Aadhi Thiruvarangaram on the banks of Then Pennai River is considered as one of the oldest temples in Tamil Nadu. Aadhirangam Ranganathaswamy temple is said to be 2000 years old and from Tretha yugam. History of the Ranganathar dates back to Matsya avatar which is the first incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
The Aadhi Rangan is also the biggest in Tamil Nadu, said to bigger and older than Sri Rangam Ranganathar.
Aadhi Thiruvaranangam is easily reachable from Thirukoilur and Thiruvannamalai.
