tbf, at that time, Reiner was also mentally split. I don't think Reiner could even remember how to heal himself because he wasn't aware he was a titanshifter. Hence why Berthold chastised him in the tower for not being a warrior.

@@FuzzyCuff2010in that case the wound would’ve regenerated on its own if he wasn’t thinking about it. You can control the regen if you’re consciously influencing it. It runs on autopilot if you’re not.

this little scene with the marlyan guards being friendly with the eldian kids but also are the once who are keeping them in the camp is what this world is about.
How were they able to make almost every episode of season 4 so damn awesome is beyond me. The next ep is one of my favourite dialogue heavy episodes in literally anything I've seen.
I want to say that the next episode is sooo good, but every single episode of this season is amazing and a masterpiece!

This episode is often overshadowed by the coming episodes and the Door of Hope before it, but this is such a good "setup" episode
If you remember back to the bert and reiner reveal Reiner had a broken arm but he didnt start healing it until after the reveal. Titan shifters can control the regeneration if they want to.
I think it works in the same way as the titan transformation in the sense that they have to "Have a clear goal" that goal being the desire to heal.
The cliffhanger of cliffhangers, it just never stop getting better.🤯

If you remember way back to season 2, Reiner kept his arm in a sling for quite a while until he healed it pretty immediately on command, so your theory that it's Eren and he learned to control the healing does have some backing to it.

I love watching your reactions! I think it’s also so interesting that when Eren’s grandpa is freaking out and talking about regret, he says “because I was too strict on him becoming a doctor” rather than realising it was his constant pushing of the ‘propaganda’ onto Grisha. He still to this day doesn’t think him pushing those beliefs onto his son was the problem!

Started watching Season 4 with these girls because I was too stubborn to watch it in the past initially due to minor animation and style change. And I was such a diehard S1-S3 fan. I’m currently enjoying every detail of S4 and the storytelling.
Storytelling was always the main focus of AOT. And when the storytelling is THIS good, minor downgrades in animation can be ignored.
