- I recently visited my local Le Labo boutique and sampled all 18 of Le Labo's fragrances from the Classic collection. Which ones do I think are the best? Which do I think are worth the money?
In general, the most appealing scents from Le Labo were the ones that were more UNIQUE, but I also found that they were the least WEARABLE and might offend some people who are not into fragrances. These 5 are the ones that I think exemplify niche perfumery style and MIGHT be worth the money if the notes excite you.
Also, I found the performance to be excellent in ALL the fragrances.
1. Santal 33 - Of course, had to be here. Despite its popularity, it IS worthy of being called Le Labo's signature scent, for the main reason that it is unique. Just know that it's a very dry, woody fragrance with a dry down that consists mostly of a milky nutty sandwood accord that is not for everyone. Smells like dry paper at times as well (contains note of papyrus).
2. Bergamote 22 - My personal favorite, and also totally wearable and inoffensive. Beautiful ripe, tart citrus (I get grapefruit) mixed with a floral touch from orange blossom, and a good presence of vetiver. The vetiver takes on a bigger role as the fragrance dries down, and later on it almost resembles Lalique's Encre Noire Sport! Very nice.
3. Ambrette 9 - skin-like, slightly musky, yet fruity, mostly pear note that's not too sweet or feminine. Feels very transparent, breezy. Reminds me strongly of Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue Eau Intense for women, but better. More rich, more smooth.
4. Patchouli 24 - Surprised me with a strong boozy accord! One of the best booze feels, even though that is not an official note. Main notes are Patchouli and vanilla, mixed with birch & styrax, giving the fragrance a sweet yet earthy feel. Dark, sometimes bitter, almost incense like. A bit churchy. Overall a more exotic vibe, for better or for worse!
5. Baie 19 - Niche quality and unique, but I could not wear it. May turn off some people. Very dirty, earthy, bitter, and medicinal. Smells kid of like a drug! Intended to replicate the smell of petrichor, the smell of damp earth after it has rained.
Love how you describe the perfumes in such detail! I have another 13 and I like it but it’s a skin kinda scent tbh. Santal 33 is really good! 😄
Completely agree with you on noir 29! I also had high hopes but was let down. I bought a sample of lys 41 and absolutely love it
Excellent review!
100% agree with you on Ambrette 9, this is probably my favorite :)
Really enjoyed this video! Since you like neroli and vetiver, I suggest trying Guerlain’s Nerolia Vetiver from the Aqua Allegoria line. Really loving it this spring, and it’s shockingly only $41 on FragranceNet
Very good review I feel totally represented by your opinion!
Really well made video !
Excellent in-depth review of these fragrances.
Surprised you didn't mention Gaiac 10, which is my signature fragrance. Also love Another 13, and Citron 26 is fabulous.
Gaiac 10 is the best 🔥 Had a sample in 2022 and I know have to wait Sept 2023 to get a bottle :(
I think because it's a city exclusive and he's just doing the classic collection
i'm amazed how eloquent and flowing your videos are. Do oyu scrip them or do you just speak off whatever's on you're mind?
Haha i swear when i'm doing other informative videos i tend to say uhm and aah's. Know this is a fragrance channel, but really do think you're well spoken and casual. got any tips? haha
Appreciate it! I find things come out easier when I'm more passionate about a fragrance, and when I don't think too hard! So maybe as long as the topic's good, the fragrance speaks for itself.
i tested it last week - Labdanum 18 and Tonka 25 ... Labdanum 18 is my style of scent, interesting to me
I’ve gotta go back and try labdanum again! I love it as a note
I fell in love with le labo. I recently went to nyc and bought ambrette 9 and Santal 33. I wish I had bought bergamot instead of ambrette only because ambrette disappeared so quickly on me although I love the scent! Santal 33 is usually not the type of scent I gravitate towards but it smells divine with my chemistry and last a long time !
Hi can you do a comparison video between Le Labo Patchouli 24 agst Frederic Malle Monsieur?
What is the best scent from Le Labo for 21 year old soon 22 that has been in the fragrance for over a year. And it has to be good in fall and winter. Only niche fragrance that I have is PDM Percival and I love it. But I have been looking at Tonka 25 for example.
Le Labo Santal 33 is iconic Big Apple 🍎🍎🍎 (NYC) perfume!!!
how about gaiac 10 and the noir 29? ☺️
When you were talking about niche perfumery at 3:12 you mentioned Le Labo and something else, was it Britto?
@@Dracarys.. thanks
The Noir is by far the best of them all. You have to wait for it to set for about 10 mins and you will fall in love.
im battling between the noir and the bergamot
Gosto muito do ambrette 9
How about Another 13?
Another 13 is being called danger 13 cause it’s such a sexy smell
Great review! But Another 13 is nothing more than barely recognizable pear scent, again barely noticeable even if over sprayed. Doesn’t work for me at all. Patchouli 24 on another hand is an absolute winner, just fantastic except for slightly overwhelming first blast of BBQ.
which fragrance do you think is best for me? i live in seattle i’m 20, and work at my thai restaurant! cheers and thanks for your videos!
from le labo or niche, my price range is $500
@@Channysupreme do you have any style of scent you like? Do you own any other niche fragrances? Are you looking for the most mass appealing scent?
@@UrbanDwellerNYC no, but can you recommend me something i can wear everyday? so far i bought dior homme 2020, ysl edp, creed viking, mancera lemon oud, prada lhomme l’eau,
@@Channysupreme oh wow great picks! That's nice mix. If your budget is $500, go for Roja Parfums Elysium Parfum Cologne. Its $290. If you want more I'd probably add something like Parfums de Marly Percival or Layton.
@@UrbanDwellerNYC i’m going to try the elysium, i had carsile but, i had to give it to my grandma she likes the smell. also had pegasus, and it was good but too strong.. and i don’t like percival. but, layton is good
Another 13 is like a invisible scent
Santal is not unique at all, and I'm not saying that because of its popularity. It's mainly a straight one-note cedarwood with a bit of floral (what they call Iris, but if you've ever smelled an iris you'd probably disagree). It IS a great quality cedar, and worth every penny.
I agree! all i smell is cedar which i love
These are my 5 favorites… proceeds to crap on them. Hahaha
Stop talking so much and cut-to-the-chase the first few minutes or just waste. I'll sum it up and went to the store and bought some samples.😊
Literally 5 minutes in and he just starts to review everything else is crap
Wow, ramble much?
Wow! ⭐️
Haha let the man live
