Farer have been on my hitlist for a while, so I am delighted to add this fun and funky Aquamatic into my collection. Only problem is, I have to wait for the seasons to change! Cheers, Jody
That colour scheme is great. Its july, so middle of winter here too in the uk
Ahahhahha! My dad in Yorkshire had the heating on last week 😱
What the heck do you mean?
We hit 32 degrees yesterday down in Wiltshire.. genuinely thought I was going to die haha
😂
Aye, it's grim oop north.
Nice one!
It's definitely got summer vibes! Lovely. Sadly the state of my pockets don't match my ambitions.
As a Miami Dolphins fan I can't not love this watch. It looks beautiful!
I actually bought this as a gift for my MD fan friend, ever since I've never seen him without it.
Someone else has made this comment - I hadn't clocked till now. Should have been the Farer Marino.
i knew id see this comment lmao
i was gonna say "dolphins fans hype af right now"
A classic piece, Farer are awesome, consistently regarded as the finest microbrand out there.
By nobody
My favorite is Helm, but this is a nice color scheme!
They are certainly up there, right next to Christopher Ward, which is the king of microbrands.
The colorways remind me of a grown-up version of the old TAG-Heuer F-1 plastic watches. This is a watch for Monte Carlo on F1 weekend, the French Riviera and the Almafi Coast.
All I can see is the Miami Dolphins. The asymmetrical case might drive me crazy though.
I love Farer! I have a GMT Lander IV in 36mm. It is a delightful watch.
Yes I love a day+date complication. I’m always forgetting both!
Haven't seen that Datsun logo since I was a kid! They had such cool cars!
My dad had an old 120Y that he called Slimey cos it was green and slid all over the place 🤣
My Dad had an orange 140J!
That's a great car!
Whahahaha! Slimey eh! My dad had a GX that was more beat than speed. 😅
My step dad had a red one, drove all the way from France to Poland to pick me up and drive me back, that was 1976! Car broke down in Germany (cam belt as I recall, I was 6). He then wrote the car off in Tunisia by landing on the roof after coming off the road...ahhhh memories! Thank Jody 😁
Best thing about Farer is that you can buy multiple and they look different. Love it.
Farer, the Benetton of watches
Interesting comparison.
Cool colors ! As for Day/date, at first seems a worthwhile complication, but in my rotation of my auto/mech watches, its been a year since I could de bothered to set day/date. Better for placement on quartz.
I love Farer. They are not finished as well as a Formex or a Monta, but their designs are worth every penny, especially the Resolute.
I look forward to an Erebus with a day-date complication. At the risk of getting negative comments, I have to say that a quartz movement would be preferred.
Yes I have way more than enough of automatics, I’m a big fan of eco-drives. A solar powered Erebus would be awesome 😎
Day date Erebus would be awesome!
Watched "Golden Eye" yesterday and explained the Omega Seamaster quartz on James Bond's wrist to the wife. Quartz is acceptable to me, but not preferred.....if there are both, I'll purchase both. :)
Your review convinced me finally to pull the trigger and add a Farer to my collection. Since real men wear colorful watches, I also went with the Thurso, aka the Dan Sub-Marino.
I love Farer's work with color, but at around the $1k mark, it's a little outside my budget for something that isn't meant to be a heavy part of my rotation. Great designs though... maybe someday.
Congrats on finally getting a Farer. That is such a vibrant look - it will be impossible for you to look at it on your wrist and not smile. Own 2 - automatic GMT and a Quartz chrono with a beautiful vintage look. Great value for money.
Not a day complication person - believe it just clutters the dial. But they pulled it off with those colors.
It’s the Miami Dolphins color scheme!
I love day date complications, definitely a bonus for me, so good on my SKX and 5KX.
The colors are beautiful I'likefarer watches.💯👍
So this exact watch has a special place in my heart, I bought one to commemorate my mother's life, she died just a few years ago- she was a very colorful woman whom I greatly miss. The folks at Farer engraved a memorial to her on the back of the watch for me. I will always cherish this watch as a reminder of a wonderful woman who could light up a room with her presence!
Any excuse to buy a watch huh
Hamilton, Rolex, Seiko……..all offered with Day/Date. It’s what I love about a 7750. Fine vid Jody!
That is the first farer I bought. I love it.
Excellent! What do you think of the clasp though?
I love what they did with the seconds hand. More brands need to focus more on that 3rd hand
Should be a hit with Miami Dolphins fans with that color selection! I love a day/date…wish I saw more of them. And I love the choices you have with all those straps available; wish more brands packaged their watches thus. We need more fun watches in our collections! Cheers!
This is the attention to detail and care we like to see Jody, measuring the case SIX times… that’s dedication 😉 *edit* the cream and red combination is 🔥🔥🔥 if I hadn’t just blown my collection clear out revenue on my Ventura and incoming Squale, I’d pick one of those up for SURE!!
Love it, orange rubber would be sweet !
Loving this. Love the colors and the way they're presented. Wish it was a little bigger.
The colors remind me of the Miami Dolphins football team. And it’s 90* here in Florida.
That's a very sweet looking watch. My absolute favorite summer dive watch (and my favorite watch I own) is my Squale 60 Atmos with the blue and white on a Staib mesh bracelet.
I like a day/date complication but since the vast majority are autos it’s just one more thing to set b4 I wear the watch… only to have to do it again each time I wear the watch as I don’t have unlimited watch winders! Now on a quartz I’m all on board!!
after your last SOTC this is definitely the added color you needed
Farer are just soooo cool! I have my eye on a few of there GADA models - the problem is just deciding.
6:00 big fan here
I do like the day/date complication, you get that on 7750 based chronos and as you mentioned, some other Swiss Watches.
Winter in Sydney! Oh Jody you're great! Can't say the same for the abysmal watch.🤮
Middle of Winter here in the southern hemisphere yes, but still a pleasant and sunny 21 degrees here in Southern Queensland;) Love that Farer and love the all brushed Jubilee, but that clasp 👎
The Farer symbol is reminiscent of Starfleet, but the whole colour scheme could earn it the nickname "the Ahsoka"
Date at 6 o'clock, never find myself not knowing what day it is, but overall prefer cleaner dial without either! Cheers.
I love day date watches. I have several such as Seiko Pogue, Jumbo and a Marathon CSAR. I think there should be more of them.
I am into that white chronograph of theirs....
THANK YOU! Ive been looking at getting the Porthleven for a year now but not many have ever reviewed them. Gonna be getting one now
I loooove ❤ the day date complication. This watch is beautiful for sure
Those orange and blue straps look cool especially the blue one.
I love your dive watch videos.
I'd never buy a wristwatch that small, though!
I’m a Date Only Guy, but I’m honestly ambivalent about a Day/Date. Damn, I need to loosen my tie and get into colorful watches. That’s all I seem to be seeing on CZcams. Excellent T Shirt BTW. Thanks for the great review!
Just impressed that a Scot has heard of Bognor Regis. No wonder you emigrated.
Interesting that you asked for comments on the Day/Date because yeah, you guessed it, that's what I was gonna comment about. Love it! I mean: if it's not gonna be time-only for simplicity, and it's gonna have a Date window, may as well have the Day also.
Very handsome watch. But yeah, a Diver with butterfly clasp = Desk Diver = Poser. Bummer cuz that's otherwise a nice bracelet. Both bands look great.
Overall, I like it. Very nice Desk Diver/beach destination tourist wrist candy.
Talk about attention to detail! Love a piece that rewards a closer look, and makes me praise whoever designed it.
Got one! Love it! But he’s right, the colors that I love so much limits its use. But when I do wear it! It gets attention.
👍 to the day date! 🏴
Excellent review, which echoes my sentiments exactly. I have exactly the same variant and it is ,as you say, a perfect summer wstch. Needless to say, it hasn't seen much use here in the UK this year...
The Datsun t-shirt earned this video a like :D
And thanks for the video, I do like a colourful watch!
I like day date watches but only with subtle indices. With indices this bold, the day date window really subtracts from the visual pleasure that this watch has the potential to offer.
I also like day/date complications. For me I prefer it over just a date. So a day/date complication or none at all, would generally be my preference.
I don't mind pink t shirt but with Datsun i think white is more appropriate.
Farer is so badass.
Great colors 😃, great details 😃great to see a day date 😃 (big fan of day date), not so great price☹️.
So i splashed out on the Farer Bernina Chrono (White dial and bezel with red and blue accents) because I love the colour scheme. It also has cream as well as white and it all works together to look amazing. Although it's a 41mm but wears more like a 39 and at first I nearly sold it as it's just too small for me on the supplied strap. However I tried it on a red leather bund strap with white stitching and it looks perfect - more wrist presence as well as great colour coordination. And so I've kept it, at least for now.
Really cool watch today and nice Datsun shirt! This watch is on my long time list as I love day date watches especially ones that have alternative colors for different days like this one did or the skx007 does with the weekend dates. Farer really seems to go wild with color and it feels like they hit a real winner with this specific model
Great vid Jody. Neat watch. They have been catching my eye for a while now. To your point, while enticing, not sure the price warrants the purchase of a wrist wearing limited design . . . . Time will tell. Reminds me of the ADPT titanium NH34A and the Worn and Wound x Boldr GMTs, both considerably less expensive, and the latter with a Miyota 9075. Maybe I can wear it the other half of the year in the bold red or grey, more appropriate fall/winter like colors? Sure beats another standard black, white or blue dialed diver.
I like a day/date. I have 2 - an Orient Ray Raven II automatic and a Lorus Sports Lumibrite quartz. Not a priority but useful.
Impressive watch with some nice features. It reminded me of a watch by another micro brand, the Seaborne Sea Venture Automatic - Sunset Edition. It is an excellent 40 mill diver with the same colour ray, but for $400. As I live in Glasgow I use it as a daily as there is not call for a summer watch especially this year
Perhaps they consider the offset on the 3 o’clock side a crown guard and therefore the true case diameter is about a mil lower than measured to account for that guard?
100 summer days 😊 come on Jody have you forgotten where you come from 😎 . Love the colours though
Jody, I prefer the Origin!
I like the blue colorway, the jubilee brushed is nice, yup I prefer a adjustble micro adjust clasp instead, not into butterfly clasp.
Lovely colours. Looks like a few quality control issues if the bezel isn't sitting on centred. I'll have one though, to test it for myself 😂. I think the proportions look a bit better on the BB58, but yeah that's not a cheap watch! No need for day, what a shame.
The key thing about a day/date is that it totally avoids the where should I put this you always get with just a date window. And the fact it's larger just brute forces that it needs to be there. I like them, too.
Huge fan of Farer. Recently purchased their "Resolute II" and have been wearing it over the last month. It has been fantastic and would definitely buy another watch from them!
I was considering one but ended up passing on it because it’s not enough of daily or enough of a tool watch, great video and review that was really well analyzed, I still want a Farer Universal but it’ll have to wait
A lot more colourful than the slacks they do.
I thank you, here all week.
Wahoo .... what a T-shirt 👌👍 Datsun nut here, nice one Jody. Those watches are cool too.
The t-shirt is on point Jody!
In fact, the t is the star of this review (although the watch isn't bad either).
Middle of Winter with you😮, well, here it's summer😉 and i like this watch. Thank you for showing👍
So beautiful and funky 🎉I love Farer watches. This piece is awesome. One or two mm larger would be nice though.
Working shifts across seven days, I never know what day it is. I probably check my watches for the day more often than the time! Love an auld day-date.
I like Day/Date on a watch….unless it’s on a Citizen. They just use text thats too small compared to the competition. Love the color scheme on this watch. Really nice look.
I own the porthleven no.66, and the lander IV 36mm no.65. Absolute killers in my eyes but 100% agree with you in regards to the aquamatic bracelet though, we need micro adjustments man 🙏
If Farer did this without the day/date, I would be very tempted by it. But I don’t like watches with dates as I wear my watches in rotation and I can’t be bothered to continually re-set them.
I agree about the day/date complication.
Great original Datsun shirt 👍
You're from Scotland!!!!! The middle of winter in Australia is probably a record breaking July heat wave in Scotland, with Irn Bru rationing due to shortages.
Fair enough.
Could we potentially see a top 10 day date complication watches in the future??? The older I get the more I need reassurance of what day it is 😁
Great watch! Lovely colours!
I have a selitta 220 my Sinn 105, it has a vertical day date, super nice!
To me it looks like the Hour and Minute hand as well as the minute indices and the brand name are printed in a dark Navy Blue.
I love a day date and if I had the option I would only ever buy them. Sadly as you say they are not that common. I'm a shift worker and have been working four on and four off for nearly thirty years so my week is basically four days long it is easy to lose track of the real world so a quick reminder on the watch is very handy for me.
Get a watch with an ETA or a Sellita day date movement. The day and the date change instantly. The Seiko NH35 takes almost four hours every night…
Hi Jody.. it might be middle of winter in Sydney but you are still sporting a T shirt... it's middle of summer here in Ireland and I've got a bloody jumper on...
Got my eye on the TONNEAU- looks really classy
My first auto was an entry level Seiko day date. I underappreciated that watch through not using it properly.
That is really nice, I can't afford one and yes day and date would be nice to see on more watches.
Great looking summer watch! Please review more from farer if you can. There's so many different models I like the look of!
Farer is a great brand with many interesting designs. For me, this is not one of them. The colours are fun, but pretty much the whole thing just doesn't float my boat. That said, I agree on the day-date. It would be very welcome to see more brands having fun with that. I do find it has use especially when travelling or on field-expedition type watches when it's easier to fall out of touch with the work week.
Absolutely gorgeous watch
Great shirt- a Datsun 510 was our family car when I was a kid in the early/mid-80s. Love the colors on the watch, very summery.
A car? I thought it was Scottish for,' That sun!' and (an orange circle for the sun like the Aboriginal flag)- which has understandable significance in a cloudy country. Should I change meds?
@@jaysterling26 nah, you’re good
I've been watching Farer for a few years now but I've not seen one yet that does it for me, I'll keep looking. I've got more day/date watches than anything else one of which is a chronometer grade sw220 in titanium and it gets a lot of wrist time.
I've been thinking about trying an oyster bracelet on my new Farer Freshwater.
My brother would be into that color scheme. He's a Miami Dolphins fan. :) But he doesn't wear mechanical watches, and certainly not for $1,000. :)
Great review of an interesting watch and brand Jodi! Bright contrasting colors become hard to distinguish in deep water or in dark conditions as some wavelengths fade. Dark surrounds on hands markers and indexes will help here, but where you describe surrounds as black on my screen they appear vibrant navy (matching some of the dial printing) and the bezel insert appears a deep teal (matching depth rating dial text). Seems like the coloration is interesting, captivating even, but not tool-like.
Love the watch on the whole, don’t like a day / date. I know what day I woke up on. A date is quite discreet on most watches.
