UPDATE - After using the Hero 12 for a month now - I would recommend using HDR over LOG in most situations. The LOG files can be a bit tricky to work with - and I've found the HDR delivers similar if not better dynamic range. If future updates change this I'll definitely make an updated video 🤘🏽
yes but is there an HDR 8:7 or 4:3 @4k60fps or 5k60fps?
@@octny Log 8:7 5.3k only gives you an option now of 24 or 25 frame rate

For a past 10 meter dive, should I use LOG or HDR? I want to have a better color with the fishes and corals.

Great job on the video Danny. Just a heads up on one thing. You can leave HYPERSMOOTH "ON" or "OFF" (it doesn't matter) for the following camera models. I tested this myself and it's also listed on the GoPro Player website. Makes it easier to not have to think about this stuff sometimes; :)
- Cameras with all video modes supported (including HyperSmooth): HERO12, HERO11, HERO11 Mini, HERO10, HERO9, HERO8.
- Cameras with limited video modes supported (videos are supported if EIS and HyperSmooth is OFF during capture): HERO7, HERO6, HERO2018, HERO5 Session, HERO5.

I'm glad you mentioned the ISO limit when shooting in log. I've heard a few people say that GoPro does not do well at higher ISO. In your experience, is the grain and noise bad when you get above 400?

Can you go over go HDR video quality? Is is worth it over GP log
I always take video in linear mode and DLog. It's specially good in low light condition and in the night. Of course, it's far from phone quality, but it's brighter than in hdr and normal
You should make a video how to watch your GoPro 5.3 or 4K videos in 4K or 5.3 on your large screen in the same quality you recorded them assuming of course your big screen is capable of either 4K or higher for the 5.3k like my Sony is an 8k!

Are the settings you stated in the beginning of this video good for a novice like me going on a snorkeling adventure . And a zip line adventure. I want to to make some good videos . Great video! This is a matter of opinion, but I prefer to lock my ISO by setting the min and max, usually at 100 unless I need more exposure. How do other people feel about that?

Do the pro settings selected in this video cause the camera to overheat? If not, what exactly does cause the overheat condition that so many others mention as a problem with this camera?
I am just learning the camera, but I think it is the batteries that over heat. If you have a spare battery, you can swap it out and keep on recording.

Raw video with my 12 looks exactly the same, no matter 1080P, 4k or 5k....using VLC media.... My GoPro8 puts out better 1080P raw video than 12's 4k.... where am I going wrong? PC is fairly new gaming system that works well with my old Gopro...

Im the only one who found the gp log profile really moshy, even after color correction ? While the flat color profile retain way more details
It depends on the situation a lot. Any low light ang I agree its a bit tough to process

Yes. I was shocked how mushy the G-Log looked after using the G-Log LUT also. Also very noisy in the shadows. Something is wrong, and these corrupt influencers are not telling the truth. Flat profile always looked fine.
Something definitely wrong with the log. It is unfixable in post

Warning ⚠️ please don’t buy it this is garbage I had bad experience with go pro 11 which is the same coming problem with all go pro is over hitting and frozen and bugs and you don’t have date in any recording plus the uploaded videos take eternity I got trouble with mine the first day and It’s very hard to deal with technical support they tell me to change to standard recording which was the same problem, I never used again I waist my money and time and now they try to contact me to renew the subscription haha 😂for what , i didn’t use my camera from beginning and they keep contacting because of failed card, go pro piece of trash , sh yeah even the back screen are very Primitive same like nokia phone from 2000
