Honestly Luan unironically represents most followers of low communism ( Marx definition of socialism ) and communism. They haven't read jack shit about it, they haven't educated themselves at all in it's political history, in economics, or, in the people actually promoting them ( they tend to believe they are saints who do no wrong , just look berntards ). The funniest thing about american social democrats or any other combination of that cr-ap ( which in the end if you read it's authors and political parties motiffs like the Heidelberger Programm you realize they are all the same ), is that they are so ignorant and obfuscated about what they preach, that if they were to come live to an actual socialist country like the one where I live, they would be begging to go back to america after a year. here is a hint boys and girls, there is a reason everyone is killing to get into america, and it's not because it's a horrible capitalist free market hellhole. Maybe, just maybe, you socialist morns ought to read some more.
Luanne reminds me of how I got into politics in my teenage years. Fast forward to now, and I will never vote for another human being ever again. If it's on the ballot, and doesn't say YES/NO, no thank you. Vote for policy, not people.
I work for a political party. It's honestly stupid how people love or hate a politician based entirely on whether they have a "R" or "D" next to their name. It never occurs to them that it's possible that an incompetent liar or a gladhanding phony would be a member of their chosen party, or that an opposing politician might be right once.
@Emperor Ssraeshza Voting isn't actually a waste of time, because ballots also typically include propositions that we can vote for directly. We have a trememdous amount of flaws in the system, however. Town meeting and referebdums are the way to go
@35Blackwater487 That's how you create a caste system like they had in India. Take away the power from the poor and vote against their best interest. Call them lazy to justify it and you get mass poverty. Not a hill you want to die on, bud.
@35Blackwater487 Why doesn't your comment have more likes? Luanne literally said she chose Communist because it had the shortest line and the dude wore red, white and blue? This is LITERALLY the meme "Why you booing me, I'm right!"
Communists: Claim to "fight for the people" Also communists: Starve people to death, steal their homes and properties, ban literacy and education, ban spirituality, and send people to slave labor camps or just murder them if they oppose or disagree with their agenda So I don't think it's a matter of political opinion as much as it's not allowing an evil regime to grow roots in your country I mean, if communists just want to be Communists among themselves then more power to them, let them move to chaz/chop and get stoned all day while receiving aid packages from the democrats (who created their movement in the first place as a political weapon) so they don't starve to death. But the problem is that they want to take over other people's land and tell them how to live :/

What do you mean working for the leader we do that in capitalism there called ceo's, managers/bosses you know the employers that employ the worker to work for them as much as possible for the corporations to make money off your labor. Under communism your more free do whatever productive thing you desire because the dangling of money isn't infront of you to pay bills and taxes on literally everything we own
It's satire but it does tend to lean conservative or at least center right. I'm center left so I sometimes disagree with it, but I can't deny KOTH was more conservative than liberal.
@@caleb1413 I would say that while it was conservative, it was from an era where conservatism was more grounded as an ideology. As a leftist I would hardly call it perfect, but during the 90's Republicans were dealing with an era when America was kind of on top, any enemies were considered nuisances at worst, and while some Conservatives weren't happy with progressing social trends, fighting against it wasn't quite such a central part of the platform, in part because Democrats weren't strongly fighting for it either. I'll also note that there was kind of trend of media for working class conservatives in the 90's. King of the Hill and Roseanne were pretty indicative of this. Catering towards a white working class setting and characters that conservative audiences could relate to while introducing them to social issues that would help them better deal with the changing times; if not to fully embrace them, then at least to tolerate them. Hank Hill is a very traditional person, and he doesn't do great with change, but he's not hateful, and doesn't lash out at people just because they're different. I think the efforts were well intentioned but everything kind of went to hell with 9/11, as Republicans led the charge into a new era of Xenophobia and wartime imperialism. The insanity of the Iraq war meant that it became more difficult to sympathize with the Republicans willingly going along with it, and so media like King of the Hill gradually was replaced with more biting commentary and satire, which in turn exacerbated the Right. The Right wing gradually becomes more defensive, more hostile towards a media environment that is no longer willing to humor their outlook, and so both sides become more insular culturally and both sides begin to look towards more extreme examples of their ideology. Common liberalism is replaced by more active leftism as those on the left become sick of compromise, while on the Right, hateful ideologies are allowed to take hold as a method of returning to the past. The environment of the Right is less interested in trying to understand and tolerate progressives, and more to armor up and provide additional armaments for a culture war. One struggles to imagine what Hank Hill would even make of the modern socio-political landscape. While his culture shock of what's on the Left now would certainly be impressive, the Right has become an entity that looks worse then Dale Gribble on his worst days. In this very episode Hank nearly talked himself of voting for George W. Bush (The Golden son of Texas) simply because of his limp handshake, I honestly cannot see him actually voting for Trump, a New York Blowhard of the highest caliber (who also eats his steak well-done and with Ketchup). Hank's simply of a different era now.
This is a solid analysis except for your implication that formerly liberal institutions, such as the Democratic Party, have become more “Left”, when in fact the opposite is true, they’ve all become far more right wing. Neoliberalism masquerades as Left, but in terms of economics, it governs indistinguishably from the Republican Party. There is no true Left in American politics anymore.
@@evansageser6943 This is such a great and insightful comment. This year I've started going through King of the Hill from episode one and just reached this episode last night, and looked up this clip because it was hilarious. The episode as a whole was tough to watch at points; Hank's naieve support of Bush is in-character, but in hindsight not easy to watch knowing now what came after he got elected. You're 100% correct that Hank would revile things like QAnon and the unabashed racism and bigotry that characterizes the right now, while at the same time being confounded and confused by identity politics on the left that seemed to evolve very quickly from 2010-present with how much social media and the increase in speed of the exchange of ideas shaped how mainstream concepts like being nonbinary, trans, and pronouns in general as a concept are. Hank would feel totally lost now and I feel would vote for a lesser known Libertarian-leaning candidate, if he voted at all. It'll be interesting to see what they do with the new season coming to Hulu. If done properly, the commentary could be really satisfying. I think a lot of people in modern America feel like Hank does. And you're also correct that he would *never* vote for a New York slickster con-artist who openly talks about molesting women and sleeps with porn stars. He barely approved of Buck Strickland's conduct (despite making a naieve characterization of Buck as a good leader because Hank has been bred to respect authority without question) and Trump is 10x worse. The man is a Willie Nelson fan for cripe's sake, he would only go so far with his Conservative views in today's world.

Aidan Gallagher Ah yes, truly everyone other than yourself is brainwashed. Tell me, what communist country have you lived in? Did you live in the USSR by any chance? I’d love to know your first hand experience so that I can better understand where you’re coming from.

1:30 Hank says that yet he's the one who had Luanne register to vote.
This episode has both Hank and Luann learning a lesson.
"The people. United. Shall never be divided!" So great lmao
It's actually defeated, not divided. It's an actual revolutionary socialist Chilean song, "El Pueblo Unido" (The People United).
LONG LIVE THE GLORIOUS WORKERS REVOLUTION
“He’s not a communist, is he?” Aged so well. I think we all know what he did.
Definitely did a lot of things they wanted
Luanne is a little confused but she got the spirit
One of my favorite episodes.
I have been watching King of the Hill since day 1 (literally)
"I guess I cancel your vote out" that hurt.
I went to Luby’s and asked for a lu Ann platter, then they gave me a damn steak
That's all you get. Order a vegan meal and you get steak.
Actually, Luanne, you're only cancelling Hank's vote out if you vote for the Democrat. See, your guy has to actually be able to compete in the final round or else you're only throwing your own vote away.
Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.
And that's democracy somehow

@@stinkyjoe4720 we need Kanye West and Jo Jorgensen to be on the ballot on 2024.
I mean, when it comes to the president, if you're in a red state like Texas (at least for the time being), it'll always be Republican, and Blue States like California will always go Dem. The only time your vote counts is if you live in a battleground state where the two parties are evenly matched.

The sheer horror on Hank's face.
See what they mean by "Useful Idiots"?
Yep. Stalin would be amazed at how ignorant and naive she is here.......
Oh yes. Mindlessly jeering what they dont understand simply to ape others.
Luanne wasn’t useful though
@Bryan Villagrana "useful idiot" is just a really handy term to describe absolutely anybody who has different beliefs that you don't like. If you didn't like republicans, then you would call hank and his buddies "useful idiots" because they walk around proudly supporting george dubya, even though people as rich as george dubya would spit on them and send bobby off to die in a proxy war.
just saying, it's not really a useful or intelligent criticism. i'm not a communist, and if i lived in the US i wouldn't really want to vote trump or biden, but i just wanted to slip my view into this thread of incredibly arrogant comments.
Everyone's a useful idiot unless you're filthy rich. The government doesn't serve the people

"Maybe Luanne has a good reason for throwing her vote away" Insufferable neolib Peggy as expected, defending the two party system that upholds the status quo
She isn't wrong, Luanne's vote is thrown away the second the party she votes for doesn't reach the final.round
My thoughts too. NIMBY liberals annoy me as much as the Fox News types, even more in a way (because they think they're such enlightened hippies)

This but unironically

Americans: It's your civic duty to vote for your candidate
Also Americans: people who don't agree with my candidate are so stupid they shouldn't vote
Communists: Claim to "fight for the people"
Also communists: Starve people to death, steal their homes and properties, ban literacy and education, ban spirituality, and send people to slave labor camps or just murder them if they oppose or disagree with their agenda
So I don't think it's a matter of political opinion as much as it's not allowing an evil regime to grow roots in your country
I mean, if communists just want to be Communists among themselves then more power to them, let them move to chaz/chop and get stoned all day while receiving aid packages from the democrats (who created their movement in the first place as a political weapon) so they don't starve to death.
But the problem is that they want to take over other people's land and tell them how to live :/

What do you mean working for the leader we do that in capitalism there called ceo's, managers/bosses you know the employers that employ the worker to work for them as much as possible for the corporations to make money off your labor. Yall need to look up the definition of satire.
Oh what do you know Joey Ackley?
