Denis, what an absolutely brilliant footballer. I am old enough to have seen him play, that was for Scotland, what a privilege. It’s incredibly touching to listen to him talking about some of his past. And such a personality.

Never rated Docherty as a manager. He won one FA Cup and that was all. If we had appointed Brian Clough as Busby's successor, we would have dominated the seventies.

I agree with your dad, Squire. Interesting that both players missed out on what should have been the highlights of their career; Greaves in the World cup and Law in the European cup. And whilst both are clearly highly rated, I think missing those occasions have not helped how they are viewed. Denis Law, is clearly viewed as great in Manchester. But as something of a poor cousin to Charlton and Best. He wasn't, he was their equal.

Denis gave the fans what they wanted excitement , as well as goals ,I've managed to speak to him twice ,once I went into a pub in Heaton
moor Stockport with my then wife for some lunch around Christmas time ,the dining room was empty so I picked a table and sat down while my wife went to the toilet.I then realised the table had a reserved sign on it ,I started talking
to myself when I moved tables ,thinking there's no one in and theve put a reserved sign on the table I wanted to sit on, I was moaning to myself ,then Denis law walked in with some friends and sat next to my table on the reserved table .He looked at me and said are you all right son .I said am I alright I'm sitting next to the king of old Trafford ,a European footballer of the year and you ask me if im alright .He had time for me and we laughed when I told them about a goal that he once scored and I went through all the motions needed to score that goal,He started laughing and asked if I was sure it was him who scored it as it was that fantastic
The other time was in the car park at b and q when he spoke to me .as a utd fan who followed them all over. In his day ,it was a special time in my life being allowed to talk to him .once the king always the king
