The audio in the tutorial side is only on the left speaker and not both sides on my headphones and speakers but there is a way to fix it in DaVinci Resolve. Other than that, great video!
I found a quickfix... Simply drag those video files into "Photos" app on your Mac. Once done, drag those files back out into a different folder (It can't be the same folder that you imported from). It will take a while to export those files but somehow those exported new files will be compatible with resolve in perfect color. Hope this helps.
Awesome. I'll give this a whirl - thanks for the tip!
Once the video put in Mac photo app it compressed, how could I solve that?
Hey onlyplants, this was driving me NUTS. First I thought it was Adobe Premiere, now DaVinci? I was so frustrated....until I saw your comment.
THANK YOU!! Your tip fixed my problem.
This worked perfect for me! Thanks so much. I had a feeling it was going to have to go through photos to get it right
Bro thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow i have watched so many videos on this and nothing helped.
Thank you so much for this. I had exactly the same problem with the footage looking washed out in DaVinci Resolve, and I suspected I needed to do something with the colour, but couldn't find any simple examples online. This has been a life saver. 👍
You’re most welcome. Really glad it helped. It was driving me nuts too. This is still the simplest/quickest solution I have found 🙏🏻
Thank you Hannah. What is your value in the Color Management section of your project Setup? Any tips when rendering the footage before uploading it on CZcams?
Wow thank you so much! I’ve tried different kits, did colorspace overrides from rec.2020 to rec.709, but you showed such a crucial step that got the colors down like a proper hdr to sdr conversion.
You truly saved my footage in time for family on Christmas.
You are very welcome Andrew. I remember having the same feeling when I worked it out. Really glad you have your footage ready in time. Happy Christmas 🎅🏼
This saved me! Was going nuts on this. Could you share what color space settings you have in the project, timeline, and export? I don't see Rec 2020 and Rec 2100 HLG in all those options. Thank you!!!!
Im new in DaVinci, so need extra Help please. I followed the tutorial but after export the video its keep just the same as firts. Which are the correct export settings?
This helped me so much, thank you very much. I was puzzled for so long and even considered to go back to Final Cut Pro because it does not have the same issue. But this solved it for me so thank you!
Amazing. You’re very welcome. I can remember the frustration well! Glad you’re up and running with a solution 🤌🏼
Hello! I got a mac, and when I export my videos from Davinci they get washed out and look more grey, even though I follow those steps... Tips?? This is soo frustrating.. I tried using the "Mac Display color profile for viewers", and then yes, the color looks the same when I export, but its super hard to make the colors look good from start when I use that profile.. HELP
Thank you for your video. which output color space and gamma do you use for exporting? When I export my video with the input setting, the color is a bit changed...I use REC709 (scene) for the timeline color space and output color space.
amazing! thank you so much. just filmed a video with tons of iphone b roll to go with it and was so bummed when the color didnt match. Now I'm back in business
Super glad it helped. I remember the same feeling when I ran into this problem for the first time...
Your videos helped me out so I thought I’d share a new solution that worked for me. For me the issue was a simple formatting problem. All you have to do is go into your iPhone settings, camera, and formats, and change your format from High Efficiency to most compatible, and all the footage you record afterward should look correct in DaVinci resolve. No need for additional color grading.
For some reason DaVinci resolve can’t read IOS’s High Efficiency formatting. It’s like reading a foreign language to DaVinci Resolve.
Amazing - thanks for the update that is great to know!
so what was the extra node for?
Wow this is the first video that really helped with this issue. Although from now on I will anyways not film in HDR anymore, I am very happy at least I can save the videos from the past weeks :-) thank you!
That's amazing - so glad it helped and saved a few videos too :)
so whats the third node for?
You saved my footage! Thank you Hannah for the great video!
No worries Charis - so glad it helped!
这个是我看到过最简单的还原方法,牛!解决了我的大问题!
OMG! lifesaver! after a full day of going nuts, this got me closer to where I wanted to be than anything else I found. thank you!
So glad it helped. I remember exactly the same feeling. Happy editing 🤓
Hi Hannah, thank you so much vor this tutorial!
I just tried this with a video and it worked well.
But I have a "small" problem and maybe you or another person could help me.
I think the problem started with the iPhone 12 and I'm currently using the iPhone 14. So I've been recording private videos with my iPhone for about 3-4 years having this issiue.
In order to then transfer these to my Windows PC, I select “Keep originals” in the Photos settings on the iPhone. If I select "automatically" the timestamp is reset and I don't want that.
However, as you described here, the copied video is not the same as on the iPhone. The colors don't look good/real.
Now, as already mentioned, I managed to improve the colors with the help of your instructions. However, I would also have to do it for over 500 other videos.
Doing all of this individually would be a huge effort.
So my question is:
Is it possible to set the color settings once for several videos in DaVinci Resolve and then export/render them all as individual videos?
This video is really helpful and I think you are facing another problem in audio which is in mono means only the left side of your speaker is works. It can be solved in the edit page in resolve by right clicking the audio of the footage and go to clip attributes. Go to the audio tab change the audio for mono to stereo and drop down as embedded channel 1. I faced a similar problem in resolve when I am only recording the audio. If it’s useful make a video on it too. It will help the others. Thanks
Many thanks for checking the video out. Sorry for audio issues on this one. It was made quite a while ago and had only recently realised through the comments the issues. Thanks for the tip, will use in the future 🙌🏻
how can i apply it to all clips in my timeline?
If you copy the clip it is applied to you can ‘paste attributes’ to as many other clips as you like. Making sure to check the ‘colour corrections’ box for the paste 👌🏼
2:45 sound in right ear gone
Awesome. I've been finding the solution for a long time.
So glad we have a fix. Really annoying otherwise! Happy video editing 🤓
Hi Hannah -- what are you exporting to. Since the export config says "timeline" I assume it will also be exported in HDR? Do you convert it to SDR (Rec 709?)?
The bacon sandwich looks delicious. Now I'm hungry.
Thank you, Hannah, for the help on this.
You're so welcome!
thanks very much, amazing
thank you very much for this tip
You’re very welcome. Glad it helped 😁
Thank YOU!
Very welcome 🙏🏻
Hi, I m unable to add videos from my iphone to the Davinci, it gives me a prompt saying that the format is unsupported even tho it is mp4.
Thank you!! You're amazing!!!!
You’re very welcome. Happy it helped 😄
This is amazing Hannah just brought a iPhone after 10 years always wanted to know this
Amazing. Really glad it was helpful 🙌🏼
Yea Always wanted to know how people get their videos so sharp with iPhone. Then I came across this video
Thank you verry much
You’re very welcome. Glad it helped.
We change the color management inside the project settings:
Color science: DaVinci YRGB Color Managed
Automatic color management: checked
Color processing mode: HDR
Output color space: SDR sRGB
Enable Dolby Vision: checked
Enable HDR10+: checked
Enable HDR Vivid: checked (doesn't seem to do anything tbh)
Awesome thanks for this 😊
Appreciate this so much, Hannah!
Awesome. Thanks Luke 😃
you saved my life thank you
Very welcome Sam - glad it helped 😊
What was the third node in the colour tab for?
Very good point. I forgot to mention, it’s there for any additional creative colour grading if you want to add after 😃
great video, saved my day! thanks
You're welcome! So glad it helped - happy editing 😄
thanks a lot!
thank you
You’re welcome ☺️
it’s helpful,thanks for your sharing
Thanks for watching. Glad it helped 😀
Everybody reapeating the same thing about the input gamma 2100LHG. What about I tried with black magic design gen 4-5 and in my opinion looks better like a real camera. I am not sure at all just tried it and am looking for answer but I didn’t found any video talking about it. Where is the catchy thing because with black magic, colours look not bad at all?
Thanx a lot!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
You’re very welcome Dan, glad it helped 😄
loved your intro!now i want a bacon roll haha! thanks for the quick tutorial! sad about turning off HDR
Bacon roll FTW ✌🏼

Thanks
That was super helpful, thank you so much!
No worries. Glad it helped 🙏🏻
Fantastic tutorial - and bacon roll intro. 😋
Thanks Brian… mmm! Must make another one 🥓🤌🏼
Thank you for the video, however I found an easier hack to this - just import it to Photos and then import the files to Davinci, tada!
Awesome - great tip thanks for sharing!
you forgot to tell us how your project color management is set up. If you use Davinci automatic, then your CST node workflow will not work.
Your video seems to have left channel audio only. I'm on headphones, so it was really apparent. Thanks for the tip tho!
Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaank youuuuuuuuuu🥰
You’re very welcome! So glad it helped… definitely a fix I now use all the time ✌🏻
You are my new bestie!!!
Haha! Life saving tip huh!
Life saver!
Awesome so glad it saved you! Me too...
thank you very much
No worries. Glad it helped 👍🏻
Oh my god! I swear, i watched 15 videos with 500 times more follower than you and yours was the easiest and the best by far and while i writing this the electroswing in the end comes in and i just wow now again haha :D
Ah thanks Daniel. Means a lot to get some nice feedback. Glad it helped too - such an annoying thing in the workflow....
not sure this is the right way to do it. change it in proj settings rather so u start on the right foot
the actual video starts at 2:34. dang. that's almost 50% in. LOL.
god bless madam
You’re welcome 🙌🏼
jipiiiiii - :) thx!
Welcome 🙏🏻
2:34 How to fix
I guessed you were English just by the breakfast roll you were preparing, hahaha!
Haha - it is a dead giveaway ;)
Somehow I can only hear your voice later in the video on one ear!
👍🏻
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
2.5 minute intro to say how you found another video... great content :/
2 mins 40 and still no closer to giving any educational advice.
😂
why do we have to watch you stuff yourself with food?
You don’t have to watch anything you don’t want to 🤣
Graciasss. Luego de horasss buscando, tu video fue el único que encontré y me salvaste horas de trabajo que habíamos invertido grabando, y gracias a @JamieFenn
🙌🏼
Just what I was looking for, thank you for this really helpful video!
