Mach Speeder, the futuristic racer custom - EP28

- In this video I take a Hot Wheels Mach Speeder and customise it into a realistic futuristic racer!
I use various techniques and tools to get the job done, including a wheel swap using some nice Matchbox wheels and brush painting body details.
Also if you haven't already please do check out Opa's Diecast Restorations, He's awesome and is one of the very few CZcams customisers that give these much unloved fantasy castings the time they deserve.

Another calm soothing video from Alvarez,, Giggling the next Bob Ross of Hot Wheel Cars
Wow. A radical shift in the overall look of the car.
Thanks for keeping the videos flowing during difficult times...
Thanks man, stay safe 🍻
You do the same bud...
Nicely done my friend
Wow. Great job turning another fantasy casting into something I would actually pay money for!
The mach speeder was already my favriot casting but this custom is insane
I absolutely love what you did with that car. I’m always a little bias toward futuristic but realistic builds like yours...cars that could have easily fit into the current season of Westworld. Fantastic work!
Thanks Jim!
I would just customise muscle cars and classic rally cars if I could but things like this are a welcome change.
Don't worry normal service will resume next episode 😂
Alvarez's Diecast Customs 😂😂😂 Your assistants are ready, willing and able 😂😂😂
Fantastic job on this car ! Just getting away from the goofy hot wheels paint job and giving it some proper detail makes all the difference !🍻
A well detailed casting with some potential...
An EXCELLENT customization job!!.. A very futuristic racer indeed!!.. Keep up the great work Bud!!
I think I said it before, but I'll say it again. I'm not a huge fan of fantasy cars from hotwheels, but you make them a lot more down to earth and nice looking. I'm definitely a fan of this one now
Thanks buddy! Mission accomplished then 😂
Nice job on the small fine details too!!
Definite improvement, especially the wheels!
I reckon this is my fav build of yours, i've watched it several times, really inspiring. I'd love to see more of this style :) it gives me a ton of gaslands inspiration, i know you didnt intend it to be gaslands, but i reckon they dont always have to be mad max style, some of the corporations have funding to sponsor cars like this, still grimey, but high tech and not made out of junk. Keep up the amazing work! :D
Thanks Ashley, I really enjoyed this build too and yeah the techniques I used on this closely follow the gaslands builds I have done.
I took inspiration from an old series of video games called Wipeout for this, the almost post apocalyptic futuristic setting always fascinated me as a kid.
I like the result👍 but The raw look was even better for me, and same for the original wheels but in another color 😉
Thanks! We all have our personal faves.
I'm thinking about doing a raw metal build sometime. However the raw metal itself goes very dull overtime so maybe a clear coat could help with that hmmm 🤔
Great custom bud 👍
Thank you Danny 🍻
Excellent job my friend that's a whole lot better than the original! Plus you gave me some ideas on some of the wild race cars that I've got!
Thanks Opa.
Hope you don't mind me plugging your channel at the end of the video 👍
@@AlvarezAzel not a bit my friend and thank you very much!
Totally hooked on these! I love your customs!!
Like this a lot Alvarez. The interior looked really good too. Peace, respect and be safe, Ben
Fair play, you took an unwanted thing and made it look phenomenal. And I I can get what you were were saying about "Wipeout" because this looks similar too
Thanks Andrew 🍻
@@AlvarezAzel Very welcome 😊 Thanks for rejuvenating my enthusiasm to do customs.
@@andrewphippsphillips1455 Hah no problem! If i can even get one person interested in getting into this hobby then my work is done :D
Too cool! Now I'm going online shopping for the oil and powders you used (the links in the description didn't work for me...). Thanks for some more fantastic ideas for customs. I have a few of these fantasy racers in my start-up junkers box. Thumbs up again. Nice that you gave a shoutout to Opa too. I think he rocks.
Thanks for letting me know the links are not working, i'll get onto sorting those out today and update them in any videos I used them :)
Nice aftermarket wheels..
Its a funny/sad story about this casting. My now-recently-deceased partner Nicola bought me the original release of this model in white with the orange/blue plus the bronze aero wheels when it was out. I had no interest or enthusiasm towards this but kept it anyway because she had bought it because she thought it was cool. A few weeks ago I was having a purge on the vast amounts we both collected and I completely forgot about the fact she had bought it, so I put it in a box with 200 others and was sold on. By chance I found this blue version after regretting my mistake recently, because I have gradually become to appreciate it actually looks quite cool after all. Maybe Nic was a bit of a visionary in her own unique way(?)
Furthermore, your conversion of this one's looks to something much much more professional has prompted me to pick up myself a couple spare of this art cars version, that I will use some metallic sprays on, perhaps add some fine details to with a deep copper / gold combo where I do most of the parts one colour in each, then swap the parts to make two colour contrasted models.
I have since found another one exactly like the one Nic bought me, so I don't feel bad any more 😇
That's a very touching story Andrew, it's pleasing to know just looking at these things can bring back some fond memories, they are more than just toys at times.
I always try to look at these odd castings in a different perspective, most as you said would just pass them by but I can see potential in many of them, in fact i'd say I prefer doing these types of customs over the simple muscle car makeover, I mean a muscle car is always going to look sweet but one of these garish wonky things? Nah. but given some thought you can come up with something rather special and unique.
I'd say your Nicola was a visionary, she's was also no doubt about it something very special in her own right.
@@AlvarezAzel Yeah thanks Alvarez, yes she seemed to see something in the model I couldn't. It did closely resemble a fish in some ways according to her but it was the colours of white with blue/orange and those bronze shopping trolley wheels I think.
Did you know that particular one ended up as a postage stamp among a set of 10 produced by UPS in the United States? Others include the Twin Mill, Rodger Dodger and the black First Edition Bone Shaker in black with white "pirate" logo on the doors? I was lucky to get a set and framed them recently.
@@andrewphippsphillips1455 That's really cool, I didn't know Hot Wheels were put onto postage stamps at all. I'm guessing the machspeeder is a respected casting for them, it is very striking to look at thats for sure.
Great custom build.
What size is the brass tube you used to join the axles? Was it same as your 180sx build 1mm inner?
Keep up the great vids, i always enjoy them.
Cheers
Thanks!
Yeah it's the same tubing 1.2mm outer 1.0mm inner.
The pack had enough tubes to last year's so I have been using it ever since I started these 👍
