- Inspired by traditional oil paintings, sculptor Elliot Walker works with molten glass at exceptionally high temperatures and speed to create unique 3D still life sculptures. Step inside his studio to see each stage of this extremely challenging process, as he creates a new work made up of three-dimensional sliced fish, in response to a tiny fragment of a Middle Eastern glass beaker in our collection.

I love listening to him explaining what he’s doing, it’s so informative. He’s such a talented artist
Agreed, hearing the explanation is so much better than silence or music.
Stunningly beautiful work from Elliot Walker! Very impressive!
Compliments as well to the V&A social media team, for consistently producing very interesting and inspiring high quality education videos!
I loved watching Elliot compete in Blown Away. He is sooooo talented.
Yes!! I first saw him here and when I recognised the name I was like OMG ELLIOOOTTTT !!
i on the other hand deeply value creating very clean and simple three dimensional shapes with extreme color patterns. its almost child like in comparison to being a sculptor first and a glassmaker second. I have always admired the hell out of guys like this.
An absolutely magnificent interpretation of the original piece. I love it. So creative and yet true to the original. Bravo.
The cross-section of the fish is so cool
Love it! Glass is magic, and the work of Elliot is very beautiful
These are the only moments I ever dream of being rich. I am however content with just knowing there still is beauty made in the world most of the time.
Sooo beautiful! The effect of the interior of the fish or the orange are amazing
Watched with my little guy - he’s 6 - and he thought it was the coolest thing ever!
I would love to see his work how talented.
I think he won the 2nd season of Blown in Glass in Netflix.
You'd be very welcome over to Elliot Studio in Stourbridge. We have lots of his work on display in our gallery alongside the studio and over at the Stourbridge Glass Museum across the road from us.
His work is phenomenal! Such an interesting video.
Absolutely Gorgeous brother, very striking to rhe eyes, incredible, fantastic finish
I would love such artwork in my house, but I have a hairy inhabitant who is not safe around such objects! Lovely to see how they're produced, thank you :)
Wow. Sensational! What skill and what a pleasure to see how that skill is used to make such a beautiful piece. Thank you.
Amazing! Thanks so much for sharing
Love seeing the finishing touches of polishing and cutting. I love watching glass blowing.
GORGEOUS!!! This made me think of knitting, which I do, and how, in a way, you can 'undo' a glass piece and redo it again and again, much like a knitting project. What a creative dance, with an assistant as well. You don't create glassworks like that completely on your own.
This is so mind blowing. How the flesh and bone and skin has been created . it's the most incredible piece of glasswork I've ever seen. Amazing!
Thank you God, for giving me eyes to see something so beautiful, and such talent in action!
What an expert - Elliot's work is stunning and has explained the complicated process so clearly. Thank you so much.
Awesome work !
Amazing talent & imagination. Absolutely fascinating to watch Eliot in action

How beautiful!🐠🐠🐠
There were a lot of talented artists in the 2nd season of Blown Away but he was my favorite. Nice to hear him talk about his process!
Amazingly beautiful!!!
Bravo! Elliot. The video is riveting and makes one appreciate the skill and design that goes into these pieces.
What a fascinating video. The finished project is gorgeous.
Just amazing!
Fabulous.
Magnificent piece 👏🏻🌟
Your work is truly extraordinary! ❤
What a great video and such a talent. Loved watching this. 😊
Amazing work!
Superb!
So interesting--and impressive!
BRAVO
Amazing 😍
Absolutely amazing artist. Glass is my favorite form of art…..
what an incredible way to reproduce that fragment. thanks for taking us through the process, such stunning results. i live in seattle, washington, in the US, & we have quite a bit of glassblowing/sculpting here, so i've seen more glasswork than the average person. your ideas & pieces are really moving & introspective. bravo, sir! i hope you & your crew continue to create & push the limits long into the future. 😻
WOW!
amazing work!
whoaa! 😍
Wow❤
Youre brilliant. Im an artist and i think a pretty great one but i dont even have to try to do what you do to know it would look like i couldn't use a crayon properly by what i would produce which would be a blob of something before i broke it!!! I heard when I was little do what you're passionate about and be the best at it, the best in the world even, and sir i believe you are. I live a short distance from Corning glass which they claim to be the best in the world. you make them look like amatures. I'm truly so extremely impressed that i want to cry. Beauty does that to me.
I really enjoy watching demonstration on the Corning Museum of Glass channel, they have some of the best blowers on!
I would have loved to get this artist to do me a piece of glass work
Elliot takes commissions! ;)
That was stunning,so beautiful. Usually, when working with high temperatures fireproof garments and face guards are used.Could you, please, explain why these are not needed when sculpting glass. Thank you
the heat is really contained in the forge with just the small glory hole for the glass to enter, and then after that its just the one very hot blob, which has no chance of just like randomly exploding. And unlike metal forged products, the artist is not going to get hit with splash-back from pouring or fragments of metal from sculpting.
❤❤❤

What brand is the furnace?
"Art" is a huge waste of resources and a huge addition to waste
So are humans like yourself.
