Really respect the views on comedy. I'd be sickened if someone made a joke about Hillsborough. I'm a Manc, not a Scouser, but Hillsborough is closer to home to me than 9/11, I remember seeing it on telly when I was eight and I'll never forget the horror I felt. Still feel. .But I agree, nobody should be cancelled for making a joke - you can't say, "People can joke about other things but this is off limits". Respect lads.
So this is where it gets interesting to me, we agree that something like Hillsborough shouldn't be joked about but we decide to let them get away with it because we have also done or said something bad before. I'd rather we used this example as a prompt to try and be better, not make a Hillsborough joke when you know the effect it has on people. Are so primitive that we couldn't learn to not say stuff that genuinely hurts or brings negative memories to others?
@@dollarize6412 and on a similar note we have to look at comedy being a bastion of free speech, horrific jokes can still be funny as we all know (the consumer of the joke) about how bad certain situations are, so they use humour as a way of easing the pain as a collective about the horrific situation the joke was made about.

I do a weekly podcast called Good Morning Birkenhead. Chat absolute shit and we push it hard... but i have a subject A that we can't discuss and that's Hillsborough. Although we take the piss out of everyone and anything, that's too close to home and it means something being a massive red. Also means something to my family and extended family. Comedy is subjective and i'm happy for people to push the boundaries but there will always be one subject that people don't want to hear. Can't please everyone i guess. Great episode guys!
