- कुछ दिनों पहले रामेश्वर जी से मुलाकात हुई थी। इसकी खबर मिलते ही कुछ कुली भाइयों ने मुझे उनसे मिलने का अनुरोध किया। और जैसे ही मुझे मौका मिला, मैं दिल्ली के आनंद विहार टर्मिनल पहुंच गया। उनसे मिल कर काफ़ी बातें हुईं - उनकी ज़िंदगियों को करीब से जाना और उनके संघर्षों को समझा।
कुली भारत के सबसे मेहनती लोगों में हैं। पीढ़ी दर पीढ़ी, करोड़ों यात्रियों के सफ़र में सहायक बन कर ये अपनी ज़िंदगी बिता देते हैं। कितनों की बांह पर लगा वो बिल्ला सिर्फ़ पहचान ही नहीं, उनको मिली विरासत भी है। ज़िम्मेदारी तो हिस्से में आ जाती है, मगर तरक्की न के बराबर।
आज भारत में लाखों शिक्षित युवा रेलवे स्टेशन पर कुली का काम कर अपनी रोज़ी रोटी कमाने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। कारण? रिकॉर्ड बेरोज़गारी। देश का साक्षर नागरिक दो वक़्त की रोटी कमाने को संघर्ष कर रहा है।
प्रतिदिन ₹400-500 की मामूली जीविका कमाते हैं, जिसमें घर का खर्च भी पूरा नहीं पड़ता, बचत का तो सवाल ही नहीं। कारण? कमरतोड़ महंगाई। खाना महंगा, रहना महंगा, शिक्षा महंगी, स्वास्थ्य महंगा - गुज़ारा हो भी तो कैसे!
वे भारतीय रेलवे से वेतन पाने वाले कर्मचारी नहीं हैं।
न पगार है, न पेंशन!
किसी चिकित्सा बीमा या बुनियादी सुविधाओं का भी लाभ नहीं - भारत का भार उठाने वालों के कंधे आज मजबूरियों से झुके हुए हैं।
मगर, फिर भी उनकी उम्मीदें करोड़ों और हिंदुस्तानियों की तरह ही इस बात पर कायम हैं कि - समय बदलेगा!

I am writing to commend you on your recent meeting with the porters at Anand vihar railway station. It was heartwarming to see you take the time to listen to their stories and to learn about the challenges they face.
I was particularly struck by the story of the electric engineer who is now working as a porter. This is a clear example of the lack of proper guidance that many young people in India face.
I believe that it is essential to develop good professional career counseling teams to help young people make informed decisions about their future. These teams should not only counsel students, but they should also spread awareness of the benefits of career counseling. Please emphasize this issue in MP elections.
