  • Watch me try and process some firewood with the AGT micro excavator. I use the hydraulic thumb and the conical screw type log splitter. This is a "How I do" video opposed to a "How to video"

    thank you for sharing your rookie move, this has taught me to pay attention for dangers of working on the side

    Thanks for sharing your experience with this splitter 👍
    Good video 😊
    Bummer you broke your hydraulic line.

    That boom splitter would be good for stump splitting.

    • @dabarn
      @dabarn  Před 15 dny

      yeah, I could try that

    Good video. It went about the way I thought it would. When you use those screw type splitters. You need to split your whole log and then buckem to length. I always thought they were nothing but an accident going someplace to happen.

    • @dabarn
      @dabarn  Před 16 dny

      Thanks, I just had to test the possibility of splitting from the machine without having to chase the splits around. Now that I think about it, I'm probably the accident going someplace to happen. :)

    Good grief be careful on that thing. You should put 90 degree fittings on those lines and tie them up. Also, if you get the auger stuck again (you will lol) if you hit the wood on the end in a counterclockwise direction with a hammer, other piece of firewood, etc. it will usually dislodge it. I might have missed it in the video but how much did you end up getting it for with all of those extras?

    • @dabarn
      @dabarn  Před 17 dny

      I have another video coming out in regards to hooking up the attachment, As far as getting that darn thing stuck, I get pretty stubborn about not doing any manual labor once I have a piece of equipment :). The mini excavator winning bid was $3600 and the spitter was $400 from memory, of course there were auction fees, taxes on top of both of those so I'm into it for roughly 1.2 million $ now.

    Did you say your daughter would stack the wood? Is she an Amazon?

    Maybe install table on splitter and use machine to pick up set on table. Appreciate your honesty.
    So you have a post hole digger now.

      That's a good idea. I'll figure something out to do with it

    You also put the Auger on backwards.

      Well crud. I had that exact thought a time or two along the way. Now I need to try it again! Thanks!

    Got the same Rig, have you had an increase in play in your turret swing .
    Got mine at auction..
    I need to find an a outlet for parts and attachments.. do you have a source

    • @dabarn
      @dabarn  Před 24 dny +1

      I only have about 3.5 hrs on it so far so no added play. I haven't had to look for parts yet so I don't have a direction to point you toward as of yet.

    Get a chance to get quick change for attachments. Makes fast to change. The get quick attachments for hoses. Go to hydraulic shop and pick up. Or call first to see if they have metric adapters. I use 7/8 bolt and 3/4 conduet . Where i live harf to get metric bolts. When i tried 1 inch to large.
    Turn the auger around so the hoses toward u. Then you wount scew the hoses. Buy the auger attachments so use for that to.
    I have seen one or make one that works like your log spliter on your mini. And it was a bouble edge. That way split from what side it on

    • @dabarn
      @dabarn  Před 20 dny

      the only thing I worry about with the quick change attachments is the height of the stick to the ground. I agree that quick change adapters on the hoses would be great. I have another video coming out soon w/ the auger attachment turned around. Thanks for watching!

      @jtsokiehobbyandadventures6666 Před 20 dny

      @dabarn the quick attachment will add about 4 to 6 inches to the length. I have used one for about 2 year. That's the one u tighten and losen. I'm going after the spring loaded one now.

    • @dabarn
      @dabarn  Před 12 dny

      that adds less than I thought. the spring loaded one seems to make sense.

    Screw augers have a huge learning curve better if split logs in long lengths, not short rounds. i have one on my big skidsteer, and it will spin a 2000 lb 10 ft log if not braced against a large immovable object, but they work well once get hang of it. Yes need as much hydraulic hp to split

    • @dabarn
      @dabarn  Před 24 dny

      I'm curious, with the longer length logs do you have to split multiple times?

    • @robertvannicolo4435
      @robertvannicolo4435 Před 23 dny

      @dabarn Just keep working along the log starting at one end working all the way down to the other end make sure don't go to deep and get splitter stuck. Sometimes on hard dead wood I will make a few plunge cut so splitter will start.

    • @dabarn
      @dabarn  Před 23 dny

      makes sense! Thanks,

      I purchased it from a local online equipment auction.
