  • I had the Akrapovic Race (stainless version) standing by but finally found a deal on the Akrapovic Evolution (titanium version) so here are the weight differences for the 2008-2011 CBR1000RR full systems
Evolution titanium headers (with 16 springs, 4 rings, 4 plates, 2 plugs): 5.11 lbs
    Carbon/Titanium canister: 2.48 lbs
    Total: 7.71 lbs
Race stainless headers (with 16 springs, 4 rings, 4 plates, 2 plugs): 7.59 lbs
    Titanium/Titanium canister: 2.79 lbs
    Total: 10.48 lbs
Stock mild steel headers: 7.5 lbs
    Stock cat/muffler: 14 lbs
    Total: 21.5 lbs
-The carbon canister weighs .31 lbs less than the ti canister, good to know.
-The ti headers/carbon canister setup saves 2.78 lbs versus ss headers/ti canister setup.
-The ti headers/carbon canister setup saves 13.8 lbs versus stock.

Uploaded 4 years ago and only 5 comments? A very well detailed comparison between the two.

Hi i have an 06 yamaha r6 50th anniversary ,my budget is very low I'm thinking in leaving the stock headers removing the cat put a y and a slip on do you know if the titanium headers help to improve the sound or does it only help the weight?

Hi there, do you still have both the stainless steel and the titanium exhausts? It would be awesome to hear the difference the material makes to the bike’s exhaust sound.

    Which sounds better ?

I ended up installing the titanium head with the carbon muffler and stashed the rest. The install was a pita though so I'll probably never change it
