I bought this album when it was new. Then I bought another because I wore out #1. Then the cd came out. I’ve owned about 6 copies of that. One was stolen out of my truck, others I gave away because this masterpiece needed to be shared.
Happy 40th Birthday, Healing. You are my go-to inspirational, uplifting music.
🎁🎶🎵🎧🎻🎤🥁🎸
Todd so good his music is getting stolen
@@moniquekelley9773 Shoutout bootleggers and pirates that are honest businessmen LOL
Stolen CD, That's not right. Todd Rundgren music is so priceless. Especially "Hello Is Me and Banging The Drum All Day/Green Bay Packers theme."
Played on MTV's launch day -- 8/1/1981
#8 that day
A mesmerising blend of playfulness, poignancy and artistry...Todd is a unique talent.
The same can be said about the video too!
"But there's one thing you must believe...time heals the wounds no one can see" 🎶
I want the oldies
Nice songs as usual
Healing is a beautiful yet very strange and emotionally moving and uplifting album that Todd does so well and still is compelling and brilliant today
Here's to one of the greatest musicians of all time!
I love all things Todd Rundgren ! These lyrics still apply today ❤
Ola
He has mastered so many genres of music. He's a Wizard... a True Star!
One of the first music videos to air on MTV.
Yup! Radio star and time heals what an intro
Yes, I remember hearing and watching this video. I was 14/15 years old. Still watching. Todd Rundgren is one in a few of my truly favorite music artists.
@@michaelm1546 yup...
@@michaelm1546 It was the eighth.
Day one and hour one literally of MTV
I love the lick in the solo at 2:00
Funky and amazing
MTV had a limited amount of videos when they first started and this was of them! I love this video now as much as I did then!
They had a "limited amount of videos" only because that's the way they wanted it. There were a LOT of videos they could have played that they simply didn't, or they didn't play them very often.
@@Kohntarkosz no kidding
It's so wonderful and beautiful music!
this makes me think Todd Rundgren and David Byrne could've had a great friendship and a very promising musical collaboration
They’re both notorious control freaks, so my guess is that they actually wouldn’t work well together at all
Todd's later song "Love Science" has a Byrne/Talking Heads art-funk vibe to it.
Great! Musical genius!
This sounds very Hall and Oates. I know Todd has worked with them in production but the voices are close too
The Sound of Philadelphia is what Todd, Daryl and John embodied.
It really does. If you haven’t already, check out Live from Daryl’s House. He did a show with Todd. It was spectacular.
@@tiffanylee7343 Yes did catch it recently! They did “Can we still be friends” - great version
They all the same age also which makes a great connection
@@tiffanylee7343nice! Thanks for the tip! Going to go check it out.
So catchy Time has its moments in life and history in the mix what it does but i love to go back to the greatest decade of all time never to forget miss it so much oh hail the 80s.Todd has some catchy gems this Video Number 8 on MTV August 1981amazing how they did it randomly i miss that u don't get anymore cause we gotten older that suxs
I was there when MTV premiered this video. I always thought that the video, itself, was well-done, and I'm even not a big fan surrealism. The song is completely unique with an interesting, jolting tempo. The only criticism that most of the viewers had at the time is the choreography...or the lack of.
Yeah, he dances kinda goofy...
@@OGBrawlerina I think that kind of adds to its charm!
they were no internet of that time. youre woke up late at 1am listening to mtv
Your memory is off - this song was released over five months before MTV started. However, it was the 8th video MTV played.
8th-ever music video on MTV.
Wow, and I thought I had a good memory! 🤦♀️ Thanks, Jose! 😊
Amazing 🤩
2nd I believe, according to Spotify bio...
Genius pop tune.
8th video played on MTVs first night (...back when they played music)
One of the best concerts I have ever seen.
1981 year i was born , listening to it since my ears got used to that : )
...Much Love Todd ! ....thanx Rhino
Great songs very 80s sounding and with a great positive message. The video was probably the most creative one shown in the first day of mtv. However the chorus still sounds to me like “time is a ruse no one can see”
Great song!!!
Time does heal
Not so much
if you have too retentive a memory
& few to no new, exciting,
stimulating events happening.
His best song!
80s technology was Soo cool.
OMG I remember this song from the 80s! I love how Todd used all of that artwork in the video. Way cool!!
One of Todd's best.
I saw him on a talk show long long ago and he said he was the first one to put music to a video and had predicted that format would take off, which we all know it did. You can see from this video that the music videos have come a long way.
Arguably Michael Nesmith of Monkees fame has the claim of Father of Music Video Genre….
@Elvira Gulch ….No. Beatles & Elvis were in long play movies. Nesmith claim is based on the short video format. Research it & you will see his claim holds
@Elvira Gulch …. No, he started his videography in 1960’s & was with the Monkee’s from 1966-71
@@robertnewell4054 Beatles done promotional tv made videos in summer 65.
@@MIKE-TYTHON …. Google it & you will see that Nesmith has the legal ruling to say otherwise. I posted an outside link but the deleted it. Do your googles & you will that I’m correct
I loved your album ' Mink Of Hollow' and always think this song matches those tunes on a high level
Have not heard this song in over 25 years. Thanks
LOVE THIS!!! XX
*-First, Thanks Rhyno Me Love It And Missing The 80's😊.*
Yes
Shrooms with Todd anyone??? Appreciate the artist and his artistic talent not for the content!!!! Those who have zero talent but ridicule just to get 5 minutes of fame can never appreciate the 40 years of music this guy has shared; a wizard, a true Star ⭐⭐⭐
A genius melodist!
Remember watching the premier .. this vid is burned into my brain ... TR was a visionary then as now
Now he's best
The steam train in the fireplace is "Time Transfixed" By Renee Magritte
I know that name from a Paul Simon song
I bought this cassette out of a “bargain bin” in 82, I played it to death.
I like the Salvador Dali look of the video.
Funky,different and underrated
I remember seeing this video a lot on the early MTV. My first exoposure to the work of both Dali and, I believe, Magritte.
ADOREI ESTA MUSICA
This video was my first exposure to Salvador Dali, 40 years ago.....
DAMN I'M OLD
Such a wonderful lyricist and singer. Also, he's always had the most beautiful hands. My hands turned to shit with age.
Grows on ya
Persistent of memory video
A fire place
Todd - Time heals the wounds, no one can see
Sam Phillips - Time Doesn't Heal, Scars turn into Wounds
i can't believe i found this song of an mtv launch channel back in 1981 before youtube wouldn't ever exist in 1981...
Times heal wounds I agree, but love someone and it’s over these wounds never heals🌹💕😭😇🤟
~ TODD RUNDGREN ~
I remember this video being shown in the early days of MTV. Liked it then and still do today.
Todd does 20th Century European Surrealism.
Wish they would've Remastered the Audio

I see what you did there...😉
I could see this song being in a superhero movie! Spider - Man 4 with Tom Holland maybe?
Not Todd at his heart

Gimme Roadhouse Blues
With Gorgeous Miley Cyrus.
Yummy and Not Obese.
something tells me this isn't the official music video.
It is: I remember it well
It definitely is--and it was directed by Todd himself.
But God sees and God heals.
The background 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
NO IT DOESN'T!!
But there's one thing you must believe...Bad video quality is all they have.
17th
17th biggest tw@t.

LoL
黙って曲だけ聴かせたら絶対にホール&オーツだと思われるだろw
Sing this right after Todd sings "Time heals the wounds" "No , it fuckin don't!" Sing it with me now ! TIME HEALS THE WOUNDS ...NO THE FUCK IT DON'T ! LOL jk
🙄
weird song
This is the most uncomfortable video
I fully understand how for many people this is nostalgia, but come on, this is g a very good song and not a very good video. I mean just using a bunch of poorly projected paintings in the background? Also the song almost has no melody.
You are correct. And it's from my day .. I'm 55
First of all, it's from 1981. If you know anything about Todd, he's always pushing boundaries. That's what he's doing here. I bet you anything he paid for this video himself, and I can assure you, he doesn't care if we like it or not. That's Todd!
If you think theres no melody then you literally dont know anything about music lol the synth in the beginning holds the melody until he starts singing. And then in the chorus the vocals and synth share the melody. Dont talk if you dont know shit
@@dlittle9556 StopFear is thrown off because this song does not use conventional melody. This is grown-up music.
Wow, "the song almost has no melody", "this song does not use conventional melody" - These comments are right up there with that classic line from Amadeus, "Too many notes." Why can't people just say "I like it" or "I don't like it" instead of trying to bluff their way with terminology that they obviously don't understand?
Its not doing it for me.
Kino jo ko jo ko hi hi ko
@@marcinbbgfddk7283 One of the best comments EVER!
He had a few good songs but this song really sucks
It gets better with rage
@Harry Bagina no fuckin way
He has better albums
& there are better songs
than this even on the same album--
"Flesh", "Pulse",
"Golden Goose", "Tiny Demons".
