    Nice video! Greetings from Albuquerque. After a week in Flagstaff for GeoWoodstock over Memorial Day. We did a Sunset Crater-Wupatki-Grand Canyon loop. The last time we were in the area in April 2022 the Tunnel Fire was raging and the highway closed. So we had to come back. The ruins are great!

    As a professional trumpet player, I have a theory about the blow hole. They say the Puebloans built the town there because of the blow hole being held in religious reverence. I think it was more likely a natural spring that went dry after tectonic movement shut off the water , which was very important to surviving the arid conditions.

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  Před 2 měsíci

      Apparently the area is known for its blowholes. Maybe they just enjoyed the cool air. 😄

    • @stanw909

      @@FromShetoMe I thought if I was the Chief I'd have a summer home built on the spot, 🤣. That being said,the abandonment of all the Cliff Dwelling, The Mississippian Mound Builders, the Vikings leaving Greenland and huge crop failures in Europe, all of which happened coincidentally at the end of the Medieval Warm Period. So this could also explain blow holes that may have been springs before a lowered water table. I may just be a blow hole but it seems incurious of the National Parks Service to not take a look at alternative reasons to build a town on a certain site. Stare off into the desert out there and tell me where the water is , because when I was there , I didn't see any. Dang ! I sure did some major palabering. Thanks for all your videos. Always look forward to your adventures.

      @@stanw909 Excellent points. While I was doing my research, I was struck by the lack of information regarding the earth cracks which led me down the blowhole rabbit hole as well. I imagine that some of the challenges they have in doing research may be related to tribal issues. But I really don't know. Would be interesting to do one of the tours they do outside of the public areas.

      @@FromShetoMe We went to Chaco Canyon a couple years back and they also mentioned the Aztec's influence on the Cliff Dwelling/Puebloan societies. Well, you know how Google follows your every move for marketing purposes? I got home and my CZcams account recommended a documentary on ritual cannibalism in the Chacoan and Mesa Verde area. They are very interesting and very compelling in their conclusions. There were many skulls found in burial mounds that showed sharpened teeth,a common trait of Aztec nobles and priests. The explanation by the National Parks Service was to not allow it to be shown for cultural sensitivity to the Hopi and Zunni tribes who do not now or ever have practiced ritual cannibalism. That is just ridiculous on its face , but that is what the people who are tasked with interpreting the past have become. After all, the documentarians are attributing this to visiting Aztec's and not the Puebloan culture at large. It's been a few years but I didn't see any comments expressing anger by Aztecs. Kind of funny but my wife's family jokes that they are the " Los decendencia de los Aztecas " . I have to point out that their name Cambron is more closely related to the Belgium/French and Napoleon II installed Emperor Maximilian (brother to Emperor Frans Joseph of the Hapsburg dynasty of Austria). I call them French usurpers. They don't like my joke. Here I go again. Sorry
