doesn’t belong to you, it belongs to someone else”. You’re just taking care of it, essentially, you’re like a personal maid or valet to the future buyer! I don’t do the bag as investment thing but man, this sums it up perfectly.
People who say it's an investment need an excuse for buying something that is vastly overpriced because they don't want to be confronted with this very fact. It's basically a manifestation of the repression mechanism taking place. People should buy clothes, bags etc. because they enjoy them, not having to keep in mind that one day they will sell it and make a gain. In fact, most bags now cause losses, not gains, even the Chanel classic flap is going that direction because of their poor quality nowadays. So either you've got Birkins and Kellys to sell or you make losses. This is a risky business, I'd put it in the category of gambling, if anything. A bag is not a property.
If you buy a bag to resell is so stupid you won’t be able to enjoy your bag and you won’t feel owning the bag
I totally agree with you. I can not imagine buying a bag and babying it so much, I cant even relax around my own bag.💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰
Stop using the word “investing”
Investing is something that you get a profit off of. Bags generally lose value after purchase. There are very few exceptions where the large brands like LV discontinue very sought after models and the resale value skyrockets
Absolutely agree with you. Bag is like a car. Since moment you get it out from car selling office it lost 30% off original price
Two years ago, I came upon the "PRADA Downtown" sneakers that I've wanted, but couldn't justify the $1070 price. Two days ago it went on sale 40% off $642 and copped a pair - finally. Was it worth the wait? I'm not sure, because these Jordan/Dunks style sneakers, even though they're classic, are no longer on trend. I still bought them, because it was a great buy and will wear them to elevate mu high-street style.
You showed Amber Scholl closet for a second🥳🤩😘🌸💜🎀
Some people buy Burkin or Kelly. Just to say they have one.
It's probably because they're hard to get. It attracts people...
I don’t ever bye a bag to re sale🤓 I can donate it (if I feel the bag screams it) but otherwisie it just sit in my wardrobe and if I experience I don’t like it so mutch (Old School here 🙄🤓 ) maybe someday I like it better😂 If I buy someting I respect the craftmanchip and think about what I went wrong🤓 If I don’t like it! To be true nothing is a investment in that way❣️ I can write more about it but no
As with other collections -- an item is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.
💰 😊
I don’t see any material item as an investment (for resale). I look at those things as investments into my wardrobe…. Not having to continue to buy over and over because the quality has longevity and versatility. I don’t consider resale value for anything the market is NOT guaranteed.
💰
Only buy Chanel, Hermès and some LV. They hold values over time.
😂
Oh you are making people uncomfortable and are judging. Just because you say you are not does not mean you arent being very hurtful. Truth is almost always painful.
💰bags are not a typical investment as in case of investment its all about gaining more value over the time( topping a yearly inflation if possible). Not all bags gain extra value after years. Plus, to find a buyer, who is ready to get your used bag for 1000s dollar, is veeery hard. I would say even crypto is a better investment😂
About reselling tactics- for me it makes absolut sence! Im not buying my bags FOR selling them afterwards BUT if I need to sell them in the future, the probability to sell a used tory burch bag at a nice price is much higher than a COS leather bag. So id rather invest more now, to get a bit more in the future. I know it will be another price proportion. But still... its my strategy. (P.s. i dont have any luxury bags over 600€ so maybe I dont get it😅)
