I played this lesson during my church sound check, and everyone now thinks I am a pro.... when in reality I really suck.
This is the best of Scott's lessons so far IMO. So fun to play.

+Ryan Scot Don't be so hard on yourself... If you can even play something like this at all, you're definitely on the right track and can't be all that bad! Learning licks like this is essential to learning overall. It will bridge the gap between the rigid structure of scales/chord tones/technique/etc and fluid, creative improvisation and composition.

I've been playing guitar for 7 years now, and bought a bass about 2 years ago. I was on and off of it for a while but recently I've been playing it more because the peeps I jam with were in dire need of one. I became interested in the percussive qualities of playing slap bass and wanted to incorporate it into my melodies, and maybe also combine those techniques into my guitar playing. After watching countless videos on slap/pop bass exercises, I came across this simple and very fun groove, and it has helped immensely. Thank you much, Scott.

Why do people dislike valuable lessons like this? Its because lessons like this I learned how to slap bass and somehow managed to add a little bass line to it. He takes his hard earned time to show those and they hate on it..

Scott, videos like yours, quite literally, improve the quality of the internet by a thousandfold. It drives the value of CZcams through the roof. So many people use the internet for evil, or sloth or whatever, but Scott uses it for the power of education. You're a very special person for sharing your knowledge and your talent and it's safe to say, you're making a difference to many of us. A very heartfelt "Thanks!" from a very grateful person.

I have to say, this is a gem. You're really breaking down the C Dominant 7 rather than giving bassists a useless riff. The only comment I have is that it would be very helpful to see your right hand but a really good lesson. Thanks.

Then I got the whole lick down-pak,was playing alone with the drum groove, then you put those other lick in,at the end of the groove & I said to myself (damn) scott you are a BEAST & A MONSTER,on bass!!! GREAT,GREAT video lesson...

Thank you for placing this information up on youtube. I am a seasoned night club player
and have been so for years but my learning has always been learning by ear and that has
not been a bad thing but it really helps when you see someone break down a groove to the point of picking up the "little" things that make a groove sound BIG. I tip my hat to you sir.

You videos are special. Let me explain you why. Min 7:56 - you dont explain "put you finger on the third fret on A string. NO, you say, put your finger on the root, fifth seventh go back to fifth and root again. This is extraordinary because like this it's easier to learn the groove but also to learn musical notes, theory. Great job my friend. Please post more videos

The following is no cheat it is my desire to articulate my respect for what Scott is doing or trying to do: I am a studied bass player, who took a pretty long break due to work. I recently joined SBL and I have to say that it is superb - go for scott, he really knows what (!) and how (!!) to teach - and I can guarantee you this: This is a rare combo!! If you take his advices seriously, you will become a bass player! I am really thankful for what he does.
