About Kevin Zhen: Exeter '16, Yale '20 (East Asian Studies)

He also loves teaching creative nonfiction, flash fiction and poetry. In total, his students have won more than 75+ Scholastic Writing awards.
About Jeffrey Yu: Yale '23 (Computer Science and East Asian Studies)
Jeff is a senior at Yale double majoring in Computer Science and East Asian Studies with a concentration on China. His college admissions essay was featured in the New York Times, and he specializes in essay writing, college admissions strategy, and life coaching. He has served as a Student Ambassador to the Yale Admissions Office, written extensively about college admissions on Quora and has taught courses on motivation, passion, and leadership while sponsored by the US Embassy in Tokyo.

It is my dream college
My grandson is studying now in an elite boarding school in the UK and he's no 1 in Physics and ancient Greek. He wants to study at either Oxford or Harvard. But secretly I dream for him to be able to study at MIT.

Sure where you're born always dictates part of the exposure you'll get. But still MIT collects quite a lot of brilliant minds from different corners of the world. You just don't know about it lol. Also it's need blind so anyone who gets in will attend whether they have parents to support or not. So you're quite wrong there

When they mean balance, do they want same skill levels across all the activities you do or one or two exceptional skill level for activities related to your major and mid for other activities?
I think still have as many exceptional activities as you can academically (internships, passion projects, etc.) but have a “work/life” balance. Have personal passions and dont sacrifice your life for school. Have hobbies, activities, sports, even academic stuff that you find fun and put it on your application to really show yourself (character + smarts)
I think it's about not being an academic rat that doesn't have a life other than that
