  • Ever have moments where you're completely lost for words? We headed out on the most beautiful peak district hike where more than one incredible moment left us speechless.
The route we took was to climb Kinder Scout, the peak district's highest point. Setting off from Edale, the start of the Pennine Way, we took Jacob's Ladder to the summit before an incredible life-affirming storm hit making the reward of a cosy drink afterwards even more satisfying.

Enjoyed this video the peak district is fairly local to me, loved the rainbow too, there are are lot of good walks and cycle rides, a couple are the Wolfscote dale walk and Chee dale stepping stones, the later one is below the Monsall trail you can get on it at Millers Dale its a disused railway line where you can cycle into Bakewell, bike hire is available, theres a pub at Millers dale too, the Anglers Rest.

    Ooooh you found sorrel!
It's such a hidden gem, but you shouldn't eat too much of it because it contains oxalic acid which can cause kidney stones to form.
If you want to try using it for more than a salad, try Polish sorrel soup - a light and tangy soup traditionally eaten in springtime, served with hard-boiled eggs.
    Sorrel pesto is great too.

The interesting village of Eyam - where the villagers quarantined themselves to stop the plague spreading. Enjoy your stay there.

Spent My 20s walking and mountain biking in the peaks .you could quite easily get four seasons in one day . Remember walking up to kinder when the clouds dropped and enveloped us it was a complete white out then it went dark as the snow dropped all the paths disappeared we had maps and compass no GPS or phones then and we had a choice the pub on the snake pass or direct route back to the carpark at Bowden . Eventually made it back and was stuck in the car park overnight due to snow drifts snake pass had been closed . The next day they cleared the road .
Ladybower reservoir howden dam where they practise the dambusters raids during WW2 nice walk along the tops around the reservoir . Regularly would do night rides from woodhead pass to the snake pass across the Moors . Beautiful place . Would also drive along the snake pass to work early Morning as the sun came up magical to see the mist rising off the forests and reservoirs .

I did a similar walk a few years ago, but we climbed up a gorge from Edale to the big rocks, over the moors, down Jacob's Ladder and back round to the pub in Edale. There's a good walk up from Castleton to Mam Tor, and along the ridge. Good for mountain bikes, too.
