  • In this series we build Border’s reincarnation of the Wingnut Wings Avro Lancaster in 1/32 scale.
For the third episode we build the starboard cockpit wall with the flight engineer’s panel and modify the build sequence by fitting the bomb bay roof at this early stage.

Great vid, painting and detailing. 💪🙏💞🍺👍 love how you just get on with build and not spend half the vid waffling or complaining !!

Thanks - no point mucking around with all these builds on the bench 😬

Amazing work once again! You can definitely see the Wingnut Wings heritage! Border just seems to have failed to follow through with the construction order process. But again, wonderful watching you work!

The instructions are a major disappointment. Dangerous build sequence and complete lack of colour call outs.

Very impressive cockpit build, love the sound of the pigeon's at 12:45, have the same thing going on, via the chimney to my immediate left.

Coming together nicely. I love the progress you’ve made on the Tonka, as well. Not too many people building the big scale kits anymore. I look forward to these videos.

Hi Steve, the Lancaster front area is looking absolutely fantastic, it certainly will build up into a grest looking replica of the real aircraft, congratulations on the great work so far, bedt regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les

Great build Steve.I really enjoy and learning new techniques from your videos.
Unfortunately my abilities do not justify the cost of that kit.

Looking great I will look forward to seeing the next instalment. Took your advice on the Citadel paints and bought a few to try . I done a practice and if you dry brush dark reaper on the abaddon black it’s makes a nice suttle shade to make it pop

I've built the bomb bay first on my two. Basically having been made aware that the instructions are a work of fiction, but also reasoning that a bomber is built around its business end.
Putting the frame stays in and adding the sides P41/P3 aids eliminating the warp to a great degree. Still has a slight radius, but that will get drawn in once the bomb doors go on, which I will fit before the outer fuselage half's.
There is a raised circular moulding on P3 in the recess that the door assembly locates in to also. No apparent reason for its inclusion so I would advise filing it flush at this stage, lest it bite you later when the doors cannot be pushed home into the slot as a result.
I am a bit of a late comer to your channel, apologies.
But if you note the view count is up on your Bismarck, Hood and Mosquito builds, that'd be me.......
    Cheers.
    Happy modelling,
    Iain MacIntosh.

Thanks Iain that’s all very helpful. I think I’m on the right track with it but it’s one that needs careful test fitting and forward planning to mitigate the awful instructions. Any other pointers gratefully received 👍

Looking great Steve! Excellent technique on the exaggerated colours / features. The warp in the floor of the bomb bay worries me a bit - if the warp isn't curbed could it not pull the fuselage down or up? Might be worthwhile strapping the floor to a known straight piece of heavy steel (ie 10 mm thick or so) and playing a heat gun really gently on the plastic. Just food for thought. Cheers!

I think we’ll be ok Jeff. the fuselage sides will pull it straight with some tabs along its length 🤞

Incredible kit, I've been watching each episode. However, I just can't justify the cost of it. Plus the crew almost cost as much as the model. No doubt both would make a tremendous diorama it just would take about a year or even 2 out of my kit building budget.

No I wouldn’t pay for it myself I don’t think it’s worth it really.
