  • This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. It is often said what we think we become. Distinguished professor and author Steve Piscitelli proposes a formula for becoming what we do.
Steve Piscitelli has been a Professor at Florida State College at Jacksonville for more than two decades, and a teacher who has taught at the middle school, high school, and college levels for more than three. Besides his classroom and programs, Steve has carried his teaching to his weekly blog (5 years old) and CZcams Channel. As a facilitator, Steve is energetic, humorous, and relevant. He knows how to connect with his audiences, which have included students, secondary and post-secondary faculty and administrators, and corporate managers and their team members. He is also the author of ten books.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Steve, I enjoyed your talk because it spoke to me on a personal level. I like to reflect deeply on my personal assumptions by questioning, questioning, questioning........A tough childhood shaped my assumptions about people. It took great courage, strength and many years of reflection to become truly aware of why I believed those assumptions. I prescribe to confronting limits and setting goals. If my goals are unmet, I pick myself up and try, try again.......

He's a great professor! I learned so much about myself in his SLS course. I can't say enough good words about this man.

I like this talk very much but I have the Talent Code on my Kindle, so I was able to search for the quote "Stare at who you want to become." but I couldn't find it in that book. It is a great quote so I wanted to read it in the context of the book but it wasn't there. Thanks
