  • HEMET - On 10/06/2020 at approximately midnight, Hemet Fire responded to a commercial structure fire in the 1400 block of East Florida Ave following multiple reports of flames and smoke coming from the Aaron's furniture store located in the strip mall at the intersection with Florida Ave and San Jacinto Ave.
    Heavy fire was located in the roof and at the rear of the building. Hemet requested assistance from Cal Fire and neighboring agencies due to a difficult to control fire that had established itself in a void space in the roof which made accessing the fire challenging.
    Eventually firefighters gained access to the fire and knockdown was achieved in about 40-45 minutes.
    The building suffered minimal interior damage including minimal damage to the contents of the structure. Most of the damage was to the exterior of the building.
    The fire appears to have started in the rear of the building and then extended into the roof arising suspicion about possible arson. The fire is currently under investigation.

    A building fire is an awful thing, but it’s hard to find much empathy when the building is used by a business whose model is built on preying on the most vulnerable/financially illiterate segment of the population.

    • @jays106
      @jays106 Před 3 lety

      yes their prices are extreme but its like going to a convenience store to but anything you pay more for the convenience and they let you have something on payments with no credit needed so yea they gonna charge more in long run i would too if i had to wait to get my money in payments all the while i still have to pay the electric,water,sewer bills, rent for lease of building, and payroll

    • @therayven3147
      @therayven3147 Před 3 lety +1

      @@jays106 you're absolutely right... Aaron's prices are based on overhead cost, and also, you are making payments on the items, it's called interest...
      In all actually, AARON'S prices are quite good considering the amount overhead costs they have to pay out... And then things like this fire drives the prices even higher because *EVERYTHING* inside that store is now non sellable... It's all ruined due to smoke/water damage... Sure, there was "minimal damage to the interior of the building and it's contents"... But the smoke/water ruined everything... It will *ALL* have to be replaced...

      Hemet is a long way from the ocean, they are using AFFF Foam or its modern equivalent, it makes the water penetrate and stick to the wood, slowing the spread of the flames (it has been 30+ years since I fought fires, but much of the stuff is the same)!
