I had this rink a couple years ago and it worked quite well. The secret to making it work was putting layers of water down and progressively freezing the rink. My hose was frozen so I filled the rink with pots of water. It worked extremely well. I highly recommend this rink if you freeze it in that matter.
As a former ice tech/zamboni driver for a couple private rinks and briefly in the OHL, this exactly. Layers. Progressively freezing. Making the "pool" as level as possible so your ice is an even thickness. Honestly if you do it right and take time to set it up properly, this would be more than adequate for a kid-size practice pad.

There are a couple reasons why it didn’t work
The rink being blue makes it significantly harder for the ice to freeze because it’ll attract the heat from the sun. The rink also doesn’t seem like it’s even big enough to have 4 inches of water, so it can’t support a person.
Agree. Plus what happens the first time you skate over the inflatable part.
What do you mean? The inflatable part was only to hold in the water until it freezes....if you skate over the edge the rink is still frozen solid and not going anywhere.😐
@@gnp5278 yeah until the temperature goes above freezing and the ice melts some of the water and you can't refill it. That makes it useless. If you like items that are one time use be my guest.

Back in the day, we would make slush in buckets and just pack it on the ground into a rink shape. Then after it froze, we would spray water over it making layers of ice. It worked great! Our only mistake was to put the net towards the house. Took out a couple of windows! Ooops!

I GOT ONE OF THESE A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND NEVER GOT TO USE IT THANK YOU FOR REVIEWING IT!
I actually had one of these before, but what we did was use around 15 folded towels to lift up the sides so we can fill it with more water and it worked somewhat decently. Definitely had to patch up a bunch of holes though

Buy it again, shovel the area, wet that area a bit, put it down, inflate it, do light sprays with garden spray nozzle for a few days. Don't spray it with snow on it or if it's going to snow on it while its freezing, don't let snow stay on it, you can push snow to cover those balloons from sunlight.. Get like 4inches of ice but also try and keep it out of direct sunlight. -8c or colder best fore ice making. Don't spray another layer until last one completely freezes. The thicker the spray the longer it takes, but always start with the flattest surface possible when picking a spot to lay it down. I'd like to see you do this again but follow those rules. The only failure should be the sun warming up the blue coloured material. Challenged!

Pro tip: youre supposed to spray the water evenly by layers, it takes a long time though. The product does seem shabby.
Exactly! He's talking about ponds being frozen. Does he know the pond isn't frozen all the way through?! Even if he did half inch layers, it would be better than what he did.
i’m a newfoundlander, my father has made many ODR for us over the years. your first mistake was flooding it! you need to do the ice in layers.
however this inflatable thing is junk LOL but for future ODRs, pour the water in layers. let it freeeze, add another thin layer and so on. it takes a long process to get it right
It seems like he screwed every bit of it up. He just flopped it on unlevel grass, didn't give it enough time to freeze didn't go deep enough etc.
