    Just wanted to thank you for your video. I wanted just the override bar and because of you, I was able to buy it. I do plan on getting the Gen2 system, but not right yet. And I may also buy the new brother hoop. I have the wide cap setup. I end up hitting the underside of my machine w the bill clamp. It is really irritating. I break quite a few needles going over the center seam on a structured hat. I didn't know the centering trick, so you taught me there too. I really appreciate your video!

      I got the override clip with my gen 2. My question is the directions are telling me to remove the magnet cover and magnets. Is that right? Just got my 1st 10 needle and I don't want to break it. My husband gave it to me. Tks in advance. If you have a you tube on how to do that I'd be sure to watch it. Again tks

    i have the pr670e with the PRCF5 , the same one your displaying here, i purchased the hooptech cap frame, t-bar, and back of cap, little did i know as in the website it says it fits the pr600 , long story short , the cylindrical part of the driver on the prcf5 is smaller than previous model numbers, and sadly the hooptech frames did not fit,
    i guess there is a standard size cylinder part but brother decided to change that and render third party hoops useless, maybe not on purpose but that is the result

    • @mancaveembroidery
      @mancaveembroidery  Před rokem

      Hi Becky! I use the Brother/Babylock new hat hoop 98% of the time. The hooping method is much different than the other hat hoops - a bit of a learning curve with it with the different styles of hats, but it is my "go-to" for hats. If I want to embroider on the back or sides of hats, I use the Hoop Tech back-of-hat hoop, which works great. But with the Hoop Tech hat hoops, you need the original (larger) hat assembly. It is nice having many different "tools in the toolbox", but if I had to purchase one, I would buy the new Brother/Babylock hat hoop.

I will have an opportunity later today to take a look to see if we can use the flat brim hat hoop for embroidering on the back of hats. Will keep you posted!

      Personally, my go-to is the Brother universal or what they used to call the flat brim hat hoop. I use it all the time. The Gen 2 was my go-to. The Gen 2 is fantastic for hooping hats, with its T-bar hooping station, but I prefer how close to the brim I can get with the Brother.

    • @mancaveembroidery
      @mancaveembroidery  Před rokem

      Great question! Not certain for sure, but when you purchase the Gen 2, you receive an override clip. The clip overrides a sensor that makes your machine think you are embroidering on "flat frames", not a hat frame. My thought would be, since the machine thinks you are using a "flat frame", you might be able to use the snowman. Another alternative would be to use your "live" camera - I use my live camera every time I hoop a hat, just to make sure it is positioned correctly. Great idea using the snowman - keep me posted, please!

    With the new Brother Entrepreneur machine using the Gen 2 override clip and the Gen 2 frame. Is the brim of the hat hitting the back of the machine and rising up like it was on the Babylock one? I currently have a 6 needle Babylock and having terrible time with the caps. I am upgrading and was thinking of the Brother one if the brim of the caps was not hitting the back. Minus those "Richardson caps", any trouble with Otto or Flexfit? I have the Gen 2 cap frame set already and am still having trouble with my Babylock. Any information is greatly appreciated.

    • @mancaveembroidery
      @mancaveembroidery  Před 2 lety

      Hi Kathy! For me, I was able to move a bit closer to the brim using the Gen 2 with their override clip - about a quarter of an inch closer than the standard Brother/Babylock original hat hoop. But if I moved any closer than about 0.75", I would notice the hat would start to tip/rise up. But I still considered it a "win" at that time as I was able to get closer to the bill, even if was just a quarter of an inch. My go-to hat hoop now is the new "flat brim" or "universal" hat hoop from Brother/Babylock. With the new design of that hat hoop, even with the Richardson hats, I am able to lower the design easily to 0.50", and often within a 1/3 of an inch. I did lower it once to 0.25 of an inch, but I was too close to the sweatband in the hat. I removed the magnet, or sensor, from the hat assembly, that attaches to the machine, and in combination of doing that with using the override clip that came with the Gen 2, and the new hat hoop, that is how I am able to lower my design to 1/3 of an inch. Please let me know if this helps!

    • @mancaveembroidery

      The Hoop Tech Gen 2 will only work on the "wide" hat frame driver, not the newer "flat brim" or "universal" at hoop that they just released a couple years ago. The diameter is different between the two hat drivers, and the Gen 2 is made for the larger diameter, or the "wide" hat hoop. Hope this helps!

    So I have ordered the flat brim had driver and am thinking also about the Gen2 Hat hoop. My question is do you get more than 2.5 inch high with the Gen2 Hat hoop using the override sensor?

    • @mancaveembroidery
      @mancaveembroidery  Před 2 lety

      Hi Shelly! It has been my experience, with the Gen 2 hat hoop, with using their override clip, the closest I can begin embroidery to the bill is approximately 0.75". The override clip makes the machine think you are embroidering on flats; however, if you move the design any closer to the bill, I have noticed the back of the hat will begin to tip upwards. This might be from the bill of the hat coming into contact with the back of the machine. I just do not feel comfortable with the back of the hat tipping upwards. With the override clip and the new flat brim or universal hat hoop, I am able to begin embroidery 0.25" of an inch above the bill. I had a design that was almost 2.5 inches tall, and it worked great, since I was able to start the design so close to the bill.

    Is it possible to get the design closer to the brim? I have the Hoop Teck.

    • @mancaveembroidery
      @mancaveembroidery  Před rokem

      Hi Sara! I have found the closest I can embroider to the bill using the Hoop Tech is approximately 3/4 of an inch. If I try to move the design any closer, the back of the hat (part towards me) will tend to tip upwards - this is because the bill of the hat is pressing against the back of the machine.

  • @shellyjorgensen2441
    @shellyjorgensen2441 Před 2 lety

    Is there anyway you could tell me where to buy that override clip. I tried to search for it but couldn't find it. I've reach out to Hoop Tech but never heard anything back.

    • @mancaveembroidery
      @mancaveembroidery  Před 2 lety

      The override clip came with my Gen 2 hat hoop. I am uncertain if you may purchase it individually. The main goal is to override the sensor, so that it thinks we are embroidering on flat items, rather than a hat. I have seen a few people using "homemade" items, such as a small binder clip or even a guitar pick, to override the sensor. With the guitar pick, they drilled a hole in it for the tightening knob to go through, and then the guitar pick pressed down on the sensor just enough. On the back of the hat jig, the portion that attaches to the machine, there is a small rectangle piece that is held on with two small screws. You will need to remove those screws as well - all part of making the machine think you are embroidering on flats, as compared to a hat. Please let me know if you have any other questions!

    • @mancaveembroidery
      @mancaveembroidery  Před 2 lety

      Unfortunately, I do not have the exact measurement, but I would imagine approximately 6 inches. If you are wanting to embroider on the side panel, simply rotate the hat while you are hooping it. Rather than hooping the hat "straight", with the middle seam lined up with the middle of the hat hoop, rotate it to one side. I have a video demonstrating this method.

    • @mancaveembroidery
      @mancaveembroidery  Před 2 lety

      I received my override clip when I purchased my Hoop Tech Gen 2 hat hoop. After I purchased my Brother Flat Brim hat hoop, I simply used the clip when using the flat brim - and it works great. I am unsure if you can just purchase the clip by itself from Hoop Tech. Another option, I saw a person used a small "binder clip" - just something to keep the sensor pressed down so that the machine thinks it is using a regular flat hoop, as compared to a hat hoop.

    • @mancaveembroidery

I am experimenting with a modification using the bill retainer off the standard hoop and can get it about the normal 1". Hooptech should address this issue with Brother machines and not advertise getting embroidery closer to the brim and also have found it not suitable for flat brim caps.

    What is the maximum height i can embroider on the gen 2 hoop?

    • @mancaveembroidery
      @mancaveembroidery  Před 2 lety

      The maximum height would be determined, in part, by the style of hat. In my experience, I have not been able to embroider closer than 3/4 of an inch above the bill using the Gen 2 and the override clip. Any closer, and the back of the begins to tip upwards. With the new Brother/Babylock hat hoop, with the override clip, I have embroidered 1/4 of an inch above the bill.
