MY PROFILE:
I started fishing when I was just a young kid and instantly fell in love with Bass Fishing. Started fishing tournaments when I was in high school and have been fishing them ever since. For years I fished every tournament I could enter sometimes fishing as many as 45 tournaments a year. I qualified for the Elites when I was 30 but didn't have the sponsors or money to compete so I turned it down. Got sponsor support later and fished the FLW Tour for 2 years and having been fishing the Toyotas since 2006. I’ve won 5 Angler of the Year Titles becoming the only fishermen to have more than 3 AOYs in the Toyota series. Won numerous events along the way that has helped shape my way into working for Strike King as head of product innovation. Along the way, I picked up a camera and started filming my endeavors. I have now fallen in love with making videos about fishing and delivering it to you. Follow along the journey...it should be an honest and fun ride!

He did go on Luke Dunkin's podcast a after the Eufala win and I'm sure that hurt Boyd's feelings.
I watch this channel for a lot of reasons. The MAIN reason I watch this channel is that Todd always has "receipts" as they say. He never speaks out of pocket and always explains the why. Never says do this because I said it's right to that's the way it is because I said it's right. He always tells us why about every answer he gives us

Zach has been calling MLF on their BS, so now he gets punished for it. Not a surprise, maybe he needs to wear a FBD hat at the next event.
I guarantee you that if one of there ( MLF higher ups) favorites, that DQ of weight wouldn’t have happened
I was watching when Zach said he was pissed because they had called the boat official and he had already been told what he was doing was ok. Sure was suspicious how all of the sudden everything changed that quick. Zach was the only one really fishing the rest where scoping and he was wearing them out with the swim jig. Smells like FBD move to me. Pretty sorry if that’s how it went down. FBD is going to ruin those guys they better look who they strapped there livelihoods to.
And I don't think they ever showed him again on live after that 😊

If you look at who has won this year, having the same techniques & technology as last year, it makes you wonder what kind of rods they are using this season!
Also, what their relationship is with Sponsors, tournament organizers, covering networks & share holders! At some point and time you will start to consider what the odds of winning consecutive tournaments is against a stacked field. Then what measures can be taken to prevent whoever else is appearing as the clear winner against your interests! If you get my drift…
Point is, if you can’t beat Bass at the game then marketing the best angler in the world or multiple is a strong way to corner the market.
Getting rid of your insider threats is going to be a must along the way also….but what would I know 🤷🏻♂️
MLF seems to revolve around 2 anglers. One in my opinion is a habitual liar. The other who’s his bestie idk about.

Are those 2 people named #1 wheeler n a buddy named Connell if I spelled it right. I been a part of BASS for 45 yrs since I was 10. I have no respect for Mlf anglers in general for what went down in 2019 as I feel all those anglers who went to mlf turned their back on the organization that gave them their start and fame. Only thing I can think of is when you call the tournament director let them know you're recording the phone call for record that way they're forced to stand by their ruling... at least that way everyone can hear exactly what was said. I'm with you, I'd be pissed if this happened to me especially when theres this kind of money on the line. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
As a tournament director, my first decision is what i ride with for that tournament. I can be proven wrong later or have a better decision. But once that decision is made in that moment its made. I lean towards what fair for everyone involved not just the angler asking and sometimes it pisses people off, but its the only way to be fair for everyone.
You know who made this call who else would have that much sway over the tournament director. #FBD

Doesn't just get out on the bank, he got out and walked on a private dock to get a fish that he had hooked up on on the other side of the walkway.. I think we all know who we're talking about! He gets it back in the boat and I think he got an 8 to a 15-minute penalty.. then you got Adrian avena leaving the boat and swimming down to a brush pile to unhook a fish that is hung up in a brush pile, again a few minute penalty!! But Zack ask his official.. CAN I DO THIS THING? ,"yes you can".. he sinks his boat down a little bit to get under the bridge, never pushes it. Nothing! And then they take CATCHES away... Like WTF? Just another MLF circle jerk. But look who the ring leader is.. #FISHINGBOATDOCKS

Very clear rules violation. TD and Assistant TD and anglers are supposed to know the rules.

18. COMPETITORS MUST REMAIN IN BOAT:
a. During the event days, MLF Anglers cannot leave the boat to make the boat more accessible to fishing waters. If the boat becomes lodged while attempting to gain access into fishable water, the MLF angler can leave the boat without penalty to attempt to dislodge. If the angler does dislodge the boat (by pushing) into the area they were attempting to enter, they must immediately exit this area. The MLF angler can continue to attempt access into such area, however, if access is accomplished it must be done so while the angler was inside the boat.

Spot on, because now everyone still has to wonder even if they call the TD will it stand? Will the TD say one thing now and another later? What is the sense in calling a TD if decision like that can happen. Make a call, right or wrong, you have to stick with it.

All the drama in tourney fishing now a days is becoming tiresome. I love to compete but damn it’s sucking out the fun. I don’t watch anything on TV anymore and only watch a 3 maybe 4 guys on YT. The rest are just salesmen. Guess I need to just keep to myself and go fish..

Have no idea what is going on regarding MLF but seems like they are really giving our sport a black eye. If it is their idea of publicity is not working. Congratulations to you and Russell on your accomplishments. You made a smart choice on what trail you were fishing this year.

I think it's lawsuit material!
The PGA tour made it against the rules for viewers to call in for rule infractions. It added controversy that was unhealthy for the game. Instead, major events now have rules officials who monitor the video broadcast and resolve issues as they arise. These officials can also acquit players if they couldn't see an error with their own eyes or if they made a reasonable decision in the situation.
The director asked Zack if he had an electric drain plug, and Zack told him no. He would have to get out of the boat. The director then told him yes, he could do it. Zack even had the top boat official in his boat when he did it. MLF acknowledged their mistake and overturned the penalty and gave him his 7 fish back, along with his points and money.
I don't watch MLF anymore. And I don't know of one of my fishing buddies that watch it anymore. And all this drama is why I don't. #FBD
Man I don't know how you kept for beating the crap out of that director, man I would have made sure he'd never want to be a director again! But as for Zack I watched it live, didn't seem he did anything wrong according to what JT Kenny was saying, that would definitely suck!🎣👍
The BPT part of MLF is an absolute train wreck. I feel badly for Andy Morgan and Bryan Thrift, a couple of my favs, as they are on a sinking ship. Be careful, as you know the Toyotas are part of the MLF family.

Spineless directors can sure screw you over.
They dq his fish after they posted it all over social media praising him for doing it. Make that make sense.
I guess they just forgot about Kieth poche getting out and pushing his boat all over the place during heavy hitters.
Why did he have to get out of the boat to pull the drain plug. Every boat including mine has the drain plug set up where you can pull it or put it back from the back compartment of the boat and never have to get out.

I understand fully your thoughts. This sounds strange but it also applies in Law Enforcement. I am a retired State Trooper of 25 years. We put bad guys in jail and they would be walking the streets before we could get our paperwork done. Some Judges don't like cops. Most do but there are some that "twist" the Law and read it a different way. I never lost a case but have seen it first hand in the court room with other officers. I guess the Judges like State Police better than local police. I don't know. I felt bad for some of these officers as the facts in the case in a court room revealed that the guy was guilty of the crime charged with but the Judge let the Idiot off. A slap in the face to the Law and Law Enforcement Officers regardless what Agency the Officer was with. I love bass fishing and am old school. I helped direct Tournaments years ago. Back when you could only use a 150HP outboard motor in a Tournament. I caught one guy with a 150HP motor cowling but I checked the serial number on the motor and it was a 235HP Evinrude. That was a clear violation so I told them to get a different boat and come back which they did and everything was "jake". If the Marshall in the boat told Zach Birje he could do it then that settles it in my book. The argument would then be between that boat Judge and the Tournament Director. The angler should not get any penalty. PERIOD.
You guys should put wakeboarding fat sacks in your boats so you can pump them full, Lower your boat down and then you can pump all the water back out.

When I asked him about it, he said it was because of people staying at houses with boat docks. Walking marinas after the meeting looking for bedding fish “practicing” is a bit different. You got permission I’ll give you that I’m just wondering how the conversation went.

TD- “Then you aren’t on the water and it is allowed”. Then Proceeds to announce it to EVERYONE on the meeting that it is ok to do so.
I took a cussing from JB that I shouldn’t have and I’m still upset about, as it was very disrespectful for someone to do, especially to a so called “friend”. You asked me at the ramp and I told you the exact same thing. I guess being “friendly” doesn’t come with benefit of the doubt, or at least a friendly phone call.
I didn’t say a word to you, I called the TR immediately and said it was wrong. It’s always been wrong, no one else asked because for years we’ve been told not too. Guys have been DQd for that in the past. You might not have known but that’s why I didn’t say anything to you.

As much as I hate to say it, MLF tournaments are MUCH more interesting to watch than BASS tournaments are. I'm sure you're right about the drama going on.
Tournament fishing is a real shit show right now. You can’t have pansies running the show either. I’ve been fishing tournaments for 30 yrs and I’ve never seen the horse crap that’s going on. The number one killer of the game is technology, all the way from cell phones to big screen tv’s on the front deck. In my opinion if you leave your boat unless it’s an emergency your disqualified. Period!!!
The real question is, did he tell the TD he had to get out of the boat to remove the plug. IF he did tell the director that part AND the director said it was fine then someone needs to be sued. BUT if he didn't tell him he had to get out of the boat to remove plug then shame on Birge

My understanding was he asked permission to pull his drain plug to get under a bridge, but did not ask to get out of the boat to pull his drain plug. He was given permission to pull the plug. Never got permission to leave the boat. Crazy ... many boats still have the old style plug. But since he didnt get permission to "leave the boat", was penalized. Not sure if that is right of course . Seems like he sorta got set up though.
No,the tournament director asked him if it was a remote drain plug and he said no it’s a regular drain plug that you take out manually,tournament director knew he’d have to get in the water to take it out

What was explained is the Tournament Director did not know ZB had to get out of his boat to physically remove the plug in his boat and this is what caused the infraction. If the question was can I remove my plug and not can I get out of the boat to remove the plug then that’s where the problem happened. Lots of boats do not require us to get out of the boat to remove the plug now. So we would need to know the wording of the question to the tournament director

Seems like it should be cut and dry. If the tournament director said you can do it. Then it’s done. If he finds out or decides later “ I should have told him no you can’t do that “ to late for this tournament, he can make the change on the next one. This is just one of the many reasons I don’t watch MLF anymore.

Them penalizing birdge is dumb and sounds fishy to me. Sounds like they are punishing him for other reasons we don't know about. I also heard a failed poly was a 1k fine. An angler was asked about getting way points prior to day 1 and he failed. They fined him 1k. Seems fishy to me

sounds like there needs to be a digital written handbook that every angler can refer to instead of reaching out and asking a tournament director. Second there need to be other processes added so there is less ambiguity and more than one set of eyes can see. I have a few ideas that can eliminate all of these issues. However, we know how people are. They dont want solutions, they just want to complain.
