ABOUT ME
- I'm Cambodian and Chinese.
- I was born in November of 1983 and raised in Houston, although my heart lays in between Houston and Hawaii.
- "OG KPOP STAN": I've always used the term "OG" (supposedly "original gangster") to define being old-school, and I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Kpop was my coping mechanism from the bullying I experienced in my younger years and it's just stuck by me ever since. Also! Just to be clear: me calling myself an "OG kpop stan" doesn't mean that anyone who's listened to kpop later than me is inferior. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time.😄
- I was a hiphop dancer for about 7 years. I did the whole crew thing, auditioning thing, competition thing, choreography thing, dance instructor thing, so I have some experience in that field and I hope to be able to share some perspective from my experiences for y'all to see the extra things that I appreciate about a video when I point them out.
- My videos can have quite a lot of cuts in editing and/or my eyes will unnaturally blink rapidly sometimes. This is because of my neurological disease that came with my lupus nephritis (posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome). My thinking abilities and speaking abilities struggle to align at times.
- Yes, that's Jack Sparrow's ring that I always wear in my videos. I've been a Pirates of the Caribbean fan ever since I rode the ride for the first time ever in Disneyland when I was a kid.🤓

Apparently, san dancing on the table in the answer mv was impromptu thing in the middle of filming delays:
"Bc of the delay, the director asked San if he would want to dance on the table? San said he would dance.And it came out really well! Then like in a movie scene, all the staffs clapped together&shouted okay! At first the director said they would take his close-up shots? Or dance? Sanie said he would dance. The director asked abt dancing on the table. Sanie said he would try. And it came out really prettily. It was improvised! As expected, professionalism is Choi San’s middle name! 🥺"
Answer is such a beautiful song that sums up the essence of Ateez and their prior title tracks so well! Especially with how the lyrics directly references lyrics from other lyrics of their title tracks
Such as the lyrics mentioning the "crashing waves" (Wave), the "bluish sun' (Illusion), "from the tip to toe say my name" (Say My Name), the "beginning to the end" (Wonderland) and "from the desert we started here" (Pirate King /Treasure debuts)
Answer was also released during the beginning of January 2020, and I just think that the timing was beautiful. The song really just gives a sense of fulfillment and rejoicement
answer and inception are sisters, two of the most emotionally driven ateez tracks. there is this triumphant and euphoric aura about answer, like you said, it's the kind of song you listen to when you need motivation, you need help, you need an escape. and during the time of 2020 and currently where the world seems dark and hopeless, this song just hits different all round. not even bias just facts... answer was one of the best music releases of 2020. period.
The bridge sonically already gives me chills. But seeing that scene of Ateez & Halateez at the table? Ooof *chefs kiss*
Also, they did their, "8 Makes 1 Team," cheer at 13:46 which I didn't even notice the first time I watched them perform this. So subtle but meaningful.

It also sounds epic and emotional because this was the last comeback of their Treasure Era. This was a wrap up of the pirate theme, because they finally found their treasure within themselves. You saw inception earlier and that is actually the beginning of their new era and storyline :) In the old story line you saw Hala Hala right? They are known as Halateez, aka the not so perfect dark version of Ateez. They symbolize that when we can accept the imperfections of our life, the dark, the good and the bad, then that’s the answer we will find within ourselves.
That’s why you see them facing their alter ego selves toasting to them, that’s their way of accepting who they truly are

Yess finally . Jongho voice ita also my favorite his voice is so beautiful but also powerful at the samw time . He goes higher ans higher his vocal technique is soo good and have seen many coaches and reactora impressed by hia voice .
This song is FULL of nostalgia, like it's an end and that's what it was supposed to be. This song completed their Treasure era and tbh-- it marked a new beginning too. You almost feel like there's supposed to be more and I wish I could explain it better. It's so emotion packed and raw and ATEEZ and has been hailed as one of the best songs in kpop of 2020 across so many boards.
Another thing to note is that this song can be seen as an answer to Say My Name/Hala Hala era. In Hala Hala they describe themselves as being burning with passion which is why a lot of people think they're referencing halateez when they talk about fire/burning.
OH that step out you were talking about ~ 14:40 is their sort of,,,, huddle move? they do it and chant "8 makes 1 team" it's their Thing™ I'm so glad you noticed it 😭😭

ateez deserve a lot of recognition.. i’ve been an atiny for a year now and i never felt like this about a group.. they are my support, their music, their videos, their content.. i’m so glad you’re getting into to them! they truly are amazing!!

When i saw ateez's reaction videos more than 15 minutes... I know that there are a lot the reactor wants to say... Because that is ateez... The wow impacts make us keep pause and pause.. Keep us speechless.. Make our brain working hard.. Make our eyes can't blink... 8 makes 1 team.. Always emotional when i see it..
One of my favorite parts of this choreography is Yunhos center part (at 17:53) because he always improvises and changes it for each performance and he makes them related to their storyline. To me the attention they give to such small details and the level of acting they put into their performances is what makes them great.
"Yeonsang is out of this world" Someone finally noticed. He is an amazing dancer but doesn't get much chance to show it. I hope people stop sleeping on him
Yeah, I've definitely cried listening to this song. It's so clear how much they put into it and all the feelings come through. The top vocals throughout get me every time too. Absolutely beautiful.
And as usual I will be appreciating all their dancing more now after seeing this.

The minute I heard Answer I knew it would be my favorite song... like EVER. In my entire life. It was SOTY for me for sure last year. And every year following. My 10,000th time listening to it and I still feel my heart clench.
Hi. I super love your reaction. Answer came out last year but the feels never gets old. Just like you, I always feel so emotional whenever I'm hearing or watching them performing this song. The amount of passion they're putting into this track is too much to handle. It always brings me back to where they started. And the way they're telling us their story through this song, their journey is a crazy ride. And they're the best pirate in the industry and no one can tell me otherwise. I hope all their desires and wishes for their career will come true because they're a bunch of talented and amazing boys and also because they deserve it. If you are a fan of choreos I will recommend some of my favourites!
Before I write them I want to say that their songs are connected and they often incomporate moves from their old choreos to tell the story, also you can see a lot of time they use their "8 makes one team" move which is really cute (in Treasure, Sunsrise, From..)
- Treasure + Precious transition - Treasure as we know it's the start of their Treasure/Pirate era and Precious is the end so both songs are connected also the choreos so it's really amazing to see! They start Treasure the way they end Precious!
- Sunrise - Hongjoong wrote this song during his trainee days and this song shows how how he felt when he had no one to train with when he came into the company, when one day after 6 months, Yunho came in, and one by one, the other members did as well. Like, if you see the choreography, you can see how the way they incorporated this story into the song.
- Utopia - easy one of my favourites also telling a story, it's very powerful and emotional
- From (ver. 2020) - This is their pre-debut song that HG wrote while they were training in LA, they performed it in 2020 with the same clothes/style incomporating the moves from all of their comebacks showing where they have started and how they are going now, it's very emotional stage with letters to Atiny
- Their Special stages on their first tour Expedition tour - You will fall inlove with all of them, they dance on american songs
- Their 2 Immortal song performances - they are a must, they are the first 4th gen group and 6 overall to win the show

The transitions in any Ateez choreography are always so fluid and it's so visually pleasing as well. It's one of my favorite things about them!

Regarding the feeling emotional part, i definitely agree. I eventually decided it was because this sound is actually very much an early 2000s kpop kind of sound (like TTL by tara and supernova, i did wrong by 2am, let's not... by super junior, lies and haru haru by big bang - but with new blood), a very anthemish and victorious but also bittersweet kind of vibe. Early kpop songs had that about them, there was a lot of emotion put in it, and not so many English words (not that English words dilutes the meaning, but there's just something about a korean song that is almost entire... Korean, yknow?).
So for me, it made me feel intense nostalgia and longing for that time, but also like made me glad of the way we've come and still arrived here together because of music.
Answer literally the best thing that happened to k-pop in 2020. She is so theatrical, she makes you cry but also wants you create arson at the same time.
You said it was show finale kind of like thing. Well it's the one that put an end to their treasure series.

Answer englobes all their previous songs as it marks the end of all the Treasure era, that's why you hear the members talking about the references of the other songs that were made for the whole journey. Mingi talks about say my name, Yeosang adresses their begining in Pirate King, Hwa and Yunho talk about the waves and that they're not scared anymore and at the end you have Halateez and Ateez sitting together making peace (or many of us thought so) until the man in white comes to the scene; and I can go on on the reference thing.
Even when you don't know much about them you just feel the emotion and it drives you through the whole song. I told you early this but thank you for reacting to them, and I hope they can be a part of your life now, once you see their MAMA tomorrow and how they performed this, you will be more enchanted than now. And I can't wait to see you react to the guide by ETINI, I'm not gonna miss it!
YES! SOMEONE SAID IT! "Yeosang is out of this world". He's the most underappreciated member in ATEEZ, his dancing is insane (I personally think he's one of the best in the group) and his voice is so unique and I love it. He's my second ult bias after Gahyeon.

Answer was the song that got me into Kpop as a whole. I'm like emotionally attached to this song. I completely agree on the whole wave of emotions this one puts us through. For a change of scenery, I would highly recommend Wave! Another favorite tbh but the vibe that Wave throws off is chef's kisses.
The melody is very emotional, it feels like an epic ending of a saga. It happened to me too.
And San and Seonghwa absolutely killed this, I can't take my eyes off of them. Their lines are sooooooooo beautiful.

a theory is that the white mask man is the boss of a dystopia anarchy world where Halateez live. They went to the past in wonderland to meet ateez in answer to make a deal with them to beat the big boss... Halateez want to turn the time back because they have this hourglass in the short movie FEVER :)

From the first time I heard it Answer always makes me feel kinda emotional when I hear it too. This was the perfect notification to wake up to as I'm super ill today (not covid thankfully) and can't get out of bed, so thank you for really cheering me up with this reaction
I always appreciate their awesome choreography and the way they move their bodies. Yet, seeing it through your trained eyes somehow makes the experience richer.
That's what i always feel about Ateez.. Their songs makes me emotional but the intensity is still there.. I love that feeling, only Ateez can do that to me, that's why they are my ult group.. Also they always produce a good songs.. Thanks to all the producers that make a bop songs for them..

jongho is so, SO underrated. ive noticed he gets ignored a LOT. which maks me hesitant to get more into ateez, because hes my bias, and sh*t like that HURTS. i mean, without his voice would that be ateez???HELLO???why is everyone being so ignorant when it comes to that cutie?it makes me so sad... ive seen people on twitter point out how bad he gets treated btw so its not just me noticing this...hes more than "the guy breaking fruits with his bare hands" or "that high note guy" please stop sleeping on him

I don't have a problem with people having a different bias....but what i do have a problem with, is when they undervalue my boy's talent (which I tend to see people do to Jongho the most out of Ateez). Can you believe that I once came to find a youtube video ranking ateez, SK and TXT? And this person had the nerves to rank Jongho last in the main vocalist category. The whole comment section went feral on her ass....including people from other fandoms, so sure, I know that you might feel that he is being ignored but there are alot of persons who recognize him (it's hard to ignore or deny the boy's talent)....he is currently one of the best (if not the best) vocalist in kpop, he has cemented his name among the G.O.A.Ts.
While I agree Jongho doesn't get the attention he deserves, Yeosang gets swept under the rug even more. As of yet, I haven't seen any reactors who bias Yeosang.

You emote so much of what I feel when I watch Ateez. Their "pre debut" performances gave us a glimpse of their strengths. But even their B sides (like Win) or softer songs (like Aurora) just showcases brilliant textures in their choreo. (I hope on your Patreon you get to some of their other live stages.) .... when I watch any of their dance vids, I either sit in awe or feel like I'm jumping out of my skin bc of what they communicate in their movement!

Pretty much every point you made in your reaction is why this is my favourite Ateez song, video, and choreography. 😍 But I'm so impressed with everything they do that it's hard to REALLY choose favourites. I’m just extremely biased towards Answer. 😅 I know you have a lot of content to go through, but another song of theirs that has KILLER choreo, in my opinion, is Horizon. I would highly recommend checking it out if you get the chance because after seeing all your previous Ateez reactions, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. 😊👍
