(April 2024) Alot of these Gen 2 elevators in Europe don't run as well as their American counterparts but this one was very nice. It is from 2012

Nothing is perfect about Gen2 when it comes to durability and build quality, but when it comes to design the European one is the best of all. It looks like a real futuristic elevator.

This elevator must be fairly new for European standards. All the buildings in Europe are at least over a hundred years old. A lot of buildings in Europe still have those vintage elevators that where you open a door and then slide open with a gate.

0:55 one of two TKE elevators in a new building on my college campus makes this exact noise when going down. Only the one on the left does it though, not the one on the right. Sounds to me like a cable rubbing against something, but I’m not an expert.
They’re 5 story TKE traction elevators, with basic vandal resistant fixtures.
