➤Cities Skylines Industries:
In one of the most in-depth expansions in Cities: Skylines history, Industry becomes a larger and more meaningful part of the game with this expansion. Players can customize their industrial areas with supply chains for the four different resource types and unique factories. Well managed industry areas will level up and become more efficient. Aside from production chains, there is a new city service for handling mail and the cargo airport eases import and export of factory goods. There are FIVE new maps, new policies, new city services, new buildings (including resource extractors, manufacturers, warehouses and unique factories) and more.
Key Features:
- MAKE IT HAPPEN
Follow your products from harvesting to processing, storage and production, then transport them to commercial zones or export to other cities.
- CAPTAIN YOUR OWN INDUSTRIES
Define an area with the industry area tool and place highly specialized industrial buildings to build and manage the production chain from raw material extraction up to final end product. Industry Areas are divided into four types based on the natural resource they are processing: Farming, Forest, Ore and Oil. These areas can level up upon reaching productions goals and staffing requirements.
- BUILD IT UP, BUTTERCUP
New industrial buildings include Extractors, Warehouse Facilities, Processing and Auxiliary Buildings, Industrial Props and Roads. Unique Factories, such as Food, Toy, Furniture, Car and Electronics produce luxury products, and require a large number of workers, water and electricity as well as input from your industries.
- GO POSTAL
Boost your citizens’ well-being with mail delivery and collection services. Post sorting facilities handle mail between outside connections and the post offices, and new Post Van and Truck vehicles enable the carriage.
- WONK HARD

VERMONT CITY BREAKING NEWS: One of our resident citizens was vanished into thin air along with his car, today in bright daylight. One Mr.Earl Walker, who is a specialist at the famous Beacon Hotel is the victim. His co-workers said he was going back home after the shift. A family who was driving behind him and has witnessed the incident from their RV says it was shocking and they have never seen anything like that before. They also stated they felt some road decals changed, right after the incident. The incident happened at the local time 10:08.
In other news, the mega traffic jam which was troubling the city was miraculously solved today. We are yet to confirm if there is any connection between that and Mr.Earl Walker's disappearance.
"The street behind my house just disappeared! And nobody wants to talk about it!"
Lol love it. RIP Mr Walker
"City repairs potholes but leaves rocks in the road"
I miss those simcity news papers
Perfect 😂👌
Just a thought for a city fix this size - do a part 1 and part 2 video. That way you get double the content with the almost the same output of work, but it can give you the chance to really spend part 1 on traffic and part 2 on public transportation for example. I'm sure the railroad fix on this is 10 min of content by itself. For small cities I totally see all in one, but 200K? I think people would be happy to see two videos that give some more in depth. Plus that way you are not rushing at the end showing your mass transit fixes in 2 minutes when you put 2 hours of work in it.
Yes! I would have love to see Biffa overdo the metro.
I was looking forward to the mass transit fix... then it ended
I also agree, 2 videos for big cities would be good, I also understand why Biffa does 1 video as editing can become a nightmare on things like this. Having self contained videos helps viewer interest as well. The internet is full of people that have way to much stuff to do to watch a 2nd video (although I would and it sounds like you would as well).
I have a saved city that has hit over 980,000 population. He could do a ten part series on that :D
But the traffic is usually in the upper 70%. I feel pretty good about that!
Yeah, when a city is this large there is so much that can be fixed. Please consider making big cities like these a 2 - part video. 1 part with your regular roundabout and lane management fixes and another with public transport / general layout fixes.
Biffa got me started drinking tea btw :-D
i dont even own this game, yet i watched so many of these vids, that my knowledge on traffic management is absurd.
Now when walking down the street tiny biffa voice in our heads suggests how to fix the traffic jam in front of us. Please don't yell: "we need a teabout!" Not every one will understand (they should)
Same.
Fix the traffic in my heart, Biffa
Hes not a surgeon. I dont think roundabouts work in there either.
There is none.. OOOOOHHHHHHHHHH DaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!
Me: redo that interchange. Come on Biffa, delete it all. Do it. Do it. Do it.
Biffa: Lane fix. Lane fix. Aaaaand, Roundabout.
😋
I think the purpose is to not change the city too much
DEW IT
I wish you showed us the trains clearing up
Sometimes, I just wish we can do this in REAL LIFE!!!!!! Just imagine... Juuuust imagine ....
Yes, "Let me just pause, and delete this car." would be great :p
@@michaeldamolsen I assume Mr. Walker would disagree :)
@@_araminta_ Haha! Deep question: where do people go when they despawn? They apparently arrive straight at their intended location immediately. Trucks on the other hand will respawn at their origin and attempt the journey again. Is it more moral to delete cars than trucks then? :)
I only mean changing roads and adding lanes XD but you guys are really funny lol
in real life people wont follow rules...no lane switching? people will keep switch lane..thats what make traffic worst :3
6:30 adding lanes is pointless because people going straight will just use the highway.
Don't forget that he could just downgrading four-lane to two-lane and downgrading six-lane after that to four-lane, which will made two-lane roundabout viable
Not pointless it is a vanilla way to get 2 turning lanes
Born1Drifter didn’t need two turning lanes... and definitely didn’t need the straight on lane
Biffa sometimes misses that kind of thing. He has a lot going on making these videos and drinking that tea.
Could have just build a trumpet interchange aswell. Then there would be no traffic "criss crossing" over each other
Not sure who this "Hugo" fellow is.... He seems to show up only when you are drawing traffic manager lines..."Hugo there....Hugo here.." Don't see him myself tho...strange. ;)
Edit: Damn it....just got to the point in the video where @Biffa uses the Hugo joke. Spent my joke too early.
:P
I've come to just call the lane connectors Hugos.
@@Anvilshock I like your idea...where do I join?
Anvilshock - so that explains why Hugo‘s Italian kitchen was so busy, it was a lane connector
I got to leave work at 2:15pm today, and when I get home, Biffa's uploaded a new video.... Today was a good day.
Lol :-)
That lane connector you used at 5:20 actually messed up things rather badly. The node right thereafter is where you'v forbidden lane changes and the node right after that is where cars would turn off to that industrial sector.... So now the only cars allowed to directly go into that industrial are the ones from the district nearby, all others got to take a HUGE detour....
Biffa 2020: *REVERSE* Lanes Mathematics
I don't know who HUGO is but we all know where HUGO go's 😁
ALL TOGETHER NOW
HUGO there!
That first roundabout would have been PERFECT for the Magic Roundabout with 5 roads
Big brain ? STONKS ! in Biffa's case "TRAFFIX"
I snorted out loud at work when Biffa said "What if the truck driver isn't called Hugo?"
😋
Pouring up a cup of coffee for the next 28 Minutes and 11 Seconds. +1 !
Enjoy :-)
Thats a weird way to spell tea
@@kktimmy6020 :)
At 17:00 you should use the ovalabout on both sides. They're left turning slowing traffic down.
Ovalabout works great in game, they have more space to switch lanes. But in real life, people told me Ovalabout has lower lane utilisation
@@li_tsz_fung Clearly that is because Biffa hasn't used his mods to force people to stay in their lanes.
Thanks, Biffa! You’ve been awesome for the community!!!! We appreciate you!
Me at 16:00 : I smell a Roundabout coming ...
Biffa at 16:04 : This has to be a Roundabout …
This is weirdly satisfying ;) lets make it a challenge .. can you predict all roundabouts he will place ? :D
Actually, I was disapointed when the roundabout went in, it's not needed, those were all slip roads, traffic should not cross in front of each other. What was needed was some lane mathmatics and a few "no left turn"s.
Traffix Fix by Biffa - featuring Hugo There and Bish Bash Bish Bosh!
Nothin better that starting the day with a cup of tea and watching Biffa fix cities
4:59 you just stopped anyone from merging between the first exit you fixed and the one you are about to change. Only 5 minutes into the video, i think you have already drunk too much tea. There is obvioulsy no reason to stop them merging unless it really causes problems. Here it wasn't the case, just traffic starting to clear up.
#CinemaSins
Don't worry i still like your videos😉been following your chanel for 2 years now!
nope, there was still one merge point remaining that he didn't touch.
@@MDP1702 if you look at the timestanp i put, at the moment he zomes out, you can see on the right that the near node has shift s stuff. You're wrong
@@Spido68_the_spectator just noticed it too, he did it offscreen :p
5:24 Biffa did it again! You left no room for lane switching between the junctions so the cars coming on the highway are forced to leave at the next junction while those already on the highway can't exit at the next junction.
Hi Biffa! I know you explained why you prefer micromanagement in some cases, BUT I really wish you'd demolish chaotic interchanges more often and rebuild them in a better way or replace several junctions by one big ovalabout. I really enjoy when you make thing better and prettier at the same time. :)
CZcams: Biffa has upload a new video
Me: Darling, can I have a cup of tea please?
Darling: No you can’t you cheeky git. Make it yourself and while your there make me one
Me: Makes two cups of tea and watches Biffa
👍😁
Also me: Sips out both cups of tea ;)
16:15 No rotary needed, just lane directionals. They're turning left onto the highway when they should be using a ramp further back. I noticed that in a few other places.
Me, dealing with the commute to work: *"Horky.* *Borky.* *Lane.* *Switching."*
16:06 That 100% doesn't need to be a roundabout. It needs slip lanes and can easily be solved using timed traffic lights. The main problem of that area is three points:
1. That road acts as both a road to get on the highway AND a road to cross the highway.
2. The industry area is too large.
3. The industry area does not have enough connections to the highway (or other means of transport).
Let's be honest, most of his fixes are quite simple. Rather than applying a template fix, it'd be much more effective have a good understanding and connection to traffic flow and how to handle it - as though it is water through pipes. This better understanding allows for much better traffic fixes.
I mean, you're welcome to take the time to put in timed traffic lights, but why bother when roundabouts are so much easier?
Brought a mug of tea... Just as well I have just opened a new box. Some cities need more than one video.
It's impressive that Biffa is able to mention how traffic managed and does-awning works every time with the same energy and novelty value, as if he doesn't mention it EVERY TIME. Lol.
When I had a 3 way intersection with a highway that I wanted to changed to a 4-way, but with the lower road being a regular road, I used the 4-cloverleaf intersection, swapped the bottom highway with a 6 lane road, and cut out two of the cloverleafs and it works really well.
Lol, exactly when I was watching your other traffic fix videos this popped up. I' m happy :)
:-)
When Biffa goes "3 - 1 = 2, 2 + 1 = 3, it reminds me of "An acre is the area of a rectangle whose length is one furlong and whose width is one chain" and I have that song stuck in my head for the rest of the evening.
my new favorite highway interchange is the dumbbell, they're everywhere in my city
Roundabouts set up "Biffa Style" and setting lanes for on and off ramps is great and definitely helps (also the main thing most viewers take away from the traffic fix videos), but 99/100 times the real solution is simply giving the cims an alternate route to get to where they need to go.
@2:20 Biffa: Hey this guy's got brains, but we can help that..... LOL
13:50 merry christmas
A bit of advice for players, when you first start out you install your buss's and then metro. But we never go back to check the affect that the metro has on bus use. I have found that quite often it drastically reduces the buss use, on average 50% less vehicles have been needed in my cities. My advice is once your metros are in, let it run for a bit, then parse your buss lines.
1:31 What's the best thing about this city? I don't know but the roundabouts a big plus.
I'm proud of my first city. By following you, , CBP and imperitaur I've managed to keep my traffic flow in the 80's :) thanks
I know I have expressed in the past to delete that spaghetti junction mess. I am not saying you should, but I would have several good reasons for myself to do such a thing.
1. Sometimes just clearing the area and starting over is a good idea. I have created a few spaghettis junctions myself, as I add new areas and capacity, I Jerry-rigged to keep everything working. However, that increases complexity and that complexity takes up room.
2. When looking at what you need then, a simpler road layout may be all that you need.
3. Aesthetics, between increasing in skill in making roads and junctions, CS has gotten better at making good looking roads. So if you can, beautify, why not? If anyone has sentimental value to ugly roads, then the traffic the least of their problems... XD
the reason people have a ton of buses on their lines are that when traffic is bad, they take time to get anywhere, so people stack up at the bus stops wich need more buses, wich create more traffic... you get the idea.
Biffa, thanks for clearing something up for me. I never realized that you were saying Hugo. I thought you were saying “Yugo here and Yugo there”. I was getting worried about my eyesight because I wasn’t seeing ANY Yugos!
You can do a second episode fixing the trains in this city
Biffa! Your channel single-handedly convinced me to buy Cities Skylines, and I love it! Thank you!!
You're welcome :-)
At 24:57 its due to the cars slowly pushing away from each other to try and prevent themselves from overlapping. They turn the corner and stop at the train tracks but because there's a stop they all push straight backwards but because its just a graphics glitch it doesn't account for the road and just pushes backwards without colliding into any game objects.
Here is a tip for your industry area traffic, always a good idea to check that your trains works properly, and you also can split one huge industry area to two or more deleting connections between to split traffic to different cargo train stations
More sips of tea and traffic fixing 😌😌😌 bish bash bish bosh 🤣 love it
25:22, em biffa, the jam isn't caused by that node, it's going the other way...
Just a quick tip reminder I gave you some time ago on tree removal out of buildings and roads (as I saw you tried to do that here) - they will disappear if you move or up/downgrade roads but you have to turn off "prop and tree anarchy" -- not "anarchy" mod... ;)
Think I’ve watched all your traffic videos so whenever I see a new one I get so excited!!!
Hey Biffa, I figure that you might get this a bit, but I just wanted to say thanks for getting me back into C:S. I'm *definitely* feeling the lack of walkways (only have After Dark for now) and asymmetrical roads, but I've learned heaps from you on how to try and debug, test, and fix my roadways - even when I think I've fixed it and then it falls apart again.
Anyway, just wanted to say cheers for the vids, the tips, and the inspiration. -raises glass-
I love the use of traffic management! It is so critical to do this well. I really would like to see you place a few good intersections where needed - not necessarily a roundabout - especially one to replace the large helter skelter one!
I do from time to time, but decided to fix this time 😉👍
Watching these with some tea is how I relax.
Nice :-)
Was going to ask, who the fluff is Hugo. I shall have to remember that one.. someone to blame it all on, instead of my own crappy road layouts. Hugo, it's all your fault.. how dare you ruin my second childhood. lololol
Hugo is the name of the guy who comes out and paints the road in Traffic manager?
I always love these videos. My only issue is that I would have fixed the trains first. Being able to not drive and take mass transit would help with the traffic problems.
thanks to all of your tutorials I have clear roads!
I really love watching your Cities: Skylines videos! I get excited when I see a new one.
Hugo hair, sounds like a interesting guy 😅.
Good to have you back Biffa, my routine is finally back to normal after Christmas 👍🤘
I feel smarter already, I'm gonna apply as traffic management in the government office, thanks
You're welcome :-)
At 16:20 you left the road in the bottom left with the keep going symbol still on so they block the roundabout traffic.
If there is an explosion of babies called Hugo in the next few years you'll only have yourself to blame Biffa ;)
4:35 the pick your lane thing only works with straight, it doesnt work turning right onto a roundabout
also at 5:25 there is no way for people from the highway to get into the right lane to exit and people coming on have no way of moving left
With the second point, I believe there is one merge/node point remaining that is untouched.
While you are working at the ugly duckling of an interchange 14:35 the exits are allowed to make a left and right even though there are enough ramps to go each direction. Everyong making left turns is what is really slowing it down.
Biffa: *Casually deletes cars from existence*
Snap
Would have liked to see the train fix, and if it was only moving the edge connection junction, or if you had to do more? If it was just the edge, that makes everything so much easier. I still like to use Optimized Outside Connections, so that I don't get those 7% loaded trains.
That's all I did 😁
BIFFA PLAYS INDIE GAMES!!!!! WOOOOOOOOO PIIIIGGGSSSSS!!!!!
FEELING OK?
Biffa Plays Indie Games look up Arkansas razorbacks. I’m a silly American.
"No mods at all" uses network extensions road
this is amazing, that you can do ONE thing, and clear all the traffic! its like magic!
3:24 either a roundabout like you said or a two lane on each side and then a one lane going across the highway
Instead of downgrading to 2 lanes, have you considered using the lane connector allowing the middle lane to either move right after the diverge or remain in the middle lane? In certain places where two off-ramps are very close (i.e. no room to switch lanes between the off-ramps' junction nodes) this will avoid forcing traffic staying on the highway to be choked through a single lane after two off-ramps take two lanes away.
Im contemplating sending my old city in. It's quite large. I haven't actually played in about a year so I'm probably really behind on new stuff like new buildings and skyscrapers and mods and maps. Pretty excited to jump back in.
"It's bish-bash bish-bosh" ...
Great video as usual, Biffa! 👍Thanks!
Cloverleafs suck! I'm sure biffa knows this but for those who don't, let me explain
1st) IRL, and also in game you go not want more traffic to come onto the highway and join all the cars that are already there. If you have 3 lanes of highways and they are all full, why would you add more cars before you get rid of cars, that's just common sense, get rid of car before you add more cars.
2nd) not only is 1 bad enough, but on cloverleafs, cars are entering the highway on the right lane and then cars are trying to cut them off so they can get in the right lane and hit the off-ramp. IMO, worst intersection in existence. IRL, people are smart enough to make it as efficient as it can be, but in the game, it's absolutely the worst intersection you could use. With the way cars path in this game, having the on-ramp before the off-ramp is asking for trouble.
When I started playing the game I was using pre-built intersections exclusively and then one day it clicked that I can make my city look more organic by building my own intersections to my city instead of making my city work around pre-built intersections.
I can't get over the fact, that all of these cities spend huge amounts of space for monstrous streets and are obviously not in the least interested in the life quality of the inhabitants. They should have more space, more green between the houses, more parkts, more everything. And though all these cities are cities built for cars (not for humans), they are so bad regarding traffic...
5:41 That top-right road doesn't need to exist. It just makes a loop. Remove it. Make the roundabout a wee bit bigger and all would be well.
first... but i already drank my tea XD
Get more! ;-)
Biffa, I had a dream about you last night, that you came and fixed our traffic in Taunton, Somerset 😎
On the highway you can have them switch max one lane at every point. Use traffic manager and fix that. It’s when cars want to switch more than one lane at a single point when they slow down.
Challenge for you. A city where all of your roads have to be one way only. Keeping the traffic atleast above 80%
Wow! Didn’t know I could do this with traffic. So stoked now:)
BIG BRAIN MOMENTS
When I saw the first thing you were fixing I thought lane mathematics before you said it
Surprised Mr. Rotary didn't put one in at 6:40 like they do in Kansas on the Turnpike.
Biffa! These cities arent stretching your teacups enough. I think you only play with truely lawful drivers? Id love to see how Lane Mathematics handle those drivers who would flip around lanes to get that extra edge, and how you handle it!
24:42 What the H is happening on the left side in slow motion?? There's not even a road there in that angle connecting the street? & did the trains eventually move? What even?
Anyway, brilliant fixes, Biffa. Super sips for you!
3:10 maybe a BIG roundabout would be better...

Biffa seems to have forgotten that Network Extensions 2 is not in vanilla
Love the videos keep up the great work!
Finally, my daily does of Biffa😂
:-)
Hey, Biffa, hope all good! I was wondering if instead of traffic fix, just mass transit (bus, tram, trains, sub, you get it). How will impact on traffic? Will improve? The city looks very well built, and I was wondering if all is caused because some details in the mass transit design.
Having then 2 videos to compare results may gives understanding on the game mechanics an the role each plays.
My 2 cents. Hope is enough for some quality tea.
