I'm curious to know what you think, guys. Are you a developer or a designer? How much do these features affect your productivity?
I'm both, and these features excite me for my upcoming projects. I think almost all of the features will affect my productivity. Design takes time. With these tools, it'll be easier to not just make really great designs, but to quickly convert them into code for the development process.
Dev. Hate when other devs copying code from figma. I think they should remove this feature, because devs think it produces production code
I'm both. The new auto layout features are exciting; they're now closer to flex-box.
The variables are amazing, but I think they'll see the most use by framework/UI Kit designers that we can just use.
Dev mode is convenient for checking padding values, etc. The code inside figma should still be avoided by devs.
As a developer I think this is great. It is one more step closer to Figma's secret goal of becoming the number one nocode/lowcode design and dev tool in the world. Webflow, watch out.
Man, I hate frontend. This really makes me happy to get rid of the design process quicker xD
What a great time to be a designer and devoloper.
Truly
I see what you did there 😂
😂 until adobe becomes a monopoly on it and randomly starts increasing prices
@@vaisakhkm783 oh well.. we will use cracks by then. ..
its oversaturated now unlucky
How about that? Just days ago I was annoyed that I couldn’t make elements wrap in Figma and now it is a thing. What a time to be alive!
i just searched the exact same thing one week ago i was furious if i was using auto layout i need to make 2 frame for that. Thank god for this update
One thing that i want in the future is for figma to add new units measurements such as VH, VW , Relative
Came here from Coding in Public (Chris). Both of you create very insightful videos, thanks!
Amazing stuff! I just heard about the Figma changes and you've already made a video about it 🔥
Yep, these are huge game-changers! Excited to see how they'll speed up our workflows! ✨️
Thank you so much for giving a recap! You're so fun. We need more people like you. I followed a while back already but I'm showing my friends and colleagues. Thank youuuuu
Love this channel, so nice to see people across of web development and design without being overly skewed to one side :)
I'm thankful about the present!
I decided to pursue a career in Design and Developing starting 2023 and it's being amazing and overwhelming sometimes with all the new technologies and tools. This is going to be awesome.
Thank you, your content is fantastic!
Thanks for the cool overview!
thanks for this video, i love these features so much and i cant wait to use them!!
Great video, I just watched 2 videos of yours and I’m amazed, keep up with this amazing work
Amazing content! This is the second video from your channel that got recommended to me by CZcams and I immediately subscribed! :)
I'm glad you liked them, and hope you enjoy you stay here :)
As a dev, I am really thankful for these changes. Now the designers only have to use these tools properly 😂
I love these videos! keep it up!
also did the magic down here :)
As someone who designs and develops
I was mind-blown by this feature and it's integration with Vs Code
In smaller teams where you're both the designer and the frontend developer, this is pretty useful.
Exactly, especially for creative personal projects.
Super glad they included a SwiftUI conversion feature for dev mode
Hey Juxtopposed, I am a student, learning primarily front end development, but also basics of web design, and you are such a role model for me!
I'm very flattered to hear that, and hope we can all grow together :) ✨️
Love your vids!
These variables are a blessing
Definitely!
Nice, thanks.
That's huge.
Figma..great. But could you please consider a side-gig narrating books on Audible? I could listen to you speak for hours! :)
I guess I should learn figma after all, I think it'll be worth it in the long run.
Yep, I'm astonished how great Figma has become in direct design-to-code tasks.
Unless they’ve significantly improved the code generation, I see these developer features being fairly worthless.
I worked on several projects where I had to translate Figma designs to functional webpages and the generated CSS in the inspect view was always completely wrong. It was usually faster to write it completely from scratch and use the rulers between elements to get the desired margins/padding. I think this is because the markup ends up differing ALOT from how designers end up laying out their components in Figma.
If code generation has not improved I see these variables leading to designers making responsive layouts all in one mockup and it will take developers even more time mucking around the Figma UI to change to the screen layout they need to see rather than just scrolling over to the next mockup.
Ur PFP looks at lot like the End of the Universe Birdbonanza Cover Thumbnail
this is going to make my job a whole lot easier, if our graphic department gets used to this and we (the front end departmend) just writes a script to optimize the provided css code.. Its almost too easy now! (but dont tell my chef)
Becoming the biggest Juxtopposed fan
Apart from design, How do you create these cool videos? What's your process and how do you edit your videos, & what Software do you use?
Really glad i got recommended her content on this over polluted platform
It’s a very great update, but the more I use dev mode, the more I see new features that should be in both. Why would developers be the ones to get asset thumbnails in the Explorer? That’s a huge quality of life feature.
You're right. It seems like that could be implemented in both modes. I think they mainly did it because developers are often the ones to ask for the assets from the designers, while designers usually "own" the assets.
game changer for designers for sure, i myself am a dev/designer and this for me is a huge upgrade. adobe xd better make something
I just love your voice
It's interesting that they locked the advanced prototyping behind a paywall. Make me curious whether they were inspired by uxpin.
This is a very unrelated question, but how did u make your logo and channel art? looks really cool lol
Thanks! I used a software called Aseprite for it. Will make a video about pixel art soon :)

U deserve more followers
pros:
- cool features
cons:
- giving money to adobe
It's not a con if you giving money to Adobe for years already
adobe don't own figma yet
Now where even Sketch killed pay once for $99 forever deal, i feel pissed. No competition to this stupid subscriptions.
@@PalmDevsnot yet. the acquisition is still being vetted for approval in the EU and I think in the US
As a developer, this is great! Only if I knew how to use these
Figmapocalypse!
God this is so good
These new features are great! The only problem is that they are all paid, including just css props in dev mode
Awesome
more things idk about figma
Everyday we learn something new! ✨
With this addition of variables, Figma is officially Turing complete.
Awesome features! Took them long enough. Its like the game, Skyrim. Simple mods can make the game better 300% but the game devs were too lazy to implement or took them 3 years to implement it. I quite dislike it when lots of new features released or major revamp occurs because it seems I have relearn the tool.
Agreed. For example, one feature they took a long time to add is previewing fonts on the font dropdown. Seemed simple, but took like forever.
So it now has most of the features of UXPin?
It's this a figma alternative or a plugin ?
@@fire17102 Its an alternative but with more UX focused features as far as I know.
Figma balls
this is a game changer🔥
now bring vscode inside figma
Figma caught the ligma
More like Figma cured ligma
This + copilot = 🔥
Watching your videos makes me realize how powerful Figma is, but also how poorly the designer that worked for us uses it...
Figma is easy to learn and hard to master. Hopefully these new features will speed up the process.
deva loapers?
Figma's CSS is useless because of absolute values.
The only thing Figma is missing now is hosting. Once you have that you don't need developers 🤣
Are you girlfriend of fireship ?)
i swear lmao
clickbait
I think flutter is a lot more interesting than this tbh
stealing dev-el-opement
