Along with being director Mark’s favorite animal, these angler fish are amazingly bizarre! They can swim like a fish, hop along the seafloor like a frog, and swallow prey the same size as themselves!
They also have the unique ability to attract their prey with a lure like appendage, which is responsible for their common nickname the “angler fish”. This is literally a fish that goes fishing for its meals…it’s pretty incredible to see!

Lets take some time to appreciate that amazing title scene. Great choice of title, great choice of ocean scenery, and the best sea creature ever to exist reaching up out of the water, grabbing the title, and yanking it back into the water, and the music is perfect. Absolutely amazing.

Frogfish has definitely taken top spot for my favorite fish now.
My favorite fish is still the mudskipper, but the frogfish is definitely up there.

I used to be a little afraid of these guys due to the SpongeBob Movie when I was a kid 😂 I remember watching the behind the scenes story showing the divers encountering them and being horrified by their teeth.
But now I'm realizing...that they're kinda cute, and a whole lot more gentle (and dopey) than I thought. Thanks Coyote, I have a new perspective for these guys!

Whomever did the editing and the adding of sound effects for this episode is my hero. My best friend and I were watching this and lost ourselves to bouts of giggles everytime the vent behind the frogfish's pectoral fins was on screen because of the foghorn sound effect. Like, we had to pause the video and go back to watch it over again AT LEAST 4 times just because our laughter made us miss some dialogue. Keep up the AMAZING work
