    Those golfers who have criticised Nick Faldo over the years should get down on their hands and knees and prey they have half of his dedication and ability. He was my childhood hero and still watchable and fantastically interesting to listen to. Thank you for this short film.I currently play Taylormade r11's but will look at Mizuno next time.

      Same here - I bought myself a set of Mizunos 25 years or so ago thanks to him. Sadly couldn't hit them half (10%?) as well as he could...in my head I had Faldo's swing. Loved watching him play

      Always been a Nicky fan. Even though he wasn't a power hitter, and kind of "collected" the ball smoothly, he put up the numbers and was always in the hunt at the Masters in the late 80s - 90s. He got everything he could out of his game.

    • @jeremypearson6852
      @jeremypearson6852 Před 2 lety +1

      Agree, players like Westwood, Garcia and Poulter couldn’t hold a candle to him. Unfairly criticized for the Ryder Cup loss, but its the players that play. Both he and Tom Watson didn’t deserve that treatment.

    Wonderful interview, you can see the joy in his face and how can you not be after his career with Mizuno. 7 years ago I was custom fit for MP-58's with the shaft optimizer (DNA system) and can't wait to get custom fit for my MP-25's. Absolutely love Mizuno irons and also looking forward to getting fit for the JPX 900 hybrids, fairway metals and driver

    Still have my TP-11's. I had to have them in 1996. Love them and still use them. I'm currently looking foe some mp-32 irons. But I'll never get rid of my 11's, my 2 iron original, my TP 3 one iron. Thanks mizuno and Nick for all your had work. Mizuno only for me everytim.

    I first played the 7's. 11's and 29's because of Faldo. In the last 25 years I've had nothing but Mizuno's in my bag except for maybe a week and a half of trying something else for a few days before panicking until I got my blades back. Thanks Nick and welcome back!

      They are the best irons period - IF they sponsored tour pros they'd be dominant on tour, but much like Wilson they make their money in other sports. I'll paraphrase the CEO of Mizuno "We do not sponsor players, to us the ultimate mark of quality is when players themselves choose our clubs". There is a huge reason why Mizuno has been the #1 club for unsponsored professionals for the past 30 years - no other manufacturer provides the same level of response or consistency, although I believe Titleist comes close..

    I've played Mizuno MP29s, MP-14s, Mp-33s ... until I tried the TN-87s.
    The TN-87s are beyond compare, it's like hitting marsh mellows!

  • @jeremypearson6852
    @jeremypearson6852 Před 2 lety

    He was the Bryson of his day, very technical. I think players have it so much easier today, because of computers being able to provide instant feedback. Back then it was more feel.

  • @radinsyah1574
    @radinsyah1574 Před 7 lety +1

    Used to play with the MP29s... couldn't hit them consistently good enough (my problem), and I practiced with them at the range till my left palm bled right through the glove. Ever since then, I played at single h/cap. They're the best irons: would give you that instant feedback if something was off in your swing, and give you that buttery feel when you pured it. I believe Faldo used the MP29s and Tiger started with MP14s before the big endorsements came rolling in.

      Going to be pedantic, sorry! the irons he alluded to with no markings, were not actually TP-9's. Admittedly the back of the clubhead did have the Gull-back just like the TP-9. But that is where the similarity ended, he let me look at them at Troon in '89. In fact that model was actually named the TP-P (Personal) and was exclusive to the Tour guys who had contracts with other marques, because of them just having the numbers on the heads and no other markings. Mizuno did this quite regularly for lots of players around this time.

    I wonder why he didn't like his Wilson clubs, because that was at the time the FG17's were out and everyone says how good they are. But even being sponsored by Wilson he still shunned the FG17's and snuck mizuno's in his bag. I would like to know what he didn't like about Wilson clubs?

      @@mizunogolf1906 Domino, Faldo ID forged, TZoid T3, Pro II, MX200, MP59 MP18MMC. Woods Mizuno Monster, TZoid T3, MX560, MX700, JPX800, EZ2016, ST190. Putter Domino 8811 just replaced with vintage TP-P9002 and I just bought a Domino 1 iron for fun with.
      I think the T3 irons went the furthest and easiest to hit. T3 woods I could hit a little fade all day long. ST190 straightest driver I have ever hit. ST190 fairways the equal of the T Zoid fairways but not as high flight. EZ2016 biggest carry but span up. Favourite club Faldo ID forged 2 iron. Domino putter great on fast greens but not on slow or seeding greens. Best feeling in the world MP59.
      If I could pick anything to fill my bag with right now I would pick a modern full sized 450cc T Zoid T3 and the old deep faced fairways and a set of T3 irons and give up the feel of forged clubs. And I love forged clubs so much.

    Great video Nick, I used Mizuno TP9s back in the 90s, great irons. Do you know what irons Seve had in his bag, I know you two were friends, I heard they were Mizuno TP Originals, he seemed to have so many different club sponsors depending on where he was playing in the world.

    Hi Mizuno, what was the reason behind Sir Nick moving from the TN-87's from the '90/'91 season to the Tp-19's in 1992? Was Sir Nick behind their development? The Tn-87's are considered by some to be the greatest blades Mizuno have ever produced. I'd love to hear the story.
