My favorite chest was always the Oblivion Keyblade in Hollow Bastion, the Keyblade itself when I first found it felt sinister to me, like it was some way of Sora embracing the power of Darkness. The chest itself just sitting tucked away in the same area Sora released his heart and created his heartless, it just felt like it was watching Sora and waiting for him to embrace it.

I had gotten a similar feeling, but with Riku. Like, here he is post Sora fight, he's wondering how he can't overpower Sora. He's embracing the darkness within himself, he's shown that he can wield a keyblade, and it felt like Oblivion was just right there.
With Ansem interfering though, Oblivion wasn't required anymore, and so it sat there, so close to it's partner, and yet so far.

Kh1 had tight controls and demanded precision. And thats what I loved about kh1.
The only thing I didn't like about kh1 was that the attacks were just a smidge too slow. But everything else I liked.
Yes sora can fly (near the end of the game) and go underwater in Atlantica but he still fought realistically for a guy who never picked up a key lane before and always lost to his best friend.
I'm sorry. But I hate that when I press the attack button, sora almost teleports to the characters.
Kh2 truly is a button masher. Its sad that only critical mode is there to give it the challenge it deserves but kh2 is only designed for challenge in select boss battles. After that the enemies are nothing but flies.

KH1 is really designed as more of a traditional JRPG than the other games. It's intricate puzzles and secrets that aren't so obvious if you don't take the time to look for is such a nice touch and shows the time and care put into the game. Little detailed interactions that the game hints at you, like use lightning on a cable to turn on the power, use blizzard on candles to make them stay off, are clever ways to tell the player "try using spells on the environment and see what happens" without spoonfeeding you info for every other thing.
Even though I knew about all of these because I was obsessed with KH1 as a kid, replaying it over and over even after KH2 came out, it's great to see a video highlighting the secrets of the game and seeing other people appreciate it as much as I do. Though the game is much more streamlined as a hack and slash nowadays, all the games still hold a dear place in my heart (pun unintended)

People who don't read the journals usually miss out on treasure chests but I guess that is not the case for you.
Exactly because you are not a treasure hunter and 100% journal completion is the reason why you and some others don't really know about these locations housing hidden treasures.
The purpose of Kingdom Hearts is to explore and do what the games have to offer even if it will take ages to find all the treasure chests which I got trouble doing so from Dream Drop Distance onwards. When I thought I explored every nook and cranny, nope. There's quite an amount I have missed and that stresses me out. But it was fine. I always thought it was interesting how Anti and Rage Forms are never directly addressed or explained, and how in KH2 Anti Form is mostly a hindrance to Sora but in KH3 Rage Form is highly beneficial.

Every single one on your list I’ve figured out and found over the years. And I kind of expected this. BUT one that I had no idea about was the one at 0:44, not even on your damn list lol. It blew me away to think that I’m still finding out things like this in this 18 year old game. So I’ll give you a like for that.

That's one other things I like better about KH1 over 2 and 3. I like the little things you could find and interact with in each world. I also like looking for the trinity marks.

I miss the small, hidden puzzles, and the White Mushrooms. These things are one of the reasons that the first KH is probably always going to be my most favorite out of the series. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love every single release, they each have things about them unique from the rest that make them be my favorite series of all time. However, there’s just things about this first game that makes it have its own special place in my heart and childhood. ♥️ I hope that one day, even just one future installment would bring back the little things like this. (And the White Mushrooms. They’re my favorite Heartless in the entire series and I miss them.)

The chest in the boat at the tree house in deep jungle can be reached without high jump or glide. Just climb to the top of the tree house then jump off and spam the attack button.
