Hello, To start with, here are the important skills you can learn to succeed in Embedded Systems domain: Software Skills: - Basic C/C++ programming - OS (Operating Systems) - DS (Data Structures) - OOPS (Object Oriented Programming) - Linux OS knowledge - RTOS (Real Time Operating System) - Assembly Language Hardware Knowledge: - Chip designing is not a must but you need to learn how to read a datasheet. - Microcontrollers/Microprocessors: Better to start with famous bringup boards like Raspberry Pi, Atmega or LPC Xpresso. - More advanced platforms like Nvidea Jetson or ibm watson boards can be used in later stages for Machine learning or parallel programming. Age gap doesn't matter as long as you have the right skills and the desire to learn more. Yes you can get into embedded systems after your graduation if you have the required skillset.
