- This is such a good idea imo, definitely something that will improve the QoL and the games direction in general for most iron players. Should have almost no affect on the main game economy too which is nice. Looking forward to this one from Jagex.

I see it as combining runecrafting and buying. You mine the stackable essence and keep it in your bank, then if you want bloods or deaths in between raids you can choose what rune you need, go to the dude and cash them in.
It's like having a stack of untradeable mystery runes that can become whatever you want for a fee
I'd be cool to see something like kingdom for runes. You'd pay with gp and/or ess and comeback after a few days

ironmen community is such a joke, it was supposed to be challenge mode not asking every single week for "QoL" updates over social media because something doesnt go the way you want to
maybe this update wont have affect on rest of the game, but two years of new bosses shitting out herbs ,seeds, ores, logs ,food and runes definitely did
and btw if it was just this update in a vacuum we are talking about i wouldnt have anything againts it, i buy my runes and supplies from GE and I dont play iron so i dont care what ppl perceive as iron integral part of the gamemode, being stuck at shit activity so you can do something you like sucks

unpopular opinion- they should only poll this for ironmen 99% of this update only affects them. the argument could be made that this would create an economic soft cap for rune prices but idk why any main would be against that
With the numbers Jagex provided, it looks like the amount of time you have to spend at the scar vs sand mining is extremely little. They're aiming for roughly 25k extracts/hr, which equivalates to 1.5mil blood runes once you use all the extracts. That converts to 25k blood runes worth of extracts per MINUTE. Definitely a huge improvement over spending 50+ hours mining sand.
Sand mining doesn't cost 100m an hour

with the true blood alter blood runes are absolutely fine to get now just like every other rune

Better idea is to remove packs for chaos and bloods and use the skill to get a good chunk of the runes
I'd rather just have an afk way to make deaths and make some kind of a shortcut for souls so the loop is more similar to bloods. I'm happy to craft my own runes but some of them just don't really have a way of crafting them that isn't as much fun as staring at the sun for a couple of hours.
It's wild how many mains talk about "ruining the economy" as though bots haven't already ruined the economy. The notion there even is an economy when concerning supplies is delusional. Fishing sharks hasn't been good money in years. 200 gp for a shark that takes an hour to catch around 200 sharks. Is a good example of that.
Idk why this video is so long, I feel like this one is pretty inoffensive to everyone. It won't affect main-game prices, all it does if give iron-men an alternative to the riveting gameplay that is shop-hopping for runes.

The whole point of having a high upkeep cost on an Overpower weapon is to balance its use making it only relevant for HLC and Prestige.
With an update like this they might as well eliminate the upkeep of weapons altogether......just ask for a 1-time payment equal to 100k charges for a permanent imbue and make the item untradable.

Huh? Where are you reading that this is about costs? It's supply and competition lol, nobody likes hopping the world list at 2am and still having an absurd amount of other irons buying bloods at that hour.
If you used your eyes you could see this is quite literally 2x the price of bloods for mains. 197 gp on the ge vs 400..
Just give us blood rune packs, that's literally all people wanted and it isn't that complicated. All this shit just to get runes. It's not like you have to spend 5 hours at the rune store buying runes for 100 raids, it's only a few minutes at the store. Sounds like the proposed content would probably be decent as far as runecrafting goes but rune packs also solve the problem really easily and is something that should already exist in the game. Nobody will be upset.

Yeah if they drop the prices by just 10 or 20 gp per rune from that extract shit, that'll add up immensely over time, discouraging shopscape and being an alternative that might even be quicker (factoring out the afk time to collect the extracts, obviously) due to the lack of world hopping.
dungeoneering was the most fun inovative skill in runescape before rs3. i wish it would come back. should have been taht instead of a meme skill like sailing.

i'm not against the core concept but I think the proposed rates were insane, so I voted no for the initial pitch. I'd be more than happy to see it pass in a more balanced state if they want to take it back to the drawing board a few times before abandoning it all together if we cant land on something we agree with

Why not make Blood Essence drops more common and increase the G.E limit? That way people can craft a whole lot more without devaluing the RC skill?

Buying runes from a shop is easy but selling isnt.
make extracts cheaper and give x3 runes per Ess and make it stack multiplicatively with the multiple-rune bonus from Rc leveling perks and additively with the raiment of the eye and the blood essence!
I can see myself voting yes if that was the case.
But 200-250k blood rune per hr is just insane and unnecessary, i would vote No as is.
I'm 900k XP from 99 magic and I only just recently bought bloods for the first time in years, they are pretty common drops from most slayer monsters tbh
most bloods aren't needed for magic, but for the upkeep of scythe and sang

Why not have packs that sell "surpluse runes" that are "fragile", untradeable and break if you drop them. Would prevent them from being useful for mains that want cheaper runes they can buy on bulk on the ge.

Not unless people suddenly want to make blood runes at 400 gp a pop only to sell them for 200 each. With the current design how it is, the rune economy isn't likely to be affected at all.

They already are. There's an iron shop instance and a main shop instance. The shopscape problem involves irons competing with other irons for the runes.

@@Gamer4Iife the point of an ironman is not be able to buy everything and actually get it yourself. This would be there to allow irons to use late game gear and they literally said that it wouldn't be profitable so why would bots do it.

1) what constitutes as challenging is subjective. This is not making things "easier", it's making them "more convenient". The alternative is buy out rune shop's stock. Is that the kind of challenge that you look for in the ironman playstyle?
2) it is a "slippery slope" type of fallacy, because you're saying that just because you make blood runes easier, you might as well be playing a main account, which is a complete exaggeration
3) without anything else to add on to that, you could argue for ridiculous stuff like "we should make ironmen be capped at 10 hp because it's more challenging" and so on.
If you still disagree with this, that's fine, but I'd suggest you think about it a little more first... otherwise you disagree with it but you don't really have a good reason for it.

feel like the devs are losing sight of what makes osrs "oldschool". a top level rune shouldnt be super fast and easy to obtain. if players really need/want faster blood crafting, increasing by a factor of 10 is not the move. sounds like a venny came up with this
I can understand the desire to stop hopping/buying packs, and this does seem prohibitively expensive.
I just think it can be included some way elsewhere in game. Give GOTR another Pearl buyable to increase bloods from GOTR pulls or something.
