  • Simplicity 9596 is such a cute dress pattern. I decided to make view A. I used the bodice from view B. I used seersucker fabric purchased from Joann Fabrics. I really like the way the dress turned out. I can see myself wearing this Simplicity dress with sneakers or with sandals in the summer or the spring. I learned something about ironing seersucker. I share all the details in this video.

      Hey, Tea. Lol. Aww. Thank you so so much. That is so sweet. I hope you give this pattern a try. It’s easy to make, and very comfortable. I like that they included a t-shirt in this pattern. That definitely comes in handy if you want to wear it under the dress since the armholes are a bit low. Thanks again.

    One trick, when buying fabric at the store is to photograph the bolt end with your phone, when at a chain store like JoAnn, so you have the fabric composition to take home.

      @@Manecoarse You're welcome! And I learned this the hard way. I don't even live in the US, nobody I know there sews so I couldn't even commission them to go back and find out, LOL! As they say in my country "bay kou, bliye, pote mak, sonje" (you forget the bruises, but not the scars).

    I love how this dress fits! I was hesitant about buying the pattern because I was worried about looking shapeless but it truly doesn't have that vibe going on when you see it made up. When I make will look at the armhole situation, that is the only thing I might change also, guessing also fabric weight will impact in terms of the shape. Love your choice of fabric too.

    • @Manecoarse

      Thank you. I think this dress has a really unique finished look. I was so happy it didn’t end up looking shapeless. Have fun sewing your dress. :)

    Beautiful. I think that the bodice for the wider top is made for sleeves and the other one for sleeveless. But I think it looks great on you.

      @rmorine6394 Před rokem +1

      I was going to say the same thing. Sleeveless bodices are cut slightly differently.

    • @like2sew181
      @like2sew181 Před rokem +1

      @@rmorine6394 Yeah. The armhole is smaller on a sleeveless top so that things like the bra doesn’t show. 👍🏾

    I made the twice, once in denim for a jumper dress and with seersucker in the sleeve version. I love this pattern . The only issue is the low underarm but that could be fixed. I’ve also made the tshirt.

      Oh, nice. Making this in denim is a great idea. I bet that’s really cute with seersucker in the sleeves. Yes. The low underarm can definitely be fixed. I love this pattern too. I can definitely see myself making this again, and the included t-shirt is also a nice addition to this pattern.
