  • The Hydro Series H100i GTX is an extreme performance, all-in-one liquid CPU cooler for cases with 240mm radiator mounts. The 240mm radiator and dual SP120L PWM fans provide the excellent heat dissipation you need for highly overclocked CPUs. Corsair Link is built in, so you can monitor temperatures, adjust cooling performance and customize LED lighting directly from your desktop.

    I've owned this cooler for about 3 months now, so I figured I would leave my review here. With some Q/A too.
    Despite the relatively high pricing, this cooler works quite well for what it is (a 240mm AIO cooler with LED effects and sexy tubing). The cooler beats out every other 240mm AIO on the market at nearly every clock on every CPU, which is saying something. That doesn't mean it gets off scot-free though. Since the pricing eclipses and exceeds some 280mm options on the market, it wouldn't be fair to count them out either.
    For most reviewers, it appears that this cooler is BETTER than 280mm offerings, and it is, to a point. I compared this cooler on my test bench to my Kraken x61 using two different CPUs on two different motherboards. Most reviewers don't clock their CPU's that high when they test AIOs, a flaw in my opinion, because at stock clocks, this cooler will cool better than any cooler on the market, even the H110i GT in some setups. I will detail why this cooler is the best 240mm AIO, but overpriced for what it is (though I don't know Corsair's BoM for this cooler, so it might actually cost a massive amount to make, I can't know)
    Test setup: Lian-Li Pit Stop Test Bench
    Asus Crosshair V Formula Z+ AM3+
    Asus Maximus VII Formula Z97
    AMD FX-9590
    Intel Core i7-4770k
    16GB Kingston HyperX Fury 1866 MHz Red Edition (DDR3 of course)
    1TB Samsung 850 Pro
    For the best example of out of the box performance, I used the SP120Ls that came with the H100i GTX, and the fans that came with the NZXT Kraken x61. I usually use Noctua NF-F12 iPPC Industrial 3000's on the H100i GTX, and the F14's on the Kraken X61. Both of these coolers were tested using their highest performance setups. With the GTX in pump performance mode, and fan performance mode in Corsair Link. The NZXT Kraken is in Extreme Tweaker mode with max fan speeds and pump speed.
    4770k 3.5 GHz: Kraken 37 C, H100i GTX 35 C
    9590 4.7 GHz: Kraken 44 C, H100i GTX 43 C
    4770k 3.9 GHz: (sustained boost): Kraken 39 C, H100i GTX 37 C
    9590 4.9 GHz: (mild OC): Kraken 46 C, H100i GTX 46 C
    4770k 4.3 GHz (decent OC): Kraken 45 C, H100i GTX 45 C
    9590 5.1 GHz (heavy OC): Kraken 59 C, H100i GTX 64 C
    4770k 4.9 GHz (max clock): Kraken 61 C, H100i GTX 78 C
    9590 5.4 GHz (max clock): Kraken 65 C, H100i GTX (reached TJMax, failure)
    So, as you can see, the H100i GTX cannot compete with most 280mm coolers at really high OC's, or power hungry chips like an i7-E, or 9590. I sadly didn't have an i7-E to test, but the results would have been similar to the 9590. Also, the H100i GTX just simply needs new fans... the SP120Ls have a much higher static pressure than the SP120 Performance Editions, but they do so at an ear splitting noise level, make no mistake, these fans when they are working hard are the loudest things in the world, beating out my R9 290x Lightning at 70% fan speed for noise.

      @rikkiboodram2911 Před 9 lety +1

      +speedevil22 Great test results. Normally on corsair coolers I switch the fans to Static pressure LED versions. Longer cables and flexible cable management. I also wish corsair made 4 Pin LED and Non LED fans vs the standard 3 pin. I will get this cooler soon tho to match my case branding. I don't overclock because the CPU performs well enough for me but if I choose to overclock, atleast I will have this H100i on standby. I would like to suggest adding the 4790K to your test bench ;)

    • @speedevil22
      @speedevil22 Před 9 lety

      +Rikki Boodram Yes, I too wish they made PWM LED edition SP fans. That's something I've emailed them about and they came back with the "Great idea, we've passed this on to the team". And yes, I need to acquire a 4790k because the TIM between the chip itself and the heat spreader is so much more consistent. It's also clocked higher at stock. Only gripe I have with this cooler outside of price is:
      1. Corsair Link can be a pain in the ass sometimes, especially on Windows 7, it sometimes forgets my fan presets and the fans reach max speed in "quiet mode". I fixed this by creating my own custom fan curve in the software.
      2. The tubes going straight into the waterblock looks great, but combined with how tough these tubes are, it can make it difficult to install without a second person if you aren't experienced.
      Thanks for the feedback, and for the record, this is the AIO I use in my own personal rig. So it met and exceeded my expectations, even at the high price.

      speedevil22 Asus Z97-AR. I sort of figured it out. Went into the advanced mode and into monitor, let the motherboard check the fan speeds highs and lows, doing that allowed it to communicate with the cpu corsair cooler now. On one start up I had to do it a second time though.

    • @speedevil22
      @speedevil22 Před 9 lety +1

      Hmmm. This sure seems to be a common problem on Asus boards. I wanted to use Corsair Link instead of my fan controller, so I plugged all that in and installed the software, but my Maximus VII Hero keeps freaking out on start-up saying there's no CPU fan. I don't know why it thinks that because the power is connected to the CPU fan header. Thanks for the tip, though.

    • @flailmanx3
      @flailmanx3 Před 9 lety +2

      Hey, I figured it out. The problem lies with the overall fan mode. I was getting the error myself until I tried something a little different. See, the H100i GTX is a PWM pump. Just go into the ASUS motherboard settings and change the cpu fan from whatever it is by default to PWM. It completely solved the issue

      I watched your video, but what you're complaining about isn't a real problem, because after you install the cpu cooling block, the cpu cooling block tightens the back plate and the standoffs. So, I think you are creating a flood from a drop of water.

    • @corsair
      @corsair  Před 9 lety +83

    How do you properly install this? I see some people put the fans (down) and then the radiator(up), like in this video, and in other builds they put the radiator(down) and then the fans (up)

    I just downloaded the H100i GTX Quick Start Guide and it says the following: "For the best cooling performance, we recommend mounting the fans as an air-intake to your PC case."
    So, this guy is a Corsair representative and goes against their recommendation. That's curious. It makes sense to me that you'd rather intake cooler room air than warmer case air. The only possible downside I see is that your through-case airflow may be disrupted by this arrangement. Does anyone have thoughts on this?

    Hello corsair!!! I have a question for you: The h100i gtx is powered by sata right? Hitechlegion showed that you should not plug the pump in the cpu fan, but rather into a 3pin to molex/sata for constant 12v. Is it true or is the cpu fan good enough?

    • @metalrulezU
      @metalrulezU Před 8 lety +1

      +Xetion surely thats not good, you're fans would be running at max RPM constantly comsuming as much power as they could, the reason for the CPU header is because its PWM controlled meaning the AIO will be controlled depending on the heat output of the CPU

    I would like to point out that I'm greatly dissatisfied from this product. Because before buying didn't know that corsair link doesn't consider the cpu temp readings as the factor of its custom curve, in contrast you can only make a custom cooling curve from the cooler temp that doesn't flanctuate more than 3-4degrees. Even if you want to make this work, you can't use decimals. My oppinion is that this may cause issues in the future, because you get the about the same cooler temp readings even if your cpu is 70c which is acceptable or 85+ which is nearly warning.
