@@valiang8867I haven't seen the movie, but from what I can remember reading about it, I think even the chemical reactions or whatever it is that makes fire burn are failing.
Like, even combustion isn't as efficient now. Fires are harder to light, fuel is harder to burn, they go out sooner, etc.

This is what is a perfect example of a non ending, sets up a bunch of things including the word Croaton and it goes nowhere, at some point they didn't know how to continue the narrative and gave up, great concept and execution, but soured by the ending or lack thereof.

Petrol in cars + flames = plenty of fucking light. If they were so desperate to survive, they would have torched the city. It's like a zombie film I watched where people were in a huge abandoned house, with vast wooden stairs and loads of wooden furniture, yet they risked their lives to go to the woodshed for firewood! Why do people write these films so badly?

That bothered me alot too. Seems like cars and normal batteries have power for a few minutes but the solar powered toy flashlight for kids lasts the entire night.

The shadows can turn lights on and off, so I assume it means they can drain power.

I love how the directors put absolutely 0 effort into telling us why it happened or how it happened. The only things we were given is word similar to Croatia, people join the dark side after they vanish, batteries run out in a few minutes and 2 kids and a horse survived.
Why did the things happen? Idk.
What are those shadows? Idk.
What happened to the ppl? Idk.
Was it world wide like "the darkest hour" movie? Idk.
How to beat em? Idk.
What did humans do wrong here to deserve that? Idk.
Soo many questions, absolutely no answers.
Also, how the hell did car batteries that run for weeks or months go out in like 5 mins but a solar powered torch survive when the days are getting shorter? It's gotta be like 2 hours daytime 22 hours night time now cause I don't think I saw day time in the recap other than at the start and the time he opened the curtains to survive.

It's not complicated but it is not simple to say. The movie has left many hints which of course you need to watch in order to gather the pieces of information. If you don't watch the movie then you wont have the pieces and thus nothing will make sense and only questions will remain.

Croatoan is a real thing in history. The disappearing settlement with the word "Croatoan" carved on a tree is 100% real history and has nothing to do with Croatia.
Love the premise, was quite compelling. Definitely needed a better ending.

This applies to any show with some supernatural elements. It doesn't need to be explained for the story to be satisfying. If it's explained, cool. If not explained, also cool.

1 the light of a small flashlight is enough like in this movie
2 the one is a non electric light source and the other uses electricity
3 the cars batteries are dead like all the electronics in the movie the shadow can manipulate electric devices and can blow candles

dont worry absolutely nothing makes real life sense in this movie haha if daytime was only 2 hours the Earth climate would start changing they would freeze to death before the ghosts even catch them 😂 no light means the sun isnt hitting Earth and that can only happen if the shadows fully blocked out the sunlight somehow and also its heat which again impossible or they somehow moved Earth away from the sun but yeah nothing makes any logical sense

Even the big leagues of films are making garbage these days, it's saddening to see such low lows after such high highs. This movie was a prime example of a potentially good movie ruined by poor writing, plotholes galore, and a dry ending.

I watched this on cable TV late at night. I think it was on the Sci-Fi channel, playing when old horror like Sci-Fi movies play. Like The Cube. I occasionally thought about this movie, and found it again after remembering Hayden was in it
that is so creepy and i love it! the only thing i hate is that scene of a person calling out for help on the operating table. just hearing the review and seeing a small clip of the scene messed me up... i don't know if i could watch it. it's horrifying and heartbreaking... just disturbing on so many levels.

It’s interesting how the only things that still had power were an old truck and an old generator, both of which are carbureted and don’t use any electronics to run. There must have been a massive solar flare or an EMP.
The storyline is also similar to the rapture where it’s said people will simply disappear and the days become shorter.

The "Lost colony on Roanoke island" isn't really a mystery. The colonists suffered hardships and abandoned the colony and joined a local Native American tribe. Future settlers many years later reported seeing some native americans with blonde hair and blue eyes that were part of a nearby tribe.
