- What a perfect time to be visiting Texas. The wildflowers are at their peak during our visit to South Llano River State Park, Balmorhea State Park, and Lyndon B Johnson State Park.

John, I needed that! “Some times I’m the smartest person I know……”. That is a keeper!
Our younger grandson said the funniest thing when we were in Texas. He said, "Poppy is so good, but he's so lost."
@@FromShetoMe that is funny. I identify with that comment but more on the lost part. We travel a little in our Winnebago View and plan to do more when we retire. It would be great to meet you all in person. Since we are in the southeast, Bristol, TN, I keep thinking we might run into Lynn and Owen somewhere. We recently camped next to Fridays Forever. Thanks for your wonderful videos. They are so enjoyable in so many ways.
@@timmartin4952 Thanks! I wish there were an app to help with coordinating meetups on the road.
I love your comment, "both a blessing and a curse you can contemplate on your journey " through the permian basin. Tactfull! When we drove through it I couldn't believe how ugly the area is - what we have done to Mother Earth. I can't wait to see the eclipse footage!.😊
Well go to a town with a big open pit mine -that’s ugly and that is what will happen to get your lithium batteries 🤷♀️
I really enjoy your videos. We are camping this week in SC at Hester's Bottoms, on Strom Thurman Lake. It is a beautiful place.
We saw the eclipse in Indiana, and parked in a little church parking lot. The ladies of the church fixed lunch for all us visiting. They were raising money for roof repairs on their church! Great idea! 💡
The eclipse was magical. It was our second time viewing totality and we are still in awe of the greatness and majestic sights. I'm having withdrawals.....😅
We just got home so I know what you mean. Can't wait to get out there again.
Thank you so much for sharing the beautiful flowers and things of Texas. At the end of June I'm retiring from driving a school bus for 35 year. We live in Missouri and look forward to do more traveling.
Wow, what a tough job that would be, but good on you!
The flowers are amazing. Loved hearing about your trip. Safe travels.
We do French toast on our gas stove in a fry pan - works fine. Topped with lemon curd and fresh(ish) raspberries.
I've not tried it with Lemon Curd and raspberries. Sounds yummy.
Next time drive the road from Balmorhea to Fort Davis-beautiful drive!
Fort Davis is a really neat small town with much to see including an amazing observatory, an historic fort , a beautiful statr park and cute shops and opd homes.
We did Fort Davis in 2019. Loved it and what a great State Park.
It’s too bad John can’t get the industrial-sized whip cream cans. What a great trip! LBJ signed the creation of Pacific Crest Trail.
I did not know that!
Fun video. We were in Hill Country a week ago, highlights were Luckenbach and the Greune Dance Hall.
Beautiful time of year! Video is wonderful, enjoyed every minute.
Spanish pronunciation double Ls are silent.
Bernalillo is berna-leo.
Llano is yano
Yes, I was thinking my Spanish classes (from 50 years ago) taught me double-l's was more of a "y" sound.
That's correct except when you're talking about Llano TX. It's pronounced with the "L" sound and is simply "lan-oh". At least as a 72 year native of TX that's all I've ever heard. Been there many times. Now if you're talking about the area around Lubbock, the Llano Estacado (staked plains) it is indeed pronounced "yah-no"
@@billrobinson2581 just curious, does lan-oh rhyme with John-o or Dan-o?
@@willar7179 It rhymes with Dan-O. Texas is dotted with mispronounced town names. A couple favorites are Refugio which is pronounced sort of like re-fuhr-io. And Bogata which is pronounced Buh-GO-tuh.
I must say that this video definitely has a better balance of music volume compared to your voiceover. Much less frustrating for this viewer so thank you very much Debbie! Say hello to John.
I visited Llano State Park about three weeks ago and things were already spectacular at that time. It’s funny. I sat on the same quirky little bench and watched all the birds in the bird blind love the park🌷🌸
It was definitely a high light of our trip.
Big black trailer containers likely classic car transport (one of many uses I have seen.)
Very enjoyable video. Thank you for sharing.
What joy those beautiful wild flowers.
Think I missed this video. Thanks for the adventure and hope all is well.
Let's make sure our paths cross this summer.
@@FromShetoMe I will send you my itinerary for the summer/fall and will see if we can cross paths.
We stayed at Monahan Sandhills and Leasburg Dam on our way to the eclipse. Too much traffic in El Paso kept us from Balmorhea. Thanks for showing what we missed.
We'll have to return, but when the weather is better and there are other people in the pool. And maybe I'll have to wear a wet suit to keep the fish from nibbling. 😅
The rains in January made this an especially enjoyable wildflower season. The Bluebell Creamery is in Brenham and worth a visit.
I wanted to visit but it was a bit too far for the grand kids. Next time.
When we visited LBJ ranch his last SS agent was there, he was showing some friends around. He finally introduced himself to the rest of us and told some behind the scenes stories.
That's so cool!
Thanks for your enjoyable video. Great editing, Debbie! It took me twice the time to watch it due to veerry slow internet here in the Southern French boonies.
Très bon!
I watched George this morning and saw a quick glimpse of your van. He mentioned that your's and the 2 others would be out by the end of June. My favorite pastime.....bird watching, need to go there to Llano. The LBJ park was really cool, need to go there too. You were gutsy getting into that pool, I just can't take cold water and have a hard time just getting into our Pacific Ocean. Oh, found a tick in the van early this week, yikes, hope it was the only one. Enjoy today wherever you are, thanks for sharing.
Don't hold your breath for the end of June. But as George says, it will be beautiful.
The only time we've ever found a tick in the van was in Washington State. They seem to be particularly bad there.
Very cool to see these Texas State Parks - they are all so diverse! We are really enjoying them this trip through Texas. We did buy the pass this year - I think it’s working out well (we are at a state park now). Wait, there’s an ice cream app? 🤣
No app, just a list of ice cream places submitted by viewers. I think the link is from 2 or 3 videos ago.
The LBJ White House in Stonewall is a fantastic place to visit, but it won’t be open again until 2025. The interior contents of the home have been frozen in time somewhere in the early 1960’s. When we visited there years ago we went into Lyndon’s private bedroom and saw 3 black & white 9” TVs sitting on his dresser which he used to watch news on CBS, ABC, and NBC. In the kitchen we saw an Amana Radar Range, one of the very first home microwave ovens. A real trip back in time …..

Room enough to do what we will🎶🎶 Hello John & Debbie 👋 I'm a new subscriber to your channel & I luv it! I luv how all your episodes seem like mini documentaries. Debbie you are a wonderful storyteller & it shows all the research you've put into each episode, awesome! 👐 I also luv the music 🎶 very nice. I think John should be sponsored by Cool Whip Cream 🍨 luv his humor😂 Texas is so vast, that the lyrics of Carol King popped into my head 🤯 Safe travels & thank you for sharing this trip with us,Yvonne 🥰
Thank you!
You're welcome! 🥰
Great video thank you! Those muffins did look delicious!
I bought 3 more packages before we got home. I need to try them out as pancakes.
Thank you for fun snd informative videos. Really enjoy them. Beautiful flowers.
I was surprised that you don’t have Northern Cardinals in California. It’s the state bird here in Ohio (and several other states). We’ll sometimes see a dozen or more at desserts over the winter, and always have e them nest in the rhododendron in our front yard.
I knew there were several Oliver trailers in Texas for the eclipse, but was surprised to see two in your video. For so few having been made (1500 in 17 years) we see them in a lot of videos! We need to get “Curiosity” out west!
We've been seeing more and more Olivers. I didn't realize how few are out there.
Would have loved to have seen the armadillo. Very exotic to those of us in the UK.
It was too fast and scurried away.
I believe the truck trailer is for cars
Very good. ❤
Enjoyable as always! Thanks and safe travels
I always enjoy your video’s
I LOVE living in California, but I sure do miss those Cardinals!
Your comment got me wondering why we don't have them out here. Apparently, some have been introduced but rarely seen: rarebirds.westernfieldornithologists.org/Northern_Cardinal/Northern_Cardinal.html#:~:text=The%20Northern%20Cardinal's%20cardinalis%20group,west%20to%20extreme%20southeastern%20California.
@@FromShetoMe
Fascinating! I feel sorry for that poor little guy seen at the Vidal Junction … that does not seem like an appropriate environment for a Cardinal at all. 😬
Hope to see you about Silver City NM!
You will, after my eclipse video!
👍TY! 💜 ☮ Be safe.
The black trailers usually, but not always, haul luxury cars.
Thanks. That makes sense.
The Suspense is killing me! Did the Sun eclipse? Anyway enjoyed today’s stops. Saw our first live armadillos at Llano River SP a couple of years ago and the LBJ sites are definitely worthwhile. Complex Man
Yes, we saw the eclipse and that will be next video.
@@FromShetoMe Two more weeks😉
LBJ library is a treat and a history lesson.
Indeed. I learned so much.
❤
Llano is a short “a”. #1.
It is number three. Lawn-o.
A gelato that size would cost 1 Euro (about $1.25) in a mountaintop village where we visit our friends in southern Italy. I can’t believe what gelato costs here! Of course we can’t afford to go to Italy vey often for cheaper gelato, no matter how good it is.
It seemed exorbitant to me but I think the reason is because it was made with Buffalo milk.
@@FromShetoMe yes, and Buffalo is notoriously difficult to milk!
My daughter lives in Austin-been that route many times-I would rather look at the oil fields and natural gas any time then a big ugly open pit mine mining for lithium to make batteries -I grew up in Butte Montana where this is a huge open pit copper mine -it is ugly and has caused a lot of pollution-it is shut down now for the most part but that big ugly open pit will remain forever-Just saying 🤷♀️🚌🇺🇸
Yep, there are no easy answers. Fossil fuels built modern society, are irreplaceable, and haven't been valued appropriately. Most people haven't a clue.
big black truck is a covered car carrier
Must be some fancy cars in there.
Big black boxes, maybe auto hauler???
That seems to be the consensus. Fancy cars.
3 ;-)
How many cans of whip cream does John go through in a week?😂
Only on the road. I think he prefers whipped cream to ice cream.
When are you getting your custom Van?
On George's video this morning, he suggested late June. But I'm not holding my breath. However, we will be heading east in June so that we can be there whenever we get the call. I know that he has been finishing up two other vans and we are next in line.
Not “Lane-o” ……. “Lannno”
I think it’s Lano rhyming with piano
Translation: llano = flat, treeless plain.
This is too funny because viewers have now chosen all of them.
Llano is pronounced Yano in Espanol
Yes, but Texans don't pronounce it that way.
@@FromShetoMe I know. Like Amarillo instead of Amario. We're currently at Tuttle Creek. Awesome !
@@stanw909Lucky you to be in the eastern Sierra in the spring!
