Another excellent masterpiece Sam ! How come i lived in quarry bay and SaiWanHo all my life since childhood but never heard of nor tried all those delicious food at TaiOn Building ? You must have enquired, checked and tried lots of these food stalls before suggesting which stalls are worth to recommend. THANKS Sam for all these efforts and remember to exercise a bit after trying all these delicious food for us !

Thank you as always Johnson, for watching and for your amazing comments! I guess the Tai On Building is somewhere one could easily ding ding right past if one didn't know what was inside. We stumbled upon it a few months ago when we were exploring the Sai Wan Ho area, and enjoyed a meal there, and that's where the initial idea to document this place came from. Hehe yes, indeed a few sit-ups are needed after all that food! :)

The other day I watched a CZcams video on the cart noodle place. FYI the parents worked very hard n sent all the kids to Australia for college. After they graduated they worked for several years elsewhere and then all decided to return to the store to help the parents instead. Mom was so thrilled that they are all working and seeing each other everyday. I have to make a trip to Tai On building for all these other places you introduced, hopefully next year. Thx for another great video.

Thanks as always for watching, and for your great comment! We were lucky enough to get a few words with one of the daughters between her busy work, but I didn't know that about the family. It just makes it all the more inspiring- the hard work and determination that goes into some of these local businesses. We're glad that the family is back together and serving up some seriously delicious food. Of course, we're sure you'll love eating there in person. :)

Sam, my Man!! Great job there!! OMG, this brings back my childhood memories.... I spent my first 10 yrs in HK living in Tai Koo, just blocks away from Sai Wan Ho (btw, that's pronounced Sai-Waan-Hor)... Tai On Building has got all the hidden gems in terms of HK's street food/comfort food... I used to get the egg waffle there quite often as a kid... I'll definitely try out that Hainan chicken place when I'm back (I know, I keep saying this... damn Covid!) That places seems packed and buzzing all day long! One interesting thing I noticed from you is, the Brits tend to say rice almost like "rise" - but Canadians stress the word like "ice"

Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it! And of course, kudos on the recommendation that you gave us the other week Raku Raku, that was one of the things that inspired us to make this video! Glad you enjoyed watching and that it brought back so many childhood memories for you! Yes, the Eggettes there are incredible, and so is the Hainan chicken rice, so do get back there when you can! The building is pretty busy at most points in the day and even into the night as some spots (like the skewer place) open late. As far as the pronunciation, that might just be me! hehe ;)

Loving this channel. I was raised in HK and can really relate with the foods and places. I also love your humble, curious and enthusiastic approach, you’re a natural vlogger. May I request some visits to some old HK institutions from the British days that still persist, and that is the clubs - the KCC, HKJC and others. I know they have evolved so much over the years but they still retain a lot of old character (well did last time I visited in the early 2000’s. It’d be interesting to see what they’re like now.

sparkly and revamped). I'll look into other institutions though for possible future video ideas.

The cart noodle is my top gourmet in this video and I think he got egg noodle out of those varieties. Hainan chicken rice can be little more decorate with some jellyfish since they already came with cucumber. Eggette is always good snack to sweeten the mouth. Those skewers are all hotpot ingredients and used only one item per skewer rather than mix and match.

In Muar and Malacca (Malaysia), they have chicken rice balls to go with the chicken.
